Ohio Stadium ranked #27?

  • Really?

  • This is outrageous. Should be in top 10 easy. Personally speaking I have only been to ND stadium and OSU. I can see why the top 4 are what they are. Surprised A&M isn’t higher. I understand Boise State is interesting with the Smurf turf but really, I think the allure of the blue field should not mean a #16 spot.

  • I am not one to really care what some nobody website has our stadium ranked but having said that it is pretty ridiculous to be that low. Especially considering who they have ranked above us. Indiana? Really? Air Force Army? I love the armed forces but come on. Boise? I mean it almost looks intentional.

  • Because I'm an alum, The Shoe is obviously special and to be fair I haven't been to very many other stadiums, but it just seems low considering the history of the school, the character, the capacity, the atmosphere on game day.

I agree Indy. Being an alum myself, admittedly a little bias, I just don't see us actually being that low either. Our atmosphere is amazing. I really feel if we have more night games it would help though. Noon games against subpar opponents doesn't help make it real exciting either.

  • Ohio Stadium = National Historic Landmark

First of its kind in this sport. That alone should put it much higher on the list.

  • The moment I saw Colorado's and Wiskys stadium listed before The Shoe this article lost all credibility and I stopped reading.

  • I agree with you all. I think you guys are a top ten stadium and I have never been there. The author might have a few screws loose to say the texas tech is a better venue. I agree Air Force and Army are good stadiums but to say its better than you all is crazy.

I do agree with Michigan being top 3 ;)

Well......if the author was there for the Akron-OSU game then he is being generous. Noon games in Ohio Stadium against crap schools are almost like going to get a filling in a tooth that didn't need filled.....a waste of time...people sit on their hands.

  • Looking at all the comments though.....it's easy to see why they did this.

Even an Indiana fan called him out on his article and objectively said that they do not belong where he has them ranked....

Of coarse the intent of the article was deliberate....look at the attention they're getting...

That's exactly why they did what they did.

A&M plans on closing the end of Kyle Field and increasing capacity to around 120,000, it'll make the list. Not to mention that their fans never sit down or shut up. However, they do need to add attractive female cheerleaders to the stadium, it's just a bunch of dudes right now.

"for the first time ever last season," texas a&m sold out their 83,000 seat stadium for every home game. they had a waiting list for only 3,000 more season tickets but they're planning to increase its capacity by another 50%?

ha! that's like switzerland announcing it plans to become a world power.

    GoBuxGo

  • Yeah, if you ranked bama anywhere but first on that list, look out! Their fans would be hunting down your trees!

    MITbuck313

  • 1) i didn't know the shoe held 200,000?

    2) did anyone bother to read the author's bio? he lives in ann arbor. he says "I cover stadiums in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin for the most part." he's obviously a ttun fan who's purposely doing this as a dig. he's hardly an objective critic. but maybe a recruit's family sees this and tells their son that the game day experience at osu isn't all that great. and ttun has as many noon kickoffs as osu, maybe even more since they just played their very 1st night game a year or two ago (against notre dame, i think?).

Same way in Ann Arbor. They tried to overdo it last year though by only having noon games in November. The Air Force and umass games were at 3:30 and the iowa and northwestern games were at noon which I thought was stupid.

I can't wait to have one night game per year now though. Has osu been talking about that?

The way it sounds, at least one and maybe more night games a year.

  • I've attended at least one game in every one but two of the top 25 on that list. The only one that doesn't belong is Indiana.

    laservet

  • This "one man's perspective" B.S. is just that plain and simple.

Even I wouldn't rank the Shoe as being amongst the most unique and enthralling experiences--not yet at least. But no way should anyone with even half a brain and half logic have us ranked at #27 either. That's crazy.

And to think he even had IU ranked ahead of us tells us where he's coming from.

And while Alabama may have some of the most loyal and passionate fans, I've never heard anyone--anyone that is who's been to numerous stadiums throughout college football ever cite Bryant Denny as the best. And likewise for South Bend.

