  • Just to add on to what has been said, Auburn is #3 all-time in NCAA major violations committed, and leads the SEC (which has the 2nd most NCAA major violations all time of any conference next to ACC). G'luck with that, enjoy the empty pedestal in 10 years fail

My UM buddy had this to say about Diamond: (HILARIOUS!)

"Not surprised by that [Diamond to Auburn] at all. That guy is a fruit loop. Funny line, Michigan was still on Diamond and Alex Kozan from CO. After Diamond annouced for Aub. Some guy posted that Auburn has to be out of cap space and we should be in good shape for Kozan."

  • AUBURN FOOTBALL

In a list of all time major infractions, defined as those in which the school has been penalized by the NCAA for rules violations, auburn ranks 3rd, and second among football programs. SMU is number one (more good christians!), so you could arguably say that auburn is the most penalized 'major' football program. Auburn has 7 major violations in its history, Arizona State has 8 (but they were mostly baseball related) and SMU also has 8. So the cam newton fiasco will officially put auburn in first place in something, congratulations, you retards deserve it.

A summary, from the last 50 years in reverse chronological order...

2004, their accreditation threatened due to academic violations, with football booster and board of trustees member Bobby Lowder specifically named, the accreditation committee put them on 5 years probation beginning in 2004 (maybe why they waited until 2009 to buy a cam newton, had to wait until the 2004 academic probation was over with?) This is why they were left out of the 2004 title game. WHILE THEY WERE ON PROBATION ALREADY, the 'sociology' scandal broke, with a professor funneling football players through fake classes that didn't really have classes. This is a recurring theme at Auburn, continued violations while on probation already.

1991-1993, Former Auburn coach Terry Bowden said on tape that boosters were funneling thousands of dollars to football players when he became coach in 1993, a time when the Tigers already were on NCAA probation. "They were paying players cash, $12,000, $15,000 to sign," Bowden said on the recording. "All I was told to do was shake hands and say, 'Thank you. I appreciate how much you love Auburn."'. This was the Eric Ramsey era, in which that former player audio taped himself on the phone getting promises of cash from multiple assistant coaches and head coach/AD Pat Dye himself. The 60 minutes interview names Bobby Lowder and Colonial Bank again. Lowder also put Pat Dye himself on the board of Colonial Bancorp after Auburn fired him. Colonial Bank collapsed in 2008, at the time the 6th larged bank failure in US history, a slew of lawsuits since blame Lowder.

1979, Extra benefits, improper recruiting contacts, entertainment, inducements, lodging, publicity and transportation, excessive number of official visits, tryouts, questionable practice, all got both the football and basketball programs probation. 2 years for football and 1 year for basketball.

1953 and 1957 also saw auburn on suspension from bowl games for paying high school recruits. Thus making their national title claim in 1957 quite dubious. Again, WHILE THEY WERE ON PROBATION they were cited for rules violations again in 1955 and 1958.

Some of the links are broken/unverified, but a mathematical analysis suggests auburn was on probation 33% of the time from the 50s to the mid 90s, with every head coach in that time frame having a violation under his tenure.

exhaustive investigation= NCAA intern drives to Bucktooth, Alabama, stops at the convenience store outside of town and asked semi-literate clerk if he/she has seen anything suspicious lately. Clerk says," uuhhh...nope!" NCAA intern clicks her heels and heads back to Kansas. Case closed.
