I've seen some of those Newark teams (at least back in the late '80's early '90's) and they always had some fine football players. I dated and married a gal from Delphos and we watched some of those epic St. Johns and Newark battles - at least they were back then. I don't follow the teams in that area anymore.

that went on to play in college.
I don't have many or any that were super stars but here a few that I remember....
I played against Jeff Compton in baseball and basketball in middle school. Never got to play against him in HS since my school was much smaller and our HS were placed in a different divisions. He went on as a P/K for OSU. I never knew this. He was a heck of an athlete, and a really good guy. That I remember.
Jeff Compton, PK, Ottawa (Ohio) Ottawa-Glandorf – Compton was a converted soccer player who didn’t play football in high school until his junior year. He was a quick learner, however, and earned a scholarship based on making 12 of 15 field-goal attempts as a senior. Compton was locked in behind veteran kickers Rich Spangler and Matt Frantz during the early part of his career and wound up never lettering for the Buckeyes.
Played against Keith Cupp as a sophomore in football. He was a senior. Keith went to Leipsic and then on to Findlay College (now Findlay University I believe). Huge dude who played for the Bengals on the OL for a spell as I recall.
The other really good player was Scott Crawford from Cory-Rawson. He was a hell of an athlete in all sports. He went on a scholarship to SCUM as a QB although I don't think he made it all four years. The guy was a left-hander who could shoot the lights out in BB and throw the football on a rope.
How about you?
