OT NFL Draft

  • New mock drafts have Mike Adams in the second round, slipping out of the first. Bengals taking a WR and some sort of lineman. And Browns taking Trent Richardson and either an offensive lineman or QB.

Also, everyone has my vikings taking Morris Claiborne and I would much rather see them trade down. But anyways, talk about the NFL draft here if you like.

  • I really hope the Browns take Richardson. I know a lot of people think that is early for a RB but I think he could be the player to help them out the quickest. THey also need someone to catch the ball but I think Richardson is a beast and the Browns need to take him.

A lot of talk has your Vikes trading out to #5 with the hope of still landing Kalil while fucking my Browns out of Richardson. If that happens, I hope the Browns return the favor and find someone to trade out with who will take Kalil. That would still leave you guys with Claiborne though, or Blackmon, so not bad for your boys.

Personally, I think the Vikes should stand pat and take the LT. A few years back I really, really, really wanted Peterson. Obviously he's been pretty great when healthy. But Thomas was the best pick the Browns have made since they came back, and a building block LT is critical. If your boys are really going to give Ponder a chance, they need a tackle first. They've still got a great RB in Peterson, and have a lot of picks this year to fill some other holes.

In a perfect world, I'd like to see the Vikes take Blackmon. The Kalil drops to us and we've got a chance to entice the Rams up (I truly believe they really want either Blackmon or Kalil). In that scenario, the Browns probably lose out on the opportunity to take Richardson (Bucs seem to really like him), but potentially get another high second round pick.

Ya, i've heard that we may do that because we'd expect to get Kalil or Claiborne. I'd love Blackmon but I think we have more pressing needs at this moment. Also, i'm not sold on Trent that high. I don't think he's top ten pick material and, honestly, many of the top ten RB's have turned out to be real busts.

Don't even get me started on Ponder, he's really not the answer IMO. I would have loved to get RGIII honestly. I also believe the rams would love to have blackmon. All the talk in St. Louis (I have some friends there) is how Bradford doesn't even have a chance due to the awful receiving corps.

Mike Adams might have lost $5-10 million because he smoked up a little too much.

1 and 2 are decided already it seems with the two QBs. I still hold true that you can build more around a lineman that's going to start for the next 10 years, than a RB that's only going to last 3-5 years. I would take Kalil at 3 if I was the Vikings, although I would entertain a trade if someone, like the Browns, wanted to move up to get Richardson. I could also see the Vikes taking Claiborne, because he could start and lock down one side of the field from day 1. But I'll go with this.

    Luck #1.
    RG3 #2.
    Kalil #3.
If Browns stay at #4, they mise well take Richardson.
    Bucs take Claiborne at #5.

    Bengals at #17. Who knows.

After that I don't know. I could see a lot of trades this year because rookie salaries aren't what they used to be under the new CBA. Teams might be more inclined to move up to draft someone.

I don't disagree with you at all, but there are many reasons I want the Browns to take Richardson anyway. While there have certainly been some major flops at RB, I feel Richardson is pretty safe. He's got good enough hands to get a few receptions per game in a West Coast Offense. He was extremely well coached so I know he can pick up blitzes. He's huge so he's not just going to be chipping guys either, which is huge since we still don't even have a right tackle. I like that he's going to get immediate touches and opportunities to create some offense on his own. Blackmon cannot do that. As a receiver, he depends on the QB , and I don't have the greatest faith in Colt. Plus, the AFC North defenses don't have to respect the run at all, so Blackmon's going to be facing double coverage a lot. Richardson is relative safe and should help improve the offense immediately. So even if 4 is high for an RB, I'd take him.

  • Mike Adams needs to spend some time at the Woody with Mickey.

Then get his head straight and understand he can set himself up for the rest of his life with a pro career and when he retires in 10 years he can do whatever he wants.

Looks like your browns will definitely be getting richardson now since they just traded up to my vikings spot.

  • Who are Los Angeles Rams. St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Oilers, Baltimore Colts and San Antonio Vikings expected to pick?

    iowabuckeyes

  • The Browns gave up their fourth-, fifth- and seventh-round picks (Nos. 118, 139, 211) in this year's draft.

Richardson is a great running back but wow, Giants dead last in running wins a super bowl while the vikings with hall of famer Peterson is picking 3rd in the draft. Its not a running game in the NFL anymore, why in gods name would you give up 3 picks to move up one spot and you take a RB even if it is Richardson, take Blackmon or Kalil both solid picks, ugh. Every year the Browns disappoint me in the draft.

Just another terrible job by a terrible organization.

I'm very happy with the trade, the picks we gave up are not that big of a deal, I believe we had multiple picks in the 4th and 5th rounds. It was a great trade imo, there were other teams attempting to move up to grab Richardson.

Not only is Richardson a great running back but the kid can catch the ball extremely well, he now becomes a passing threat. We also need Richardson to help protect the QB (don't forget we play in the AFC North) the dude is stronger than an ox !

This was a great pick ! Now I hope we don't screw the rest of the draft up.

That was some pretty nice maneuvering... get the guy you want (cheaper) and pick up a few extra picks. Fucking Tampa Bay.

I don't mind that trade too much, but Weeden at 22 just set me the fuck off. Dude would still likely be there at 37. Get a Tackle or Receiver. For fucks sake, Reiff is still on the board. Great, you've got a tall, lanky, spread QB with no one to throw to and no RT at all.

Yup, and we used that extra 4th rounder to trade back up and get Harrison Smith. I actually like Brandon Weeden better than Tannehill, but you are right you likely could have gotten him later. I like it, we really needed Oline and secondary help. Kalil is a fucking monster and Smith is extremely athletic for a safety. Both could be pro bowlers.

  • I'm not happy with the Weeden pick @ 22, I'm not pissed off though either. We got the 3rd best QB in the draft and we upgraded the position. I do think we could have grabbed him at 37 though, not sure why Holmgren and Heckert got spooked....

No doubt in my mind that Weeden will beat McCoy for the starting job. I have to say that I'm still happy with our draft so far.........at least we didn't trade down this year !

I'm not as optimistic as you, maybe its years of frustration of watching us always in rebuilding mode. I don't think you ever take a RB at the third pick especially on a team with so many holes to fill, you take a freak playmaker at the WR or a QB that is a game changer, this was a weak draft this year so you stay with your fourth pick and go after a position of high need and thats the center Kalil. With their next pick they chose a QB, so what the heck are the browns planning on rebuilding the team again? How many years as a Browns fan do I have to go through rebuilding. And if they are rebuilding why pick a running back with the third pick when the shelf life of a RB is 5 years. Oh well maybe we'll draft an offensive linemen and corner back with next years high picks.
