SCUM recruiting strategy

Yes Michigan tried to get Dunn but Urban tried to get 6 kids from Michigan (according to multiple Michigan boards and the kids themselves) Reeves was a kid that Michigan targeted last year then the Penn St stuff happened so he opened his recruiting back up..C William is why he chose OSU .There WERE ZERO OSU kids that Hoke and Meyer went head to head for Dunn was before Meyer and Reeves was a kid Michigan never contacted after his visit.(maybe they already knew he was going with Williams)..6 Michigan kids Urban couldnt get to flip.

Well thanks for avoiding one of my main points which was OSU was going through a lot of turmoil but still landed a top 5 class. That pretty much tells me all I need to know about you, you avoid facts that get in the way of your agenda. It's ok though I understand that you want to believe everything posted on the Michigan boards because I am sure they are all rock solid journalist which is why they are posting on message boards. If Urban did talk to 6 kids and not flip them that is not really a surprise and I am sure he talked to many others that didn't flip. In fact I bet you probably could look into all coaches and they have a number of people they tried to flip and couldn't. Kalis flipped because we were going through the scandal and lost the coach that had recruited him in the first place. He didn't leave because he bled Maize and blue his whole life. It's fine that he flipped too, these are kids and have the right to make the choice that is best for them. I do like how you're trying to spin Urban into not a great recruiter because he couldn't get 6 kids to flip from Michigan. And the ONLY reason Reeves committed to OSU. Hilarious and Michigan was still recruiting Dunn right when Meyer took the job they even visited him at home when Meyer was the coach.

1st team in NCAA history to beat 9 teams with 6+ wins in one year,1st team to play 12 games vs teams with 6+ wins in one year. both losses were because a DUMb 4th and 1 call inside opp 5 yd line ,shouldve run instead of passed shouldve been 13-0 ..MSU scored on an INT very late to make it a 2 score game and Iowa was givin a TD on a dropped pass sold out tix for Sugar bowl in 13 minutes

Funny how you mention the things that went wrong in your losses. What about some of the things that went right in order for you to win? Such as the Notre Dame game, or the multiple over thrown balls our QB did against you or how bout the piss poor officiating of the Sugar Bowl. You may have been able to win those 2 games but you also could have lost 3 more just as easily so it goes both ways.

your right ; my point was ,i think Michigan deserved the Sugar Bowl, they had they highest SOS in conference ,most wins vs top 25 (in conference)

Let's at least pretend we know what we are talking about. Hoke tried extremely hard to pry Dunn away from tOSU even after he recommitted to Urban and up until signing day. Secondly Reeves did not choose tOSU based on the fact Williams already committed which he even said point blank. Third Meatchicken did not stop contact with Reeves after his visit. In fact days prior to NLOID both Hoke and Mattison did in home visits with Reeves. If you ask me I'd say both Hoke and Mattison within 3 days of their visits gave their best campaigning and still lost out.

On a side note. Before this year which BCS bowl did Meatchickin play in? Selling your allotment of Sugar Bowl tickets in 13 minutes is quite admirable but not really a great arguing point. Any team lucky enough to get a BCS bowl bid should sell out of their allotment in record time. Nice try though.

Bottom line is we think both our schools are the best and we are entitled to our own opinions. That's what makes us Fans. The real test of supremacy will be when we meet in"The Game" You guys pulled one out this year but only time will tell who really us the best and I really like tOSU's chances.

You can't be serious. You guys lost to msu and had the "luxury" of not losing in the championship game, because you weren't good enough to be there.

What really, MSU got screwed on that one, because of the new B1G championship. Are you serious. No one is even arguing that, the simple delusion that you guys are back over a single bowl game, in the worst year of B1G football is amazingly false.

Aside from the fact that MSU didn't qualify, I can see why the Sugar Bowl would pick UM over MSU. SOS is part of it. UM was the only bowl team who played ten other bowl teams, one of only three who defeated eight bowl teams (LSU and Ok St are the others), and only played one team that finished with a losing record. MSU played two teams that finished 3-9, two that finished 1-11, and played a division 2 team. And in '10 when MSU finished with the most wins in program history, tied for the B10 championship, in their last home game, senior day, they couldn't even fill their own stadium. Subway sandwiches bought thousands of tickets and gave them away to help put asses in seats. Third, when it comes to attracting a national television audience it's no contest.

Deserve has nothing to do with it. If I were running the bowl and my money were on the line, no question which team I'd pick. MSU just doesn't have the draw.

Good points, but SCUM fans are acting like they flat out dominated teams & are back. Thats the issue, we all know BCS is all about money & revenue, they just got busted.

Did Alex Smith look like a #1 overall pick before Meyer got there? Has he looked like one since? No on both counts, so maybe you should give Meyer his due for coaching the kid up. Until Hoke has 2 NC rings, he can't be compared to Meyer. Much like this year tsun will start fast in recruting and hit a wall around September. tOSU will continue to land top prospects and finish either #1 or #2 in the recruitng rankings with Alabama.

