Michigan or Bama. Who do you want to win??

  • I was at work talking to a fellow Buckeye fan who told me that his son and friends were driving to Dallas to cheer on Michigan. He then told me that he uttered the words "Go Bl*e" (pukeface) because he's rooting for Michigan as a B1G team to beat an SEC team. Personally, I'm rooting for Bama to crush Michigan due to the fact seeing them start their season with a loss would leave a euphoria of bliss to my well being. But I just want to ask the question, who would you want to win, and why?

As I said in another thread that I will be wanting Michigan to win. Wow that hurt to say. But this conference needs to start winning these big OOC games especially against the best conference in the SEC. Now having said that I completely understand those who don't want Michigan to win and will not look down on them in anyway for cheering for Michigan to lose. I don't think I could actually go to the game and cheer on Michigan though. Actually, I look at Saturday night as a win win for us. If Michigan wins that looks great for the B1G but if they lose then we won't have to hear about how they just beat the defending National Champs blah friggity blah.

  • Michigan

A UM victory would go a long way toward establishing the Big Ten as a competitive conference rather than the wimpy conference most see it today. The SEC, Big Twelve, and PAC-12 all seem to be better conferences at this point in time.

I expect Alabama to win but I hope Michigan keeps it close.

  • My allegiance to the school is a HELL of a lot stronger than to the conference. I will never understand this debate at all.....Roll Tide!

  • This is difficult and I've been going back and forth with it. Gun to head today....Michigan. Here's why. We have the opportunity to beat them later. I know it will only stroke their ego if they win but we can bring them back to reality. I really just want to see a media and SEC meltdown if a B1G school happened to win. I don't think it's going to happen but being week one they have a punchers chance. I do reserve the right to switch though before or during the game!

A Michigan victory, particularly against the best the SEC has to offer in prime time on a big stage, helps every team in the Big10, including Ohio State.

As I said I completely understand feeling that way and in no way think its wrong. I just feel we need a stronger conference or at least prove our conference is stronger and no better way to do that than one of our own going and knocking off the top dog of their conference. At the same time, in no way will I be wearing anything in those disgusting colors or being all rah rah and the phrase Go Bl*e will never leave my lips either I just want them to win for our conference but I also won't shed a tear if they lose or get destroyed.

  • This article describes a little of how I feel about the match-up. I don't like everything about it but generally how I feel.

Big Ten gets big weekend to show it can compete with college football's elite - Yahoo! Sports

From Yahoo! Sports: Michigan State's game against Boise State and Michigan's meeting with Alabama give the conference a chance to test its mettle.

  • I hope Denard Robinson gets knocked out of his shoes, I want all Heisman talk about Shoelace gone after one game. I would cheer for them but I already have a hard time tolerating Michigan fans now, I can't imagine how bad they would become if they won this game. I want them to come back down to earth hard, their schedule was a joke last year, reality's getting ready to smack them in the face in a few days and I love it!!!!

I appreciate your posts and contributions, but this is about the 50th post on this same topic.
You just stated one of the most serious misnomers in referencing your friend as a "fellow buckye". Really? Is this what you call him? If so, you need another name for him because this description isn't working at all.

I am on record here as saying that I will NEVER root for Michigan under any circumstances.
Your entire argument is a fallacy and based on a false premise.

No self-respecting individual that likes to call him or herself a "Buckeye Fan" would ever root for Michigan. It's like being a Yankees fan and a Red Sox fan all at the same time! That shit just can't happen in my universe.

I am born and raised in S&G and I can't think of any circumstances other than when Bo died that I would even raise an eyebrow towards Michigan.

I am hoping that they get run by +40 on Saturday and I am okay in waiting for the sweet day when the Buckeyes return the conference to prominence. Therefore, I have chosen to wait it out and deal with the so called "negative consequences" associated with the conference. Not willing to sacrifice my morals for some bullshit argument that benefits the conference or makes the females in the community feel good about the Big 10.

No Michigan for me, under any circumstances. That's the way that I was born, that's the way that I live and that's the way that I am going to die!!

  • I'll be rooting for Alabama in this one and hopefully it's not a close victory. I'd like to see an absolute shellacking of Michigan just to hopefully put a speed bump in place of their recruiting train.
