SCUM recruiting strategy

  • beemerbuck said...

Your right, but the best part is that you have Al Borges calling the plays. Saban will own scUM because of that fact alone.

Saban has a great deal of "love" for scUM from his days at MSU. I am sure he will treat them all kindly and with great fear come September. The beatdown will be in Biblical proportions.

  • too bad these early scUM commits won't be invited to Friday Night Lights this summer...None of those Verbals from Ohio held an offer from TOSU except Dymonte Thomas...after Meyers Camps this Summer,TOSU's Commit list will be loaded with 5 stars,Whats these kids in a hurry for?they got a yr before NSD.Plus the Bucks only have 16 Scolly's next yr.Knock yourself out scUM fans! get

  • Michigan has a pretty decent shot at landing 10 of the Rivals Top 100.
Of the Rivals top 100, we have a realistic chance to land:
    #15 E.J. Levenberry
    #16 Shane Morris- commit
    #18 Ty Isaac
    #27 Ethan Pocic
    #31 Laquon Treadwell
    #37 Dorian O'Daniel
    #46 Chris Fox- commit
    #60 Kyle Bosch-commit
    #77 Dymonte Thomas-commit
    #96 Jake Butt- commit
That is a pretty good class, and about as good as Michigan can hope for, but even that list will fall short of Urban's ranking. Picking a recruiting fight with OSU fans is just not a smart idea for anyone, except maybe if you are a Bama, Longhorn, or USC fan.

Remember that this year when the bucks play eight home games.

Actually we're especially looking forward to that 8th game this year. But the difference is that playing 8 home games isn't the reason our team will be good next year. Face it, your team got waaaay too much cred for being a feel good story. Or do you honestly think you deserved the Sugar Bowl bid over MSU?

  • I said it, i'll start a thread here and the SCUM trolls will show up. These guys act like they don't have a board. Ohh I forgot we are OHio state, we are the best at everything

SCUM wants to really feel like they are back. They will use anything to make themselves feel better. Where am from its called delusion. You signed 10 guys early, so what, no one cares, signing day is in FEB, lets compare classes then.

You might wanna do a little research before you say they have no play makers. In Hoke's 2 classes they got Norfleet (one of the fastest RB in America) Drake Johnson (a track star in the state of Michigan) that just started playing football 2 years ago Drake Johnson MLive.com Football 2011 fall football Season Statistics Statistic Total Rushing Attempts 343 Rushing Attempts Per Game 28.6 Rushing Yards Average 9.2 Rushing Yards 2800 Rushing Yards Per Game 263.3 Rushing Touchdowns 37 Receptions 15 Receiving Yards 183 Receiving Touchdowns 3 Total Touchdowns 44 --- including 4 on defense More Ann Arbor Pioneer Stats: Football » | Boys Track and Field » if he played 3+ season of football Drake Johnson wouldve been a 5 star recruit add Terry Richardson (68 total Tds as WR/return guy to go along with his 31 INT during his career) Dymonte Thomas , 5 TE's all ranked in the top 10 both years at TE and the # 1 QB in the land . hard to say they dont have play makers.

This is Michigan HS football we are talking about. If Michigan didn't recruit outside of their state they would be the next Indiana or Purdue. This is like bragging you got a midget to play center for your basketball team

A five point win against a OSU team that has its most amount of losses in over 100 years; what else do you expect from these inbred fans?

? Utah had the # 1 pick in the NFL draft ( Alex Smith) plus 6 other NFL kids at Utah ,when Urban got there. Bowling Green had the MAC's all time leading passer when Urban arrived ,not like the cupboard was bare . Hoke walked into Horrible programs . Everyone knows Urban is a good coach .but i would say Hoke is too , not in Urbans class but hes on track

On track? He hasn't even won a Big 10 championship let alone 2 National Championships. Don't compare the two it only makes you look more inept.

  • We will see who's class is better on february 2nd, 2013. I'd be willing to bet ours will be better.

  • last i checked we have a pretty wide net out there ourselves. hoke's not an idiot. he's not taking after the rest of the big ten. he's doing what he has to do to get by and there's a lot to be said for that. not to mention he's selling a good product. i'm not too big of a homer to recognize that. this could be the best era of THE GAME.

that said, he's going to get the ohio guys that urb doesn't offer for the most part. the thing about that is the second tier guys in ohio are still damned good. but he realizes we're going to be able to recruit much better nationally now and why shouldn't he take ohio guys that end up feeling like they wanna stick it to us for not offering? believe me, i hate TBUN as much as the next buck and i hope we dominate. i just this think this could get interesting...

