What's the starting lineup gonna look like next year

  • if Sullinger and Thomas leave which both of them will?
I think it'll look something like this

    PG- Aaron Craft
SG- Lenzelle Smith Jr. or Laquinton Ross
    SF- Sam Thompson
    PF- Evan Ravenal?
    C- Amir Williams

That's still a dangerous lineup if Lenzelle develops his jumper a little better over summer and once Sam Thompson get used starting. Laquinton, Thompson, and Amir are the guys i look to make a huge leap next year while Craft and Lenzelle continue to play solid

    Ohioz Finezt

  • Yep it will look like that more than likely.imo

    whothatnut

  • Looks good to me. Sully sure sounded like he is gone after this year when he was asked about Amir during the post game interview.

    dkbuckeyes

  • I actually wouldn't mind seeing that lineup, they would sure get up and down the floor alot. Amir's gonna be a lottery pick once he reaches his potential. I love having a big like that. I heard about that little foreshadow, we all knew Sullinger was gone after this year though. Who's the recruit that said he'd come if Thomas left? Anyone remember that?

    Ohioz Finezt

  • PG- Aaron Craft
    SG- Lenzelle Smith jr.
    SF- Sam Thompson
    SF- LaQuinton Ross
    C - Amir Williams

Shannon Scott and Evan Ravenel are your first 2 off the bench and Trey McDonald will see time. Hopefully Weatherspoon and Sibert stick around.....

    buckeyeboy31

  • Sullinger leaves, Sibert transfers, we sign Tony Parker.

    PG - Aaron Craft
    SG - Lenzelle Smith, Jr.
    SF - DeShaun Thomas
    C - Amir Williams
    PF - Tony Parker

Thomas needs to work on shooting off the dribble. Thompson, Scott, Ravanel, Ross, Weatherspoon, McDonald - off the bench, in that order.

    styesosuce

  • I totally forgot about Weatherspoon. He and Thompson have some serious hops...Shawn Marion hops. Next year's team is gonna be very athletic

    Ohioz Finezt

  • do you think if we ask them nicely that sully and thomas will stay???

So Lenzell Smith started this year, but there is an or to him starting next year? UHHH NOPE he'll be in there it's either going to be Sam Thompson or Laquinton Ross in at SF.

    L the Godson

  • We haven't seen Ross enough to know for sure, but he is supposed to be a serious offensive threat, which that group may badly need. Lenzelle, Craft, Thompson, and Scott all have work to do on their offense OR they are better than we know they just didn't look to score like they'll have to if Sully and Thomas both leave.

Laquinton came in late and was a freshman so that was a double whammy for him. Laquinton is supposedly explosive on the offensive side to the point where he can possibly lead a team in scoring so i wouldn't say it's an open and shut case. I wouldn't mind any variations of those 3 names starting. All seem to be athletic and give something different. We will see though

Other than Ross who is going to score?
    Thompson is a horrible shooter,Craft can't shoot,Ravenel?? Amir can dunk??I think

    Craft
    Lenzelle
    Ross
    Sam
    Amir

    For Defense
    Ross being the weak link!

    Craft Lenzelle Ross Sam Amir

Gotta hope Lenzelle and Craft can develop their' shot more consistently, Amir will get 10-14 ppg which most will be putbacks and good entry passes for dunks. I'm looking at Ross to be the main scorer but not sure where the rest of the points are gonna be coming from because there's not alot of shooters on this team

    Ohioz Finezt

  • PG - Shannon Scott
    SG - Aaron Craft
    SF - Lenzelle Smith Jr.
    PF - Evan Ravenel
    C - Amir Williams

Laquinton Ross, Sam Thompson and the others will be worked in a ton. It won't be a situation where 99% of the minutes go to starters, except maybe craft and smith.

    Plate

  • I think your right except I think Craft leaves also so insert LaQuinton Ross into the top 5.

Lenzelle will start, that spot isn't up for grabs at all, Ross and Thompson may fight for the SF.

Leaves where? Craft is here an Academic All American he's a student over being an athlete. He'll be here all four years regardless if his draft stock goes up and right now he's not on the board.

My folks in Columbus are telling me that LQ Ross is gone after this year.
Apparently this is common news around town that dude wasn't too happy with the lack of playing time this year.

So let me say this before there is a bunch of bitching on the board. I am only relaying what I've heard from the ground.

Hopefully its not true and that this kid is a bit more patient.

Either way, I would love to see what Ross can do if given a full year to develop and contribute as a Buckeye!

I like that look though i still see Ravenal coming off the bench. Maybe scott and craft together or Ross at the 4.

I hope Sibert stays and can practice himself back into role by playing good D.

Hoping for Parker and Jefferson in this years class.

Same with Sibert. Bad, bad attitude! Allegedly , that is what kept him on the bench!

    I think this is right.

2 ways to look into the future. Are we going to be a small shooting team like last year, or go big and play inside like this year?

If we go small, it will be Craft, Thompson, Scott, Smith and Ravenel or Williams.
Go big we can see Craft, Thompson, Smith Jr, Ravenel and Williams.

Is there another big guy besides Ravenel and Williams? If not Matta might just keep one in just to have the 2nd in case of foul trouble.

  • If we don't get Parker, and Sully and Thomas bail, we have to get Ross the ball. That lineup without Ross might score 50 points a game. Craft needs to work on his "O", Lenzelle is close to his peak if you ask me, Amir will be stronger and better, but no one can really score. I also agree that NIT is where we land next year.
