Sporting news Article on Urban Meyer

  • gobigblue21 said...

you can all stop blaming everyone but urban meyer for this crap. he was the head coach, it was his program, and therefore he's ultimately responsible... and its really not that big of a deal. any college football fan whose a realist and hasn't been living under a rock realizes that this is what the sport has become. corruption is the norm. if you're program hasn't been through something like this already it just means that it's on the way. our fans are flaming you guys as I type and if I'm not mistaken we're still on probation. there's really a flame from a penn state fan on this board... THEY RAPED KIDS!!!! lol so don't get all defensive and flustered because really all this article proves is that UF was a normal program. lucky for you guys he comes to OSU after the shit storm there and will be forced to stay on the straight and narrow while on probation.

Hey, when does scUM come off probation?

After another 7-6 or 8-5 season Gator fans would hire Meyer back in half a heartbeat. Meyer accomplished more during his tenure than Florida football will accomplish in the next 100 years.

He also accomplished more than the Gators did in the Previous 100 years of football.... He also lost most of his staff after the 2008/2009 seasons which played a huge role in players not developing and then Muschamp came in and wanted to run a pro-style offense with spread players. There are lots of factors with why florida was not that good. Their Defense was outstanding last year even though they had a ton of injured players. The thing is Muschamp is trying to buy time by blaming Meyer for all that is wrong and in reality a great coaches devise plans to best utilize their players talents not create a system and force players into it.

  • I said this elsewhere...but nothing in this article really is news. The complaints were things OSU fans knew long before he was considered for the job.

    Ultimately, irrelevant.

  • This Bullshit was talked about down here over a year ago. Writers were all over Urban for leaving Florida. It's not new "News"! It's OLD news.
All you trolls go the hell home and worry about the ass whooping your about to get from Urban. Go search and post on your own board.

  • This writer is either a Michigan fan, Florida State fan or some other writer who hates Ohio State and is trying to kiss up to get a job at ESPIN. ESPIN, Sporting News and all the other crappy sports publications cannot stand the fact OSU will be back on top again. You know every single game some ESPIN d..chebag will talk about OSU's vacated Sugar Bowl win, Tattoogate and all the other garbage just to disparage the Buckeye name. Frankly, there should be a betting pool about how many times they talk about this scandal season during and after every single football telecast this season.

not true....while I don't think there is much to worry here, it is a good article to get some views by people who think Urban did a poor job at the very end of his time in Florida.

I think Urban did make mistakes and will learn from them and it will benefit OSU.

But to say this writer has an anti-OSU agenda is wrong.

And as for the media talking about the scandal and being ineligible for a bowl....that is all fair game. They will not be making anything up and only reporting what took place and the impact is had.

Exactly! Soon theyll be investigating Woody Hayes to see if covered up for any players recieving tats for autographs.

The premise of the headline is stupid: the guy who won two NCs in five years "broke" Florida football. I hope he breaks OSU football in that sort of way.

Meyer's tenure at UF would not be am issue right now were he not asociated with OSU.

Good point. Every successful coach has dirty laundry and there was plenty on Woody (eg remember allegations of cocaine use in the huddle from a reformed Rod Gerald years ago?).

College football has a seedy underside. There is absolutely no way any of these big time coaches are going to be squeakly clean and do everything right. Even if they do as well as possible, there are too many factors beyond their control.

I liked Meyer's comments acknowledging that he made some mistakes at Florida. I expect that he learned from them and will improve his performance on and off the field for TOSU. But he is not going to be perfect for us. He is going to screw up in some of the things he says and does. There is going to be plenty of room for criticism. I think we need to thicken up our skin and understand that some may be justifiable.

  • Sounds to me like a Buckeye bashing article and a bunch of excuses why Muschamp isn't winning!
Trash article! When you recruit Florida "speed" 1in 3 are trouble. Where is the articles om Miami? And Bowden?
