Indeed it is and I don't know if he'd be able to maintain any significant contact with Tressel. Not because of some hidden NCAA rule but the fact that Tressel's now at Akron in the undergrad department and Pryor will soon have to prep for training camp with the Raiders.
I say this because he and Tressel developed a repoar with one another.

  • Despite how much I hated what happened with Tat5, we are in a good position going forward.

I hope TP has someone he can look to to help him in this situation. He is still just a very young man who needs good mentorship and guidance. I know because I lost my father when I was 16, almost 40 years ago, very easy to go off in the wrong direction, and even easy in today's world.

  • I saw a thread on the Front Row about this and one poster said that he read on the Ozone site that Tressel altered his schedule this week to go spend some time with TP after all of this. As the other poster said, and I agree Tressel = Class Act.

  • It shows you what kind of person he is that he maintains relationships with those that tarnished his legacy (Mo Clarett, TP, etc).

    How firm thy friendship indeed.

How could Clarett and Pryor tarnish Tressel's legacy?

    This makes absolutely no sense!

Did Lawrence Phillips tarnish Tom Osborne's legacy, has Cam Newton done so to Gene Chizik's or did Stephen Garcia tarnish Steve Spurrier's? Of course not.

This notion that these two in particular tarnished Tressel's legacy is purely a notion perpetuated by jaded fans and commentators. It's not based on fact.

Tressel's loyalty to his players is ultimately what cost him. And he's shown how sincere he is by showing it to them even after the games are over and there's nothing to play for.

  • The difference was directly involved in Tressels firing. which then led to a bowl ban, vacated wins, and scholly lost. Mo Clarret was a bitch. He was so damn talented but acting as if he were a child. He was a phenomenal player and if not for his immature nature he could have been better than Eddie George. He had that much talent, yet he was a selfish player and made Tressel look like a fool.

I agree with this. Clarett and TP also helped create his legacy as well though.

I agree with you that Mo Clarett had great potential and that he unfortunately threw it all away basically after being given opportunity after opportunity.

I don't know of too many guys past, present or future who could sit out for two whole years and still get drafted in the third round--getting drafted by one of the best franchises for running backs at the time. Then gets there and refuses to seize the opportunity instead shunning key people on the team.

But it's funny when you say how he acted as if he were a child. Interestingly at that time we were talking about an 18-21 year old who had yet to experience life. It's very unrealistic to expect someone barely out of high school to make adult decisions all of a sudden--esp when they're surrounded by salivating vultures.

Do you forget that Moc used a gun to rob someone in a back alley at age 22 or 23 only to be arrested again. I'd say he was clearly an adult by then.

TP's and Moc's actions cost Tressel both his job and lots of sleep I'm sure of it. Without their poor decisions, none of this would have happened.

The one decision that changed his life forever was Andy Geiger's decision to suspend him for an entire year. He was thrown under the bus, then expected to act like an adult. How would any of us like to be basically on your own and out of the OSU family where you could get help? No other school would have suspended him for more than 4-6 games for his offenses, especially Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc.

IMO Geiger = Smith in over-reacting.
