'Playmakers' beginning to surface

  • Following Wednesday evening's practice in Columbus — one that Meyer stated was "the best practice this spring" — the coach mentioned two budding playmakers in particular.

  • During one play in Wednesday drills, after (Doran) Grant broke up a pass from Miller to Devin Smith in the end zone, cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs ran all the way across the field to offer up a flying chest bump for the rising star.

  • Buckeyes across the board are stepping up!

Luke Roberts was one of those 3-stars that people said wouldn't have been in the 2012 class if Urban had been recruiting it from the beginning or if he hadn't honored the commitments made before he started. But his tape didn't lie--and the tape I saw was from his sophomore year. He was a tackling machine. And now he's in the 2-deep at MLB as a true freshman. nd he just enrolled spring quarter, which means he wasn't around for Mariotti's boot camp. This is a kid who came to play! Good for you, Luke! Keep proving the naysayers wrong!

  • 3yrds is the board. Without his incite and articles, I would have nothing.

How do you not have a job with Bucknuts yet 3yrds? I hear about moterators and this and that, but we don't have anyone (unless you pay) that gives free information to us. This is where you come in to place.

    Keep it up.

Don't forget about Iowa, he gives the best analysis money can buy yet in this case, it's free.

    exactly Miguel!
I just serve 'em up, slow-pitch softball style; then iowa (and a few others i.e. Razor) can hit 'em out.

just like Luke in this article. I knew iowa would pick up on that.

    Nice article. Thanks.

  • Great stuff guys, thanks.

Even though it's a spread offense, it's sounds like its goi g to be heavily dependent on the rbs. Lots of option and zone reads with brax and the backs.

I was really hoping a wr would emerge this spring. But then again, they just one to come up by 2013 :)

The intensity of our coaches is second to NONE. Buckeye Nation is so lucky / blessed

Rumor is Michael Thomas is blowing up spring practice.

He seems like he very well could be the playmaker at WR needed!!

Yeah I read that he was having a really nice spring and showing potential.

He may be that guy in 13.

Definitely. His teammates and coaches are all speaking highly of him. Sounds like he may get significant reps this year.

I'm excited this guy is a Buckeye. I love the big prototype WR's. He's gonna be hell for DB's because is big, has the talent, and has the pedigree. I hope he gets the chance to be a playmaker this year cause i have no doubt he can step up and be a freshman contributor

Agreed, it's great to see people supporting him. He has a lot of work to do with the guys that join the group this summer but he's showing people he's a hard worker and can play at this level. His body is sick different from when he finished the year in high school. He put himself through two a days for six straight weeks after graduating early the first week of January and the workouts show.

    I agree 100%.

It has been awhile since we have had a big WR like this. Everything is pointing to a breakout for this kid, hopefully Braxton knows this and can get him the ball.

Got that right man. I've liked what Oklahoma State did the past few seasons when they had these physically big receivers like Dez Bryant and Justin Blackmon. When you have guys like that in your stable then you whole offense opens up. I'm a fan of those types of receivers