Look, Hoke is a good coach there is no doubt but don't come on to an OSU board expecting all kinds of praise. You guys had a good day last weekend and grabbed some good recruits, congrats. But there is all kinds of time left on the recruiting trail and if the time period between November and signing day is any indication of how well Urban recruits then I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Michigan had 24 of its 25 commits BEFORE Meyer was hired .. the Penn St fall out happened AFTER most teams were just about filled . not like he was recruiting vs other schools when he came in .

Dont you brag about beating Rich Rod worst coach in Michigan History . a win is a win. You would take it too,the rivalry will always have good games no matter the record

This is a great way to recruit Florida.Bama , Texas have always done this. Michigan got 12 recruits 10 inside top 200.other 2 are a 6'5 WR (offers will explode when he does camps) and Hill a "diamond in the rough" type DT/NG that is quickly moving up boards, get highly ranked kids ,before camps when they move up...very rarely will a kid slide out of his "star range:"

I don't care what their class is ranked. The Cass Tech kids are vastly overated. Morris, 3 of the OL,and Butt are top 247...the rest are a stretch. Taco Charlton didn't even start for his H.S team. GMAFB.

Wow, I am not much for arguing and like I said don't follow recruiting that closely, but man do you have some huge blinders on. If that is what helps you sleep at night then so be it I guess but don't tell me Michigan wasn't recruiting some of the players there because they were. They were actively recruiting Reeves and he said no thanks. Trying to get Dunn to flip and didn't happen and while were talking about the Penn st mess lets not forget OSU wasn't exactly without turmoil the whole time either. We were dealing with the pending sanctions and then ultimately scholarship reduction and bowl ban. He signed that class and had to tell them they won't be playing in a bowl or for the B1G ten championship. Your post right here is a prime example of delusion at its best.

The problem is we are gonna get elite players.

We have Jalin Marshall and Foster pretty much wrapped up. Arguably the best athlete and best WRin the country.

We will get Huerman and h ave a great shot at Brenneman. IMO two of the top 3 TE's in the country.

Thomas may sign with Michigan. IMO its a long way till NLOID. Treadwell is visitng OSU this weekend so we will see if Meshitagain still leads after that. Pocic sounded less than impressed with his visit to Michigan.

I'm more impressed with Michigan OL recruiting this year than last. Last years OL class for Michigan was overated.

It would not suprise me to see OSU get 15 top 100 kids. IMO there will be alot more attrtition...if we can get to 23+ scholarships we will destroy any B10 teams class.

BTW we have a RB that may be transferring in...he fits Urbans scheme and is like getting an all-conference transfer like Russell Wilson...

Foster Treadwell and Pocic are all saying Michigan is very high for them (according to Rivals and Scout ) word is Steven Elmer is thinking of switching to Michigan a thought to be Lock at N Dame ,his entire family went to N Dame
Brennamen TE from PA is probably 90% Penn St

1st team in NCAA history to beat 9 teams with 6+ wins in one year,1st team to play 12 games vs teams with 6+ wins in one year.
both losses were because a DUMb 4th and 1 call inside opp 5 yd line ,shouldve run instead of passed shouldve been 13-0 ..MSU scored on an INT very late to make it a 2 score game and Iowa was givin a TD on a dropped pass
sold out tix for Sugar bowl in 13 minutes

Yes Michigan tried to get Dunn but Urban tried to get 6 kids from Michigan (according to multiple Michigan boards and the kids themselves) Reeves was a kid that Michigan targeted last year then the Penn St stuff happened so he opened his recruiting back up..C William is why he chose OSU .There WERE ZERO OSU kids that Hoke and Meyer went head to head for Dunn was before Meyer and Reeves was a kid Michigan never contacted after his visit.(maybe they already knew he was going with Williams)..6 Michigan kids Urban couldnt get to flip.

A19, Sorry I'm a Michigan fan, but I have to disagree about Elmer. Brady is not giving up on the recruitment of Elmer may be the story, but I doubt very much that Elmer is thinking about making a switch to UofM. Elmer was doing the same thing at the ND/UM game that Billy Price was doing at the UM/OSU game (tweeting pro-opponent comments while on a Michigan visit).

I think we have a great shot at Pocic and Treadwell...but if I had to guess, OSU is looking better on the recruitment of Foster than what Michigan is.
