Spring Game 2012!!!

  • tOSU has the best of the best when it comes to fans, so I'm confident that I'll get plenty of feedback with this, and thank you to those that do comment!! But where is a good place for an "out of towner" like me to go and get a cold beer before and definantly after the Spring Game this year?!?!

    Go Bucks!!

  • My favorite bar down that way is Harrison's. Its on the corner of third avenue and harrison. Just minutes from the Shoe. Dive bar feel but not a dive bar. Hard to come by these days. Hope this helps because thats where i will be

    bucksfirst84

  • Isn't the Varsity Club still on Lane AVE across from the shoe? That would be my recommendation since it is really close.

Everyone just needs to chip in and we'll rent a massive high dollar RV and turn it into our private bar for the whole day-night.

The last time I went to a game I never got to hit one bar, I spent the day and night with the guys that were inducted into the Ohio State Hall Of Fame. This is me and Pete Johnson in the O room, it was a blast.

Depends on how old you are and what kind of crowd you want? The Varsity Club is right accross the street on Lane. If you want something different if you have kids just down the street is a BW3's. On the other end of campus champs and Eddie George Grill 27. There are about 20 different places to choose from no matter where you park or kind of crowd you want? Need to be more specific?

I stayed at The Blackwell Inn with a few Hall Of Famers, the Varsity club was packed. The guys were content to just stay in th room and party, even Gordon Gee came up to our room and bullshitted for a while, it was pretty cool. We went through 5 cases of imported beer by the time we passed out, had a great time!

  • Well, I'm 27, and i like to drink beer!! I was in the serivce for 8 years so diverse crowds aren't an issue. A place thats friendly, ya know, not like you shouldn't be there if you're not from there type place. Good music, upbeat hangout, enjoyable kinda place!

  • The spring game is on my birthday. I am pretty pumped and can't wait to get up there

Well hopefully seeing an Urban Meyer offense wearing Scarlet & Gray in action will be a good present for you. :)

I'm coming in from out of town as well. I'll be in Chicago for business that week, so I'm going to jump on a flight to Columbus. Once you pick a destination let me know, I'm up for going out pre and post game. My only fear is we lose the game and we're all in a bad mood. I'm just not sure we can beat the Buckeyes.

  • Really can't see going wrong anywhere close to high street and the shoe. The Varsity Club is usually crowded and not my cup of tea anyway but the BW3 is a option and I personally like the "Little Bar" on high street just north of BW3 (a few doors). My suggestion would be to take a walk up Lane to High Street and look for yourself (too many to mention).
A lot depends on the crowd and if the weather is good I look for it to be large.
    Good Luck.

I like Varsity Club but it gets to the point where you are packed in like a Sardine. Sometimes its so tight you cant get your beer to your mouth.................and thats if you get through the line to get a beer. RiverWatch is right around the corner. You have room to walk around, dont have to wait in long lines for brewski, and are able to get that succulent beverage up to your lips. During game days its real easy to bounce back and forth to pick your poison. Riverwatch is completely outside. Varsity Club is an actual double decker bar with an outside. Something to think about depending on the weather. All of my trips were to Regular Season games. I have never attended a Spring Game, but I would have to imagine it is a slightly geared down version of Gamedays. Have your head on a swivel and wear sunglasses....................ESPECIALLY if you are MARRIED. cheers

  • My favorite place to go when I was in school was the Bier Stube. It's on South campus on High St. Small place with the greatest jukebox you've ever heard. Another great place is Out-R-In, much bigger than the Bier Stube with two levels, pool tables, and a huge outdoor area. It's just off of High St around 17th Ave. Some other places include Mama's Pasta and Brew (in the alley around 13th Ave.), Nyoh's (country bar on Olentangy), and the Scarlet and Gray Cafe (just North of BW3s). All of these places are within a 10 min walk of the Shoe.

  • Woodys on Olentangy - small, but cool local type bar.
Then grab a pizza 2 doors down at Georgetti's, and stumble back to your hotel! I recommend the "pigskin"
