Good. I hope they don't settle and go for the whole damn thing and win. Irresponsible journalism needs to have consequences because just saying something even if its not true can screw up someone for life. Don't believe me? Imagine if some child accused you of lewd acts or touching them. Doesn't matter if you did it or not. You are eternally fucked.
Woman makes a false claim of rape? Spousal abuse? All that stuff sticks in people's minds.

who cares about winning? i know lawyers who would file the lawsuit just for the publicity, set up a quick interview with a columbus station. and it would allow the player to state his innocence. that's it, no need to go to court or anything, just file some papers and make sure the public knows about it.

I'm not an attorney, so I don't know what his chances of winning are, but I would assume that when you write false defamatory statements about someone without bothering to ask people directly involved, it's not a good thing. Thought maybe ol' George would have learned but I guess not. Maybe 10M will teach him a lesson?

They filed. Lawyer isn't going to waste his time if he didn't think it had traction. They probably won't win but I doubt they have nothing. They will get a chance to argue. The article puts UCLA basketball in a bad light. The lawsuit was filed........in LA. A lot of DA's with UCLA degrees are probably in that town. I imagine some judges too. You get the right judge and anything can happen.
If it were me I would use the lawsuit as leverage to get Dipshit Doohrman fired and his credibility ruined, a front page splashy headline retraction, and fire the editor who approved the story to drop the suit. And then have Doorkman publically kiss my bare ass on national TV Jesse Jackson style.

We'll see what happens. THe guy still has a good reputation and one bad artilce (if that is the case ) wont ruin him. Nothing in his article against OSU was proven to be wrong (nothing was proven to be correct either).
Nothing wrong with the media looking into the program, considering we are coming away from an era that featured a coach in Tresse who lied and covered up.
