OT: Cleveland Browns Draft

  • The other thread kind of died and some ppl went really off topic. So I started up a new Cleveland Browns thread to get some draft talk before April's NFL Draft.

Well the Browns signed Juqua Parker & Frostee Rucker from Free Agency & let go a group of players led by Eric Steinbach.
Yesterday the Browns were awarded 4 compensatory picks in this years draft. (2) 6th rounders (204,205) & (2) 7th rounders (245,247) which takes us to 13 overall draft picks.

13 Picks: Can You Fill In These Spots For Your Mock Prediction??
    1st round #4-
    1st round #22-
    2nd round #37-
    3rd round #67-
    4th round #100-
    4th round #118-
    5th round #139-
    5th round #160-
    6th round #204-
    6th round #205-
    7th round #211-
    7th round #245-
    7th round #247-

Predict what you think the Browns will do with every pick! Go Browns!

    4.) claiborne
    22.) floyd
    37.) jeffrey
    67.) offensive lineman.

after that it is literally just grasping at straws

  • btw since we have the #4 pick and Justin Blackmon could be ours & the Rams want him SOOOOOO bad, I say we swap 1st rounders with St. Louis & pick up the #39 pick or 3rd rounder from them. They have that extra ammunition to get Blackmon if they really want him because if they dont, we will most likely draft him. Then we can still draft Richardson or Claiborne at #6, depends who the Bucs dont pick at #5.
Its almost like a Win Win Situation!

    Bucknut8

  • I'm a Bengals fan, but will take a shot at the first three:
    -Richardson
    -Stephen Hill
-Weeden or Cousins and lots of defensive picks thereafter.

some people just dont like me. i actually would like to see them trade back to 6(if they can) therefore eliminating the decision of taking blackmon, claiborne or richardson. you go to 6, you'll get one of those guys no matter what and maybe pick up a second round pick, or a high 3rd round pick. if we have to play with crappy colt mccoy, we might as well have as many picks to surround him with watchable players. honestly the only confidence i have in the browns is heckerts drafts

  • Mock based on what I think the Browns will do:

    1st round #4- Claiborne
    1st round #22- K. Wright
    2nd round #37- B. Weeden
    3rd round #67- B. Massie
4th round #100- Trenton Robinson (MSU safety)
    4th round #118- Cyrus Gray (A&M RB)
5th round #139- Terrell Manning (NC State OLB)
5th round #160- Donnie Fletcher (CB from BC)
6th round #204- Eric Page (Toledo WR)
6th round #205- Kellen Moore (another undersized QB that fits the West Coast offense?)
7th round #211- Levy Adcock (OL from OSU (not "t"OSU))
7th round #245- Chris Owusu (Stanford WR)
7th round #247- Cliff Harris (former NikeU CB)

Obviously this is a total crap shoot, but a lot more fun than working.

Gotcha covered from a diehard Browns fan (+1 for you).

  • Mock based on what I'd like to see, assuming no trades:

    1st round #4- Trent Richardson
1st round #22- Rueben Randle (I don't actually see Floyd or Wright dropping this far, but would pick them if there)
2nd round #37- Alshon Jeffery or Zach Brown
3rd round #67- Bobby Massie, Brandon Boykin, LaMichael James (in that order based on availability)
4th round #100- Chase Minnifield or Nick Toon
    4th round #118- Marcus Forston
5th round #139- Russell Wilson (I KNOW the Browns will pick a QB at some point, so I'd like to see them get a guy here so that when he busts it's not a total loss. Wilson is small but accurate and athletic enough to play in the West Coast with a bad OLine)
5th round #160- Emmanuel Acho (I REALLY like this guy and think he'd be a steal in the fifth round. He may never be an all pro, but I'd bet on this guy being a SOLID starter in the NFL).
6th round #204- Best Big Ten receiver still on the Board (Posey, McNutt, B.J. Cunningham) or Ryan Broyles
6th round #205- Ryan Miller (OL from Colorado)
    7th round #211- Chris Rainey
    7th round #245- Cliff Harris
7th round #247 - Carson Wiggs (I know Awesome Phil Dawson is the Franchise, but Wiggs has a cannon)

