Moeller, Shugarts Say They're Ready

Once again this week, we had a chance to visit with several OSU players. DB Tyler Moeller and OT J.B. Shugarts provided injury updates. TE Jake Stoneburner also met the media.

  • I am such a huge Tyler Moeller fan. He plays the right way and stays out of trouble. I hope he blows up this year. Good luck, Tyler.

  • What Stoneburner meant was we do not want to be a mediocre team like Michigan. Watching another six loss season for them this year will be another thing of beauty, all their momentum is on paper now.
    Good write up.

  • there is so much negative that people on the outside ar trying to portray an yes they have had their setbacks but i seriously think tOSU is looking up and is moving forward! Fickel and his attitude and energy and toughness and recruiting ability, Vrabel and the NFL experience and big name to the staff.... and the reality that the sanctions won't be as bad as others think. It is starting to look like an OSU team that is going to BUILD of what Tressel did and take it to another level and a LITTLE different route. Now we get to see the hire of an exciting OC after this year!

  • Just had to share this quote by Moeller..the kid is a true Buckeye..wish we had more like him.

“We’re talking about the same things. I think what people forget is we’re Ohio State and we all came here to win. One person or one coach does not define a team. We’re talking about the same things and with maybe a little bit more intensity."

  • I like the idea of multiple formations. Using 3 tight end sets, 2 backs, scat backs...mix up the package. There seems to be enough talent at the TE and RB positions to create matchups.

As far as the o-line spots go, I have to admit that I'd like to see it be Norwell, Mewhort, Brewster, Hall and Shugarts to start. Lets see what the "big" name hogmollies up front can do. Everyone is worried about what the chemistry might be like when Adams, et al, return. My guess is, by the 6th game of the season, they might be welcome additions as healty bodies.

  • Moeller was listed at 216lbs last year, was that BS? If so, can we get some Real measurables this season?

  • A couple of my favorite buckeyes there Stoney and Moeller kid reminds me of Bill Bates if he stay's healthy I could see him playing a role like that in the NFL.

Could be that Adams might find himself on the outside looking in when the sixth game comes.. If the O-line develops good chemistry, you don't want to fiddle with that in mid-season. So Adams may become the first linemen rotating in.

  • It’s refreshing to get these kinds of articles going. Bring on the new season and let’s get playing some football. I so want to get out of this quagmire and to be able to say like Tyler Moeller “I haven’t heard about the five guys being suspended since I don’t know when”!!!!

I would have to disagree -- Adams will be re-inserted immediately upon re-instatement. IMO anyway.

  • poor moeller has lost o much to injury, I hope he can finally have a full year.

Not going to happen. You put Adams back in the day he is eligible. He's only true LT on the roster and has 1st round ability. You tinker with chemistry in this case.

  • Baring injury, O line is not a problem this year. Now the next few years...

    Go Bucks!

I just love his work effort and intensity. A true Buckeye all the way.

  • Well said Tyler. It seems your personal adversity has served to strengthen your character and resolve. You and the rest of the team have the task of reminding everyone (especially the haters) who you are…and why you're to be hated. I'm looking forward to it!

  • I talked to Shugarts a few weeks ago, he told me it wasn't his foot that bothered him last season, it was all the injections they were giving him that gave him so much pain, He said he's 100% ready to go this season!!

  • We are going to shock many in this land this year. The chip on our shoulder is of Sequoia dimensions. And I wish we were playing the "U" in the first game to show what is going to happen throughout the year. And I really feel for the Akron Zips, as they will be hit as if it was a unforeseen Tsunami.

  • Rooting for Moeller.

Count me as 3 who's ready for them (to start playing) also.

Never made that comparison before, but you're right. Very similar. Go Bucks!
