The defense surely wasn't full of five star talent but did you check where they finished statistically last season? One of the better red zone defenses in the country. Your thoughts reflect the RR era. I believe Michigan finished last season at +11 in turnovers. Again RR era.

I understand they statistically look good last year but they also gave up 34 points to a horrible OSU offense.

As long he is still in the game. The Bama defense may just break the dude in two!

    JAG24 my brother:

You sound like a damn advertising exe on this post. I wasn't aware that you were based in New York city and so concerned about TV ratings? What gives? shrug

DUDE THIS IS THE "DAMN GAME"! The single most important event of the year for Buckeye fans! Have you not been paying attention since 1895??

C'mon man. This ain't about "broad appeal" to casual fans or for some limp wrist on the West Coast watching highlights. THIS is the Buckeye vs. scUM game that we are talking about. The single biggest rivalry game known to man kind.

Time for you to get in where you fit in and wise up my friend.

YES, I am a SERIOUS Buckeye fan. A rabid type that would simply go ape shit on a scUM fan just because........

DUDE I WAS FRACKIN' ECSTATIC during the Dick Rod years watching MY Buckeyes skull drag those bastards time, after time, after time! I would gladly welcome that again if Meyer could be so successful.

My man its plain and simple. A brother like me and my family are die hard S&G fans and have been that way for 50+ years. We do the S&G all day, all week and twice on Saturday.

Not sure what exactly you don't get about the need for Buckeye dominance and in particular.............Buckeye dominance over the asses from up North. This is what we do. WE DEMAND IT!!

I get what you're saying, but for me, I would enjoy beating an 11-0 Michigan team in overtime 1000 times more than I would enjoy beating an 0-11 team by 49 points. I also believe it would be much better for our program.

    JAG24:

I hear what you are saying and it makes sense, particularly if you had a magic wand and could select the scenario that you wanted. Real life doesn't work that way and regardless of circumstances surrounding the game.....you go out and get the win!

Win it over scUM, no matter what! For that I am ALWAYS happy and not willing to parse the wins. They are all equally as good when the home team takes down the dreaded beast.

It's just like beating the Russians in ice hockey back in the early 80s. Did we care whether we scored to win by one or beat them by a thousand? Ah no. We celebrate that win to this day because it was a win over the damn Russians... our nemesis.

    Just win baby win!!

I can tell you what would be better.

Michigan coming into the shoe at 0-10 and looking for tremendous ass whippin' to cap off the firing of Brady Joke on the next morning!

Sorry dude, but I ain't buying the "we need scUM to win thing" for this game to relevant. This game is ALWAYS relevant, which is why it means so much and the records are thrown out.

It's a bare knuckles fight with the loser needing to wait an entire year for redemption!!

    grumble

It will not be relevant if it is like this ... comeon man. Seriously? I understand there are people in each fanbase that hope for each other to lose but if each fan gets their wish and both Michigan and Osu suck going into the game, how long do you think it will actually be relevant?

I am in the minority as some Osu fans here that hope we are both undefeated going into the game.

What is sweeter? Beating a 0-11 team or an 11-0 team ... Hmmmmm? I wonder

Edit: Look no further than this thread. I can't imagine a thread being the same if Michigan was 0-11 in 2006

  • For the record, I think it will take a perfect game to win and expect to lose. I did manage to get a sig bet with a Sparty fan, who you may have noticed have been puffing their chest recently.
I tried to get him to agree to a bet that Michigan would not lose by 40+ points as they did haha but managed to settle on a 17.5 point spread.
    Good or bad bet?

Better than you'd get at any sportsbook. The line is Bama -12.5. You're getting way the best of it.

  • Nasty I understand what you are saying, but I believe this is 1 game that would be huge for the B1G to win. (Yes I said B1G, not UM to win). I like most will not root for UM, but deep, deep, deep down want them to knock of Bama. Just think of the upside this will give to every other B1G team. I know every other game UM plays we hope they sh%t themselves, but this is 1 game we need them to win. Look at it this way: if it was mid-tier or the lower teams in the SEC (No I wouldn't root for them) but if it's against the top dogs in the SEC - yes I want the B1G to get a big win against the projected NC teams.

    Chuman

  • I will say that I'm torn between the 2. I want the B1G to win NOT SCum. I want Bama to knock D-Robs braids from the back of his head to the front of his face and make him look like a member of ZZ Top. But I do want to beat a SCum team that beats Bama and goes un-defeated. I will watch the game and cheer when Bama lights it up, but will also just lazily put my arm up when SCum scores............know whutta mean???

    Brother Chu:

I understand completely what you are saying. However, I just don't agree with you and for me that's okay. This is all about opinion, personal theories and stances. My position is just fundamentally different.

Dude I am just cut from a different mold. I ain't never gonna root for Michigan and that's that. No matter the implications, who's on that team or even if sweet baby Jesus was a starter for that club. Not that I believe GOD would be that jaded, but my position is my position.

I don't care about the records, the "ideal" win stuff or how this helps the B10 as I couldn't care less.

Let me just be plain and clear on this one:

I DON"T GIVE A DARN ABOUT THE WHOLE STATE OF MICHIGAN. I WILL BE ROOTING FOR A BLOW OUT AT THE HANDS OF THE NECKS DOWN IN ALABAMA!!

When they win 50-3, you will see me in the crowd clappin' and dancing a jig!!!

I am a Buckeye fan and this ain't conditional. I ALWAYS root and advocate for S&G wins and losses by scUM..

I will also be watching this game, and I'll be rooting for Alabama to absolutely beat the living shit out of Michigan. We have to play Michigan every year. We don't play Alabama every year and if Michigan were to get lucky and beat the defending national champ that will give yet another shot of adrenaline to Michigan's recruiting game.

As far as rooting for fellow Big Ten teams -- I'm done with that. I used to do that. After the venom that came out from virtually every other fanbase in the Big Ten (MSU, PSU, Michigan, Wisconsin to note a few key ones) over some of our kids selling their personal possessions I will root against most of those squads in every game. Don't give a shit if they're in our conference. I just want to see Ohio State win, and these other clowns lose. It's been made abundantly clear to me that it's us against the world and there is no such thing as conference unity.

    Edit: SP

+1. I dislike Alabama but I up until now I didn't think this would be possible in which I hate Michigan more than ever ! Their dbag fans are high & mighty after finally beating OSU and Hoke's antics & lack of respect for OSU has increased my hatred for these yahoos !

I hope Bama curb stomps them 50-0 and I will enjoy watching...

  • Every true OSU fan should root for Michigan to win every game and be rated really high when they play OSU and then, of course, hope for OSU to blow them out. I say this for two reasons:

    1. The game will then be more of a national game if the two teams come in fighting for B10 and National Championships (remember 2006) and the B10 will be perceived as a great conference.

    2. And this is by far the most important. Blowing out an undefeated Michigan team provides the greatest humiliation to them.

Go Michigan! Beat everyone until the last game of the year.