OSU will sign 14-17 kids so they cant be ranked that high..yes the avg Star they get will be top 5 but as far as overall recruiting OSU will end up around 15th overall in 2013 based on size

For Real!!!!!! And if Michigan would of played a team that didnt get blew out by clemson and really desrved to be there (boise State) then it would of been a different story

A19, Sorry I'm a Michigan fan, but I have to disagree about Elmer. Brady is not giving up on the recruitment of Elmer may be the story, but I doubt very much that Elmer is thinking about making a switch to UofM. Elmer was doing the same thing at the ND/UM game that Billy Price was doing at the UM/OSU game (tweeting pro-opponent comments while on a Michigan visit).

I think we have a great shot at Pocic and Treadwell...but if I had to guess, OSU is looking better on the recruitment of Foster than what Michigan is.

Didnt Foster give a top 5 already , USC Cal Michigan Stanford and Oregon ,i think he's probably 95% USC so he can play in front of his family.

If the Buckeyes go 11-2 this year, no matter how close or lucky the wins, this board will be full of people proclaiming the Bucks are back. When you win, you win the right to talk some smack. Every team, even teams on successful runs to a national championship, have a few games that are decided by lucky plays and bad calls. It's part of the game. Just look at OSU's last national championship team.

  • Everybody knows this is just offseason talk. This is the easy part, talkin' the talk. In about 262 days we are going to see who can walk the walk. On that day winning walks and BS, well is just BS. So we here in Ohio can't wait. 2012 will determine if last year was a fluke aided by a soft schedule and lots of luck on the field or if it was a good year that is a harbinger of things to come for scUM. Hot-fudge Hoke is off to a good start recruiting, but the test comes out on the field not on internet boards where every recruit is a "beast". So we will see soon enough. Which one of you scUM trolls is willing to come here and admit "maybe we were not as good as we thought" if that turns out to be the case? Certainly if you get through next year with less than three or four losses I would say you are doing better than I thought you would. Hell, I bet it feels good to finally have something to get excited about, even if it is misguided and way premature. See you in November, Pretenders!

You might wanna do a little research before you say they have no play makers. In Hoke's 2 classes they got Norfleet (one of the fastest RB in America) Drake Johnson (a track star in the state of Michigan) that just started playing football 2 years ago Drake Johnson MLive.com Football 2011 fall football Season Statistics Statistic Total Rushing Attempts 343 Rushing Attempts Per Game 28.6 Rushing Yards Average 9.2 Rushing Yards 2800 Rushing Yards Per Game 263.3 Rushing Touchdowns 37 Receptions 15 Receiving Yards 183 Receiving Touchdowns 3 Total Touchdowns 44 --- including 4 on defense More Ann Arbor Pioneer Stats: Football » | Boys Track and Field » if he played 3+ season of football Drake Johnson wouldve been a 5 star recruit add Terry Richardson (68 total Tds as WR/return guy to go along with his 31 INT during his career) Dymonte Thomas , 5 TE's all ranked in the top 10 both years at TE and the # 1 QB in the land . hard to say they dont have play makers.

huh? #1 QB in the land? get off of Hokeys fat ass and got back to Ass Arbor where you were born. Norfleet was a good pick up but this isn't track so ask Tampa how much sucess they had putting a track star at WR. bs_sign

Why do I think there's more Michigan fans on our board then on their own? Maybe it's because we've owned them for so long! They just look up to OSU!

+1 Would you hang-around a Loser Board like scUM's ??? As much as I hate them...can't blame them for opting for a better class of people to hand-with....

Just saying, I wouldn't be caught DEAD on their board....Never have been there, as far as I know, my Computer Explodes if I were to click on the link...

  • Whats amazing is two years ago Michigan lost 5 games; Wisconsin, Iowa, MSU, OSU, and PSU. Last year they didn't play Wisconsin or PSU but still lost to MSU and Iowa. The only gain they had was beating OSU yet the fans are ready to claim "Their Back". Sorry, but they went to the Sugar Bowl because of their lucky conference schedule and playing 8 home games. Love how football fans twist facts to make themselves feel better.

With Alabama on the schedule the next two years, SCUM has 0 chance of playing for a national title. I think Ohio State has the national presence to win the title again, Michigan has a chance to compete for the big ten title. If I'm a recruit I'm going after the national title.

Let offer 100 guys and see who commits first.

Its about QUALITY not quantity. So don't come on our boards with that BS. See you in February, you should have learned by now, when you grow wings we clip them. We will compare classes on signing day, then we can have a legit arguments. Stop acting like lonely housewives coming here starting ish.

Note: I posted it on here because I know your boards suck, and you guys hang out here everyday so the news is bound to get there.

Shits old my friend. We will both have great classes. Does it matter who finishes 2nd or 4th? Top 5 class is great no matter where u r in that group. Give it a rest already. Not all of us UM fans r talking. I for one am just happy we started strong.
