OSU NOT taking Neal

  • BuckeyeCrusader said...

If Neal tried to commit and we don't get Diggs it's super salty. Fortunately we're not burning bridges in more talent rich areas. It means we're kicking ass when we have to tell a guy that good no.. kinda sucks too though.. feel for the kid.

I say tell Chris Carter to go home now and Neal to get his butt to CBUS ASAP!hammer

So, ESPN said they'd have Stefon Diggs' decision today. Should I be holding my breath? #OxygenDeprived

So diggs is announcing today then? hmmmm

  • *If this is true*

A note to all other schools who claim the sanctions weren't hard enough on Ohio State:

If this story is true and we had to turn down Neal, then the scholarship restrictions have already impacted us. There is NO way you don't take both of these kids. If we had one more slot we 100% take both kids. If Neal really wanted to commit I feel sorry for him, he's a Buckeye fan and a good enough player to deserve a slot. Very disappointing if true.

  • I don't like the idea of not letting Neal in. I say we find space on the team for this kid and take him and Diggs

ESPN has been saying he will announce all day, everyone else has said they have not seen any information that says that.

I do. Neal would be #85. I'm glad to know that Urban won't oversign (despite the fact that we have to be at 82 next year).

Rivals is reporting he called to commit and was turned down.

    I don't believe this at all. bs_sign

Nothing against you AD28, I just don't believe this so called "source" on this.
Can we just wait on this and see how this develops?

Nothing out there leads me to believe that Neal nor Diggs are in the bag just yet.

No. It wasn't the scholarship reductions. One more commit gets us to 85. Urban clearly doesn't want to go over 85. We still have to be at 82 for next year, though.

Urban said at his press conference today that they are at 81 after signees. Neal and Diggs would put us at 83. There are others no longer with the program but he would not say who at this time.

I agree, you have to find a way to take both kids. All of the other boards are crying about how our sanctions didn't hurt us enough. Bull Sh*@, if true this hurts us already.

  • On espnu they just talked about Diggs and they stated he will make his decision on Feb 10th.

Ya, I already expected him to be kicked off. But the fact taht he hasn't obviously means Meyer thinks he is turning it around. I like what we are seeing despite the fact that i'd love to have them both.

  • I agree 100%.

us as fans have to put ourselves in this kids shoes. (ASSUMING) that nothing else happened, but if he was declined because of a numbers game I know thats the evil of the business, but to decided to come to Ohio State, and then be declined, it sucks for the kid, and no matter where he goes ill be rooting for him..

  • Did anyone listen to Coach Meyer's radio interview where he talked about wanting commitments to tOSU and evaluating their desire to be Buckeyes?

Maybe this is what happened with Neal? Maybe Neal was still hooked on exploring Arizona this weekend and Coach M. told him to either commit tonight or take a hike!

Nothing about this leads me to think that Diggs has committed or he's a sure fire commit.

You guys need to hold your exuberance until Diggs speaks out on this matter!!

    no

This is quuuaaaaassssy. What in the wide, wide world of sports happened here. Speculation by me.

1 spot left. Call made to 1st choice.
Question....Are you in because we have Neal who wants to commit right now, then there will be no room. Answer..Yes Coach I'm in. Phone call to Neal...Sorry we have no room left.

Playing the waiting game can cost you.

Just so you'll be aware as I know you've been more concerned than some about the schollies -- Urban was asked about scholarships in his presser today and said with everyone we signed today we're at 81 and have spot for one more. He wouldn't elaborate when asked about kids leaving, so it's pretty certain he's aware some more kids will be leaving as he even stated firmly that he has never oversigned and doesn't plan to.

I mean, it's pretty logical to assume this means that Meyer thinks we are getting Diggs. He talked about having one scholly left for a "playmaker" and one more gets us to 85. The only playmakers coming into today that we were still recruiting were Caleb, Diggs, and Neal. If Rivals is correct in reporting that we turned down Neal that is a strong indicator that Urban believes that he will get a different playmaker he rather have. Diggs is the only guy that fits that role and that we've been in contact with. Now we may not get Diggs, but it's certainly logical to assume Meyer believes we will assuming the report is correct.

    AllDay28

  • I'm trying to hold off forming much of an opinion on this yet. You hate to see us turn down a kid like Neal if he indeed did try to commit tonight, but if we did, I expect Meyer had his reasons, and hopefully they are in the form of a 5-star, 99-rating recruit named Diggs. ;)

Ya, I heard that. We are at 84 now including the two likely medical redshirts. This means that with one more and if we get the two medical redshirts taht would put us at 83. I'm not sure where the other scholarship is but clearly he knows about something (probably a transfer) taht we may not yet know about. But i'm glad to see he's not oversigning.
