Disagree. I'd say most Buckeye fans have accepted the punishment already, and I have too. However, it is okay to petition this issue even if it doesn't have a good outcome. It's the NCAA that punished us for providing benefits to players and gives us a bowl ban! While, the NCAA admits players like Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel in basketball even though we all know they were paid and got shoe deals. The NCAA will hit USC with sanctions cause of Reggie Bush, but they'll look the other way with $cam Newton at Auburn. The selective enforcement by the NCAA is downright shameful, and that's why I signed the petition! These seniors this season shouldn't suffer from something that happened 2-3 years ago. That bowl game could improve their draft stock tremendously. National exposure on television increases profits for tOSU, and increases future recruiting. I'd say it's worthy of the cause even if it doesn't work.

if we were 9-2, would anyone be doing this? of course not.
we admitted we screwed up, we agreed to the penalties, we could have filed a protest with the ncaa but didn't, but now that we're 11-0, we're hoping 25,000 disgruntled buckeye fans will be able to petition the potus to intervene with the ncaa on our behalf? maybe even go so far as to order them to restructure all the bowl line-ups so we can play in the ncg? because I have news for you--the deadline for the petition is December 18 but the bowl pairings will be decided by December 2.
sorry but on a scale of 1-100 of things that are important to our country, this doesn't even warrant a 1.
it makes us look like a joke. we just need to stop whining and take our medicine not matter how bad it tastes.

Baloney...what other schools did has no bearing on Tressels 10.1 failure to nofity violation. Stop looking for scapegoats for crying out loud. Our former coach covered up an infraction which led to one of college footballs biggest stories up to that time. Cam frickin Newton had no bearing on this, stop crying...please, this whining makes us look like crybabies.

You can be upset with Tressel, and that's perfectly fine. I'd say the NCAA itself is a much bigger issue though, and will have way more of an impact on the future of college sports and student athletes. Whereas in 5 years, we'll all forget about the football scandal. I'm not crying, I'm just pointing out that you can't put blame on one program when the whole system is broken, and the people who run the system (NCAA) show many fallacies, and are very inconsistent in handling their cases.

This has to be the stupidest thing ever. Be happy you are banned this year. WIth the team you have you would lose in the NC game on national television worse than in 2006 and 2007 and be a huge joke. You are undefeated because you haven't beaten a legit team all season. You think giving up 50 to IU makes you worthy of even being a top ten team?

What a bunch of pussies. Man up and accept the punishment...or did everybody cry when they were kids to mommy, daddy, teacher, so they'd go easy on you.
Actions have consequences...something that's lost on a great deal of people these days.
Every other fan in cf is laughing at this...maybe we should lessen the ban on PSU too?

And while I'm at it, this petition is going to the WHITE HOUSE?? Are you serious? The very thought of Obama even spending a fraction of a second on this insignificant issue is astounding to me. We're in the worst economic mess in decades, millions of people out of work, pressing national issues abound, and the starter of the petition wants the White House to take notice of a stupid college football game?
I gotta admit...I must be totally out of touch with society these days that some retard would actually craft a petition to the gov't over this. My guess is that this idiot won't write his congress person on issues that really matter but will raise a selfish issue over a stupid game...geez...I must be going frickin nutz.

Exactly.
Last I checked Cam Newton played for Auburn, not Ohio State. Let Auburn and the SEC worry about Auburn and their players....and if the NCAA doesn't do their due diligence well it's nothing we have any power to control...and in the end it makes beating them or any team that beats them that much sweeter.....
On top of which...look where Auburn is now. We had the worst season in 10 years.....last season and still won 6 games and went bowling....even though we probably didn't deserve it last season either....plus the NCAA didn't have to let our players play in the Sugar Bowl but they did. So be it.
Auburn only won 7 games in the regular season last year...and this year they have only been able to beat LA Monroe who they were barely able to beat, New Mexico State and Alabama A & M!!
Auburn's a mess!! So what Cam didn't get caught.....isn't helping them too much now.
As for us....besides 2011...the last time we lost more than 2 games in the regular season was 2004!!! We had 6 10+ win seasons until 2011....we've got nothing to complain about.
Stop frickin' worrying about other schools....players, coaches etc.etc.

Pure speculation on my behalf, but I wonder if the Auburn investigation may have spooked the underground network of alumni who were filtering laundered payments to the players. If so, that might partially explain their decline only a couple years out of winning a NC. You would think the NC would have gotten them better recruits and that they would be in much better shape at this point.

I didn't think we should appeal to the NCAA for two reasons --
* Waste of time -- the national media wanted us pounded, so we got pounded. * Appealing means delaying sanction enforcement which prolongs the process which can and usually will hurt recruiting to a degree, and since we aren't getting out of it due to the excessive anti-Oho State sentiment across the country, the best thing was to just take it and roll.
I signed this petition because even though it won't work, it's not being sent to the NCAA, and IMO a post-season ban was absolutely over-the-top and against precedent as I've outlined in the MANY threads on the topic in the past. So in short, this is apples and oranges as we are not "appealing" to the NCAA.
Ultimately though we'll deal with the post-season ban and move on to 2013.
Edit: Added information.

Petition bowl ban?
