Oregon Ducks Acknowledge Football Recruiting Violations

  • It's about time! I wish it upon nobody but it is pretty obvious they committed violations and were bound to get caught.

  • So the big question for me is if EPSN will invade Oregon's campus and dig up every little thing they can find (i.e. making random stuff up).

Unlikely. But I suppose we'll see.

Now we'll have to wait and see if they get the "Auburn Treatment" and get away with it, or get away with a slap on the wrist.

Yeah. The amazing thing is the article on the 4 letter is about 5 paragraphs with a whopping average of 1.4 sentences per paragraph.

I would almost guarantee yahoo gets involved. They are usually unbiased in their investigations also.

  • "Further, and potentially most serious, the NCAA and Oregon “agreed that from 2008 through 2011, the scope and nature of the violations ... demonstrate that the athletics department failed to adequately monitor the football program’s use of recruiting or scouting services.”
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ducks have already conceded "failure to monitor" before the NoI has even been issued. They are in trouble.

NCAA lists possible UO violations | Oregon says it is in discussion on a draft that would, if the NCAA agrees, finalize any specific infractions

Improper relationships with scouting services, too many coaches involved in recruiting and a failure by the University of Oregon athletic department to monitor the recruiting practices of the football program are among the potential rules violations included in ongoing discussions between the school and the NCAA, according to documents released Friday. Since September, the NCAA formally has been investigating the Ducks and their use of scouting services to identify prospective recruits. One scouting service operator, Will Lyles, has said he believed the Ducks paid him for “access and influence” with players rather than for scouting information about them, which would violate NCAA guidelines. On Friday, Oregon released two draft versions of the same four-page document titled Proposed Findings of Violations, which was submitted by the NCAA to Oregon and released in heavily redacted form. The first draft was dated Dec.

    this............

this is what people fail to realize about this supposed bias be ESPN and other media outlets at OSU. The reason OSU and Tressel's actions received so much visibility is because OSU is as big as you get i the world of college sports. Plus, Tressel sold himself as some moral compass......once news came out that Tressel was not what we portrayed himself to be, it was game on for all the media outlets.

Take it is a badge of honor. The reason we have so many people talking about OSU is because we are relevant and the big dog in college sports.

ive always taken the hate as a compliment. there's a reason why ohio state is talked about so much. biggest, richest and most popular. people dont process that if ohio state went on a roll of national titles, espn would be slobbering on the buckeyes

I do understand, and agree with this to a point. But, when there is NEW news about South Carolina ($EC) and their hearing with the NCAA, and Oregon acknowledging wrong doing in their recruiting efforts, and the only real thing you hear on E$PeeIN is ancient old news, rehashed, on Pryor and Talbott, something is DEAD wrong. They are down playing this news by up playing. BTW, PeeSU could also now be a major player with the NCAA. If they kept child molestation quiet, to keep their reputation clean, Oh-boy!

Wow, four years of failing to monitor recruiting violations. I'd say they are heading for at least a 1-year bowl ban and scholly losses.
