SCUM recruiting strategy

  • Let offer 100 guys and see who commits first.

Its about QUALITY not quantity. So don't come on our boards with that BS. See you in February, you should have learned by now, when you grow wings we clip them. We will compare classes on signing day, then we can have a legit arguments. Stop acting like lonely housewives coming here starting ish.

Note: I posted it on here because I know your boards suck, and you guys hang out here everyday so the news is bound to get there.

  • Hokey Pokey will play it by ear and replace a 3 star caliber verballed recruit(s) with higher ranked prospect(s) esp. if the recruit(s) are from a far away location(s)...

  • This is a great way to recruit Florida.Bama , Texas have always done this. Michigan got 12 recruits 10 inside top 200.other 2 are a 6'5 WR (offers will explode when he does camps) and Hill a "diamond in the rough" type DT/NG that is quickly moving up boards,
get highly ranked kids ,before camps when they move up...very rarely will a kid slide out of his "star range:"

  • Hoke and TSUN are doing exactly what they should be doing, making invaluable inroads to the Ohio HS community. This will and has paid off and will continue to do so.

  • How is this a strategy. Dish out hundreds of schollies and see what sticks. You did get some good OL but what about the players behind them. No skill players. Time will tell.

  • scUM fans are going to do all the bragging they can this offseason because they know come fall Bama is gonna destroy them and then we will destroy them.

  • The litmus tests will happen when Meyer's recruits face Hoke's recruits in actual games. The banter is fun, though. When pitted head-to-head in games, I think Meyer is going to dominate Hoke. Just look at their coaching records.

You might wanna do a little research before you say they have no play makers. In Hoke's 2 classes they got Norfleet (one of the fastest RB in America) Drake Johnson (a track star in the state of Michigan) that just started playing football 2 years ago
Drake Johnson MLive.com Football 2011 fall football Season Statistics
    Statistic Total
    Rushing Attempts 343
    Rushing Attempts Per Game 28.6
    Rushing Yards Average 9.2
    Rushing Yards 2800
    Rushing Yards Per Game 263.3
    Rushing Touchdowns 37
    Receptions 15
    Receiving Yards 183
    Receiving Touchdowns 3
Total Touchdowns 44 --- including 4 on defense
More Ann Arbor Pioneer Stats: Football » | Boys Track and Field »
if he played 3+ season of football Drake Johnson wouldve been a 5 star recruit
add Terry Richardson (68 total Tds as WR/return guy to go along with his 31 INT during his career) Dymonte Thomas , 5 TE's all ranked in the top 10 both years at TE and the # 1 QB in the land . hard to say they dont have play makers.

  • Why do I think there's more Michigan fans on our board then on their own? Maybe it's because we've owned them for so long! They just look up to OSU!

Hoke has 1 year at a BCS school 11-2 a Sugar Bowl win .Michigan was the 1st team in NCAA history to beat 9 teams with 6+ wins and play 12 teams with 6+ wins in one year .,when he coached at SD State and others . he had way less talent on the field ,and still found ways to win games ,that the sign of a good coach.

Urban handed out 60-70 offers already .. why hasnt his class filled up yet ? seems like with such a great coach as soon as a kid gets an offer he would jump on it,before the class fills up ...

What was his overall record before he came to Ann Arbor? You seem to like stats so put that stat up. Meyer won at both Utah and BG with far less talent as well and I know his overall at those 2 schools was over .500 and if I remember right Hoke's may have been under .500. He may have had a couple good seasons. Also you have to remember he was playing less talented teams for the most part at those schools so it's all relative.

We shall see Bama lost a lot of starters ,yes they will be a very good team around week 4 . i think Michigan is playing them at the perfect time (game 1) Michigan is losing 4 starters Bama 15 starters (8 on defense , 2 DL ,2 LB all 4 DB)

  • Look, Hoke is a good coach there is no doubt but don't come on to an OSU board expecting all kinds of praise. You guys had a good day last weekend and grabbed some good recruits, congrats. But there is all kinds of time left on the recruiting trail and if the time period between November and signing day is any indication of how well Urban recruits then I don't think we have anything to worry about.

how does a track star translate into a top college running back. just shows the lack of highschool talent in shitagin and dont give me ifs.

? Utah had the # 1 pick in the NFL draft ( Alex Smith) plus 6 other NFL kids at Utah ,when Urban got there. Bowling Green had the MAC's all time leading passer when Urban arrived ,not like the cupboard was bare . Hoke walked into Horrible programs .
Everyone knows Urban is a good coach .but i would say Hoke is too , not in Urbans class but hes on track

Did Alex Smith look like a #1 overall pick before Meyer got there? Has he looked like one since? No on both counts, so maybe you should give Meyer his due for coaching the kid up. Until Hoke has 2 NC rings, he can't be compared to Meyer. Much like this year tsun will start fast in recruting and hit a wall around September. tOSU will continue to land top prospects and finish either #1 or #2 in the recruitng rankings with Alabama.

Bama's players that are replacing their losses are far better than Michigan's returning players.

  • Thanks for the down vote. I forgot that any indication of logic or not instantly bashing an opposing coach requires negative votes. Simply put, I believe that TSUN without a doubt NEEDS to recruit well here in Ohio and to date Hoke has done that.

    NuclearBuckeye

  • No way you can judge this until the 2013 season when these kids start playing.

I love my Buckeyes, but I think Hoke is a good coach and judging Michigan based on this past season I do like what i saw from Hoke. Never were they outcoached in any game. Will be interesting to see what he does when he gets more talent up there.

For all the hype our d-line class got, Hoke is getting equal amount of talent for his o-line.....should lead to some great battles in a few years.

    odan rot

  • Who gives a flying flip about recruiting strategy. The rivalry is back but this time I don't expect the Buckeye coach will be chewing his own nails on the sidelines...a la Cooper. If there is one thing to learn about the Rivalry it is that the teams take on their coaches identities. Hoke: Blustery all-talk guy...Urban Meyer: get the job done anyway possible guy. I am liking the way its going so far. Go Bucks.

Your right, but the best part is that you have Al Borges calling the plays. Saban will own scUM because of that fact alone.
