Urban's Spring Game Traditions

  • I was wondering if anyone knew what traditions Urban will bring to the Spring Game. I know Tressel had a draft amongst the players, wore combat/style jersey last year, etc. Urban has already mentioned students will be able walk through locker rooms. Will he keep the player draft? Anyone have an inside scoop on things?

  • While fans would like a draft format and something that resembles a real game, I believe he played offense versus defense at Florida. In their spring game after Tebow's junior year when they'd just won the NC and had a lot of starters back, most of them sat out. I don't think we'll see guys sitting unless they're hurt. I think the only question will be how hands off the quarterbacks will be, i.e., exempt from contact. Otherwise, Urban's looking for playmakers and competitors and that means guys are going have to hit and be hit.

  • Interesting..so it will be sim. to what Tressel did last year? I believe he had offense play so many minutes and defense play so many minutes. A point system was arranged to determine winner. Winning squad had scarlet jersey for Fall practices. Is this what game will be? How is winner determined?

  • The faculty and students will be able to mingle with the players and tour the locker rooms after todays practice in Ohio Stadium. They will not do so after the spring game next weekend.

    Also Urban said that they will draft teams for next week’s spring game. The link provides the format of the spring game.
