Hah thanks bud. +1
I know not everyone will agree with what I've said, and I understand folks like Iowa's point of view, but I just can't root for some of those squads who spewed the venom the way they did (and some still continue to do it, just look at the MSU thread on page 1). I hope Boise St clobbers MSU next Thursday night. (Probably not without Kellen Moore, but would love to see MSU lose at home to them)

I will not cheer for an SEC team. I made this determination after hearing the LSU fans chant "S-E-C...S-E-C...." after they beat us in 2008 NC.
I want to see any team from the BIG beat the SEC, pretty much regardless of circumstances.
What would be better for us than having Michigan come into the Shoe this November as an undefeated, No. 1 ranked team?
With the exception of those who have ties with Alabama, I cannot imagine why any OSU fan wouldn't want to see a Michigan upset. I don't see it happening, but it would be epic if it did and definitely in TOSU's best interest.

This is the one that agree with. I will not be rooting for scUM regardless of the implications. In fact, I will be hoping that Alabama beats them by 40!!
I don't need a big story line or "unique set of factors" to get up for the last Saturday in November. The Buckeye win will be special whether scUM is 11-0 or 1-10. Plain and simple.

I can tell you what would be better.
Michigan coming into the shoe at 0-10 and looking for tremendous ass whippin' to cap off the firing of Brady Joke on the next morning!
Sorry dude, but I ain't buying the "we need scUM to win thing" for this game to relevant. This game is ALWAYS relevant, which is why it means so much and the records are thrown out.
It's a bare knuckles fight with the loser needing to wait an entire year for redemption!!

I consider myself a long term thinker in this situation. In my mind, OSU has to be the team to take down the SEC. The only way we can do this is by winning a championship against a SEC team, and ideally Alabama. The win against Arkansas was a tasty appetizer, but not the main course. The championship game will be all the more exciting if its OSU-AL, a Meyer-Saban showdown. The significance of the moment will be diminished in my mind if Michigan beats AL first. We have to be the ones to do it. As a result, I hope AL beats UM for the next two years, we beat UM for the next two years and we beat AL in the 2014 BCS Championship. After that, I hope every B10 team beats every SEC team until the end of time. Call me a dreamer, but that's how I'd love the future to play out.

I will also be watching this game, and I'll be rooting for Alabama to absolutely beat the living shit out of Michigan. We have to play Michigan every year. We don't play Alabama every year and if Michigan were to get lucky and beat the defending national champ that will give yet another shot of adrenaline to Michigan's recruiting game.
As far as rooting for fellow Big Ten teams -- I'm done with that. I used to do that. After the venom that came out from virtually every other fanbase in the Big Ten (MSU, PSU, Michigan, Wisconsin to note a few key ones) over some of our kids selling their personal possessions I will root against most of those squads in every game. Don't give a shit if they're in our conference. I just want to see Ohio State win, and these other clowns lose. It's been made abundantly clear to me that it's us against the world and there is no such thing as conference unity.

There seem to be a few of you who differ, but it is factual to say that The Game is going to be most relevant to the greatest number of college football fans when both teams are good. This would include fans of both teams and non-gambler fans of other teams who might be watching with passive interest. That's common sense and I don't think anyone can really argue with that.
Maybe I'm not as big of a fan as you, but admit that I wasn't nearly as fired up in the RR years when it was pretty much predetermined that we were going to beat them. Tressel laid off the throttle in a couple of these games because he was trying not to beat them too badly.
