No BTN...Options Please

  • My cable company doesn't carry BTN in my area.I really can't/don't want to pay(I don't live in Ohio) to listen to WBNS over the internet, just to listen to a radio program. So wondering how I might listen to or even get the game streamed. I tried BTN streamed over the net years ago, and it was horrible. So....just wondering if some of you ...in a similar situation to mine, have found a decent alternative.Feel free to post an answer or PM me as you wish. Thanks

  • Best option is to find a sports bar that carries the BTN. I would hate to be in your situation, because my kids love to watch the Game with me.

  • Truly like dogbacker said, the only option you have if you don't want to stream it is to find a friend's house who has BTN or a restaurant/bar.

  • I believe you can listen to the student radio stream, available here: http://www.ohiostatesports.net/

I had to use it a few times at work last year when I couldn't make it home in time for basketball games. Not sure if you can listen to football games, but I'd imagine you can. The play-by-play is not as bad as I expected (I had really low expectations).

  • I am in Buffalo and have Dish Network and can't get the Big Ten Network. I got the college football package which has most of the Buckeyes games and a million other games.

this website work pretty well for me:

    live247.tv

Sometimes they cut the game short if OSU is blowing someone out but usually I can watch every game. I have been in Spain for 6 years and maybe have missed one game so it has worked out pretty well with this website.

Thanks RB. That website is like my saving grace and link to America. I start watching the games and feel like I am back in Ohio on a breezy, Fall Saturday afternoon. Sigh...

I tried joining live247.tv last week so I could also view games but now am disputing the purchase through PayPal since they never gave me access nor are they responding to my requests to straighten out the matter. Just a FYI for others.

Really? I joined last week Also and freaked out because I didn't have access for about three hours after I signed up. I got put on a different but the same site called mystreams.TV try that and see what happens with your details. Apparently it has to to where the servers are for where you get placed.

  • Ditch your cable provider and get Direct TV. My family is military so we move constantly. But with Direct TV I never have to be without BTN and all the HD channels DTV provides. Better than any cable service I've subscribed to.

My advice is to switch your cable out to DTV. Even without the BTN it is simply better than cable.

It's been a week with nothing from them. I'm hoping the dispute motivates them.

I'm in the same situation. Guess nothing we can do when the games are on BTN.

That's exactly what I did. Screw the cable and get DirecTV. Got the BTN at my finger tips any time I want. I got the new DirecTV and it is awesome. Every channel is HD.

  • Direct tv is the way to go! I've had it since 2002

    TRU JDUB

  • firstrowsports.eu usually works for online streaming...if you have any friends who have BTN you could talk them into signing up for BTN2go (its free) and sharing their login info with you...

  • Indy, sorry to hear about that. I think they are an amature operation. I once complained about a game being cut short and got ridiculed by the admin. I am surprised though that they didn't connect you. I have renewed 6 years in a row w/o a problem. If a better option comes along though, I'll use it. No one disses my Buckeye brothers.

Unfortunately being in Australia for the last 7 years that isn't a option for me. I had a really good free European site but it got shutdown in the last few weeks so 247 was my saving grace right before game time.

  • Bamabucknut,

For watching the game live, I don't have anything to offer that hasn't already been stated.

However, if you would like to be able to watch a replay after the game is played, let me know and I will probably be able to hook you up with a torrent download of the entire game that you can watch on your PC, or burn to a dvd. The torrents I get are usually good quality.

  • Here's the link: http://www.soccertvlive.net/watch/82984/1/watch-toledo-vs-ohio-st.html

It might change from now to gametime, if so just go to soccertvlive.net and click on the American Football link and find the Ohio State game.

I usually watch all my sports from here when I am overseas.
