OT; Cincy Reds to Honor UK BBall Team?

  • The Reds would do well to be reminded what state they're in; just sayin'

  • Screw Cincy, might as well give them to Kentucky ! CLEVELAND ROCKS ! GO BROWNS, GO INDIANS !

Formerly "Buckeye47Fan". Couldn't carry over my handle, why 247 ?

  • A huge portion of the fan base is from Kentucky. This is solely a PR move and smart when u r in a small market.

As a Reds fan I have to ask, how have you enjoyed your series titles? DOH! I'VE SEEN MINE WIN THREE.

By the way, Cleveland is home to a ridiculous amount of Michigan fans.

TBDBITL. Has been to many Bengals games. Also, they performed script prior to a 75 SERIES GAME

I Have enjoyed my guys winning three.

I was about to say the same thing. Being right on the border of Ohio and Kentucky. They make alot of money from that state. Guess they feel obligated. I just hope that they remember Ohio State was in the final four as well. Not to mention a record 4 teams from their home state "Ohio" made the NCAA tourney.

  • I would agree with that as well..... I was at a game the year Cooper wad hired and they informed the crowd he was in attendance.

Agreed, just a PR move to try and help sell some tickets.

"Series Titles"....... what's this you speak of ? ha ha ha. I have hoped and dreamed of seeing a Super Bowl or World Series won by a Cleveland team, before I die !

There are a ton of scUM fans everywhere in Ohio, not just in Cleveland. I wish they would all move to Ann Harbor, OHIO would be better off !

The last line you mentioned was the truest statement...... EVER. Lol.

I have lived and spent time in all three of the big cities in Ohio. It's funny how Cincy folks and Cleveland folks argue over supremacy when the best of the three sits quietly in central Ohio. All three have great things, but the only reason I'd move back north is for an opportunity in Columbus.

  • Due to proximity and wanting to draw fans I can understand it if the Reds want to acknowledge the UK Team but please don't honor them! A bunch of one and done guys who in reality probably started their professional careers last September. I am just watching and waiting for the NCAA to do their due diligence and investigate the basketball operations at UK because given their Leader, Calipari, it most likely will not be a waste of time.

  • Ohio is one of the few states in the U.S. that has several cities with populations of over 100,000. Most are located on the borders, i.e. Toledo, Cincinnati, Cleveland/Youngstown area. Columbus is centrally located and thus has no allegiances to any outside of it's own (Buckeyes).
Toledoans are often split between rooting for the Wolverines or us. Technically they're much closer to Ann Arbor but are located in the state of Ohio.
As a Reds fan myself I wonder if they would've staged a comparable event for us had we won the title three weeks ago. But then I do understand that they're closer to Kentucky and share that fan base as well.
Ohio is also uniquely situated in that it's a state that isn't wholly midwestern, northern or eastern. It just occupies portions of these regions. It's why there are people here from Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana and New York. And also a number of native-born Floridians.

  • I'd rather see UK there than UC. Why would you turn down having a national championship team at the stadium? Whether you like Kentucky or not, they would still draw a ton of people in that area, and the Reds are a lot closer in proximity to Kentucky than they are to Ohio State. They also had George W. Bush throw out a first pitch and honored him, and he wasn't from Ohio, I don't get the big deal, its an attendance draw. It's not like it's Michigan or something.