  • Here is the draft I fear, and will cause me to turn in my Browns Backers Worldwide card:

    1st round #4- Tannehill
    1st round #22- Coby Fleener
(seriously, I saw a mock draft with this being our first round and now I wake up with nightmares about us actually doing it)
2nd round #37- Mohamed Sanu (don't hate him, just not sold on him)
    3rd round #67- LaMichael James
At this point the mock draft ceases because BBN has put a bullet in his head
    4th round #100-
    4th round #118-
    5th round #139-
    5th round #160-
    6th round #204-
    6th round #205-
    7th round #211-
    7th round #245-
    7th round #247-

  • Here's my ultimate dream draft with the Browns making effective (and plausible) trades, and a lot of breaks going our way:

1st round #8 (Trade down with St. Louis for their #6 and #66 (3rd round). Then trade down for the now-desperate for Tannehill Dolphins for their #8 and #73 (3rd round)). Trent Richardson. He's still there at 8, and now, cheaper!
1st round #22- Mike Floyd somehow drops (maybe DUI concerns?) and he's there for us.
    2nd round #37- Zach Brown
3rd round #66 - Alshon Jeffery - his stock is plummeting, and if he busts at this point, it's not crippling
3rd round #67- Jared Crick - doubtful he falls this far, but I'm just having fun now.
    3rd round #73 - Chase Minnifield
    4th round #100- Trenton Robinson
    4th round #118- Cyrus Gray
    5th round #139- Emmanuel Acho
    5th round #160- Devier Posey
6th round #204- Vontaze Burfict (even though he's a total asshole, dude can play, and maybe Jackson can whip him into shape
    6th round #205- Marvin McNutt
7th round #211- Chris Rainey (I don't really like him at all, but at this point I'd take him just for special teams as a field goal blocker)
7th round #245- Cliff Harris (good value at this point. Worth the risk and no loss if we cut him)
7th round #247- Case Keenum (why not?)

  • Here's some potentially great news!!!!!

Cleveland Browns could move from No. 4 to No. 6: Poll

Should the Browns move from No. 4 to No. 6 in the NFL Draft.

  • Wrong link. Last one was just a poll. This one has a little more substance to it.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher says Cleveland Browns at No. 4 are potential trade partner

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said the Browns at No. 4 are a potential trade partner for the Rams, despite their failed attempt to trade up to No. 2 with St. Louis to drat Robert Griffin III.

maybe we can rob them like they robbed washington. how about we give them #4 for #6 and #39(washingtons second rounder). that would give us picks: 6, 22, 37, 39 and 67. 5 picks that you can get starters. get 2 receivers, a db, an offensive lineman and either a linebacker or defensive end with those 5 picks. that could be huge.

I would move back to #6 for their third rounder. If we could get Washington's 2nd, that would be awesome. Maybe would could even sucker them out of their natural 2nd (#33) if they really like Blackmon!

well from what Im hearing they really LOVE Blackmon. I say the Browns need to tell St. Louis "we are taking Blackmon if the price isnt right for a trade. We want the 2nd rounder you got from Washington and a 4th or 5th rounder. Hes an amazing athlete and he will help turn our franchise around. So if the price isnt right, we are drafting Blackmon and you guys will need to find a #1 receiver else where."
Browns have to make St. Louis think if they dont make the trade the Browns want, the Browns will take Blackmon. Kind of like suckering the Rams into a deal they dont want to do, but if they want Blackmon, they will do it.

TRENT RICHARDSON. Please draft him at #4. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d827f6bce/article/richardson-is-main-attraction-at-starstudded-alabama-pro-day

At #22 they need to draft the best WR available. They can get a very high quality RT in the 2nd round. With the rest of the picks they need to select the best player available regardless of position.

  • All the people who want to trade back for a third rounder crack me up. We should get at least a second and third if we trade back. The Rams got two firsts and a second for a similar move. OUrs should net two picks at least.

two completely different situations. st. louis had all the leverage, and the value of a qb is 10000000 times more significant than a wr's, especially since in washington's eyes they believe that qb is a franchise qb. also after richardsons pro day id be shocked to see the browns trade back now. they're taking richardson