No doubt that Lincoln Memorial (Nebraska), Camp Randall, Beaver Stadium, Autzen should be ranked up there but so too should LSU's Tiger Stadium (how that wasn't ranked higher I don't understand either). And the Big House? C'mon! One night game in school history against a pourous ND defense in the 2011 season and it's supposed to be in the Top 3? Please!

As far as ARK fans go, I can attest to that. They were every bit as rabid and crazed as any we've faced off against in recent memory. Just recall how they were during the Sugar Bowl two years ago

    sugarcrystal

  • Can you give us a top 10?

  • having been to every B1G stadium / campus & many others across the country including the Rose ,Sugar, Orange, the old cotton bowl, FSU, the swamp , Colorado , TT , Bama , Arkansas , Auburn, ND & Clemson ...I really dont get the criteria used to establish this list - also been to Nippert (UC) more recently & how they managed to even make the list is comical BUT...anyway...my bias towards Ohio Stadium caused me to compare all other stadiums to it...but still there is no way that it should be so far down...if size is a factor then you would drop many of those in front of tOSU...crazy to think that Army's stadium is somehow more of an experience then tOSU...I haven't been there BUT...common sense should prevail

    trigg03

  • If the question had been about most awesome stadium or most beautiful stadium then Ohio Stadium would have to be in the top ten easily. Maybe these people had better experiences in inferior stadiums because of other factors?

It just proves that idiots waste their time voting for this stuff anyway. When the results have nothing to do with reality then you know the vote doesn't reflect reality. It's just the braying of a bunch of biased donkeys. Kind of like the presidential election. We got the best person? fail

  • One of the criteria they used was their benefit for the amount of money they spent. Now we do not know if they went to the skull session or saw the entrance of the band. We know they were in the stadium on game day and that is it. Fortunately for me I have lived in various parts of the country and have been to over 60 college football stadiums from the size of Mount Union to the size of Community College of Ann Whore. I have been to some like ND and the Shoe, Texas Tech, Florida, theU, Texas and Texas A&M more than once. I do not like their ranking but that is only my opinion. The reason for my opinion is the quality of football I have seen in the stadiums. To me that has a lot to do with your total game day experience. Also if you go to ND and do not get there early enough to walk down to the grotto or visit the convocation center and library you are limiting yourself. If you attend a buckeye game and not take the time to walk through some of the tailgate parties, go to the skull session and get in the stadium to watch the entrance of TBDBITL you will not get the same feeling of the game day. The Swamp was nothing other than basking in the sunshine--that was probably the biggest disappointment. I did have a lot of fun in Baton Rouge and Death Valley. South Carolina was nothing to write home about nor was the cocktail party in Jacksonville. However Georgia was a good experience back in Atlanta. I spent an entire day on Campus and then went to Bryant Deny stadium and it was not any better than a normal day in Columbus. I was there for a Florida Bama game. Nuts in the stadium.

It would be difficult to rate one over another but I think Todd Blackledge does a great job by finding the best restaurant in the area and spending time there. I did try that in Georgia and in Oklahoma as well as Texas. I even drove to San Angelo for a small school game so I could eat at Zetners a Great steak house. The food was better than the game. Now living in Las Vegas, I will visit several of the Pack 12 Schools and see some of them first hand. I have been to SC and UCLA but not the other schools. My first will be Cal in September this year.

A&M would not sell out every game if they went to 120,000. besides, michigan would just add more seats to not allow A&M to pass them. they put sparty ahead of osu . I would be raging if sparty was ahead of UM in anything. osu should be in the top 10. they sell out every game with a capacity over 100,000 should be enough to get in the top 10. 27 is way too low.

  • I quit reading this garbage when I saw Indiana's stadium ahead of the Shoe...

    farmem

  • The whole thing is bull but We do need to have more night games so that stadium will come alive. Ive bin to alot of games in slot of stadiums they screwed us but if we do add more night games people will see what a great stadium it is and the fans will be more alive and it will be more of a home field advantage .. I say around number 7...
