    it'll get no higher than #2 on his list after texas' petition to peacefully secede from the union...same as our best possible ranking in the ap poll once the season's over

  • if we were 9-2, would anyone be doing this? of course not.

    we admitted we screwed up, we agreed to the penalties, we could have filed a protest with the ncaa but didn't, but now that we're 11-0, we're hoping 25,000 disgruntled buckeye fans will be able to petition the potus to intervene with the ncaa on our behalf? maybe even go so far as to order them to restructure all the bowl line-ups so we can play in the ncg? because I have news for you--the deadline for the petition is December 18 but the bowl pairings will be decided by December 2.

    sorry but on a scale of 1-100 of things that are important to our country, this doesn't even warrant a 1.

    it makes us look like a joke. we just need to stop whining and take our medicine not matter how bad it tastes.

    Our coach LIED to the NCAA! That is not the NCAA's fault, it was our coach's fault.

    Suck it up, take the beating like a man and move on.

    If any other team on sanctions were to try this what would everyone say about them?

  • you can't be serious right now. grow up; deal with it. osu broke ncaa rules and they got their penalties. If this happened to michigan, I would not want there to be a petition. I'll just live with my bowl ban and move on. It wouldn't look good for your school if they let you play in a bowl game. everyone is going to hate your school and bash it every second of their lives for letting osu play in a bowl game. Only bad things can come out of this. the best thing for the school is to just take the punishment and get ready for a good season next year. besides, the ncaa has more power than obama. they will put sanctions on obama if they wanted too.

    +1. I actually like this us against the world. I actually don't think we would fair well in the bowl game anyways. Give us another year, with positive momentum, and get this team to the 12-0 elite status. Yes we could be 12-0, but not the top elite status.

    Actions have consequences...something that's lost on a great deal of people these days.

    Every other fan in cf is laughing at this...maybe we should lessen the ban on PSU too?

    It is what it is. We've known for 11 months that we weren't going to a bowl game.

    The time for someone to do this--not that it would have made any more difference--was when we were 0-0, not now when we're 11-0. The timing now just makes us look like a bunch of whining crybabies.

    I personally do not care to be painted with that brush. I promised someone months ago--I can't remember if it was AllDay28 or JAG24--that I would not whine about the bowl ban no matter how this season went and I won't. I'm elated we're 11-0 and I'd love to be in a position to play two more games after scUM, including the NC but I understood then what I still accept now: We did the crime and we need to serve the time.

    +1. As I repeatedly argued over and over, we should have appealed at the time the NCAA sanctions were handed down as I thought we had a reasonable argument. Gene Smith also blundered in playing the Gator Bowl last year. Had he self-imposed, we would be eligible this season in my opinion (I know most of you believe otherwise). Regardless, there is no point in arguing about it now. I will not be signing this ridiculous petition that makes us look like a joke.

    That was me. I am glad you are sticking with the position you took last year, it shows integrity.

    If this ridiculous petition grows legs, I may try to search all those old threads just to call out any posters who are flip flopping.

    Buckeye nation also needs to be focussed on Michigan first and foremost. This is no gimme.

    And if we will and are able to repeat an undefeated season next year, we need to save all of our political capital for that time. Whining and crying to get into a NC game may be needed next year because of the weakness of schedule. If there are multiple undefeated teams next year, we will have played the weakest schedule and will not be able to win on that argument.

    I agree. We are trying to get our respect back and it feels pretty good. Our punishment is almost over. Give it up! People are always talking about "whining #%$#" on here.....this sure sounds like whining to me! I think Urban Meyer would be very embarrassed about this. For the 50th time.......move on, everyone! Stop beating a dead horse!!

    Disagree. I'd say most Buckeye fans have accepted the punishment already, and I have too. However, it is okay to petition this issue even if it doesn't have a good outcome. It's the NCAA that punished us for providing benefits to players and gives us a bowl ban! While, the NCAA admits players like Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel in basketball even though we all know they were paid and got shoe deals. The NCAA will hit USC with sanctions cause of Reggie Bush, but they'll look the other way with $cam Newton at Auburn. The selective enforcement by the NCAA is downright shameful, and that's why I signed the petition! These seniors this season shouldn't suffer from something that happened 2-3 years ago. That bowl game could improve their draft stock tremendously. National exposure on television increases profits for tOSU, and increases future recruiting. I'd say it's worthy of the cause even if it doesn't work.
