Around the 'Shoe

It is definitely an encouraging sign that Anzalone chose to attend OSU's spring game over PSU's and ND's, which are also on 4/21. So a commitment could be forthcoming. If so, who'll be our 2nd LB? Jaylon Smith? Courtney Love? Tim Kimbrough? I believe Kimbrough's the only MLB so will we take 2 OLBs or 1 MLB and 1 OLB?

Then we'll see who Heuerman picks the weekend after that since he said he plans to announce after OSU's spring game so Jeff can be there.

Shelton won't commit until 6/20. We'll see a couple more between now and then, maybe even a QB.

I second that! The same school/team as your big brother is a tricky spot though. A coin toss really, one hand you get to play with your family and the other is you get to play in what is perceived as your family's shadow. Would love to have him come to C-Bus, especially if it kept him from ND.

Smith would be great to get. Rod could show him the ropes in Columbus and he would be part of what's looking to be a very stout and tough defense for years to come. I really want Smith and Bosa for sure

A few thoughts about Smith that could work against us:

1. He goes to a different high school than Rod did; they even played against each other when Rod was a senior and Jaylon started as a freshman LB so I don't know that the appeal to play on the same team is as strong ad brothers who did, like the Heuermans. Especially if Rod isn't playing and if he's discussed transferring with his family; if he has, the fraternal pull to play at OSU with Rod is lessened.

2. He goes to a Catholic high school and ND's Mecca for most kids at Catholic high schools.

3. South Bend is closer to Fort Wayne than Columbus.

I predict Bosa & Love with brother H next week!!!

I don't know if Rod would be here next year though... Let's look at it this way. Hyde is 1 or 2, if Dunn preforms like urban thinks he is going to, he is probably the other one next year, we just got Elliot and Marshall and are looking for another RB, Rod would be buried in that depth chart unless he changes position.

That could work against us for Jaylon. Although I would love to see another guy like that in our LB core for sure!
