'Nasty' Nate Williams

  • Either Luke Fickell is playing the role of optimistic cheerleader, or Ohio State’s defensive coordinator has seen enough from Nathan Williams this spring to think the senior will be back on the field this fall.

“Nathan will play,” Fickell said while appearing on 10TV’s Wall To Wall Sports Sunday evening.

  • Where this team could be special, however, is on the defensive line. The return of Simon and Hankins gives Ohio State two of the top defensive linemen in the conference, if not the country. Simon is lighter, stronger and faster than he was a year ago.

The Buckeyes also have tremendous depth up front, including the addition of Blue Chip prospects like Adolphus Washington, Noah Spence and Se’Von Pittman. If even one of them is ready to make an impact as a freshman, the Buckeyes could be very, very good up front.

Don't forget the move of Cris Carter from O-line to D-line. He was one I was most impressed with during the spring game. It seemed like he pushed around whatever offensive lineman he wanted to. My not be an every down player but may be a very good situational player.

  • Simon is lighter than last year? I would assume he is going to be lining up more at DE than DT this year?

  • Either way he is nearly unblockable according to some of the staff. I'm excited to see him this fall, especially under the new conditioning staff.

Yeah, he came out of Mariotti's winter boot camp at 260, down 10.
