Wow no Brewster

  • Has anyone found it surprising that Brewster fell so much in one year. I know he had a pretty bad year, but dang. He may not even get drafted

    Be Cool12

  • Only first three ranked centers have gone; he will probably be next! He's ranked fourth. Hope so. Need as many Buckeyes drafted as possible.

    buckeyelouey

  • Yes it's quite shocking to me actually. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised given who his coach was, but he seemed like a guy who would go in the first 3 rounds.

    Razorback

  • Yeah this year did no Buckeye any justice in the draft. The offensive line was at an all-time historic bad this year. He probably needed to show more at the combine cause he's dropping like a ton of bricks

    Ohioz Finezt

  • Adams would have be drafted a lot higher if not for his fondness of horticulture and plant biology. But, if he would have left last year he would have been one fo the top 3 centers. Hopefully someone takes him because hes a high character kid.

the homers on this board's heads are probably about to explode with the brewster situation as many were touting him as top round material

  • Very surprised. I recall seeing the draft boards from about a year ago and McShay and Kiper both had him ranked as one of the best Centers.
Most thought he'd be the first Buckeye drafted at the beginning of the 2011 season but now look.
    Hard to believe.
The Chargers I believe drafted Michigan's C and yet Brewster's still on the board. Again hard to believe considering where he was projected as recently as six months ago.

    sugarcrystal

  • And Brewster goes undrafted. Wow.

    Razorback

  • As a former Buck, I wish him the best. I definitely believe the role of being the leader and all the pressure and attention from the media got to him last year. I believe he will prove many of the doubter wrong in the long run. He was an excellent center until last year.

    Be Cool12

  • He could walkon as a free agent somewhere!

Such a good kid, too. And a good Buckeye.

  • He just had a terrible senior season. Coupled with the fact that he was not versatile, not a good athlete and really doesn't have the temperment you see in an NFL lineman. He's just not mean enough to make up for his other deficiencies. Good kid who will get into someone's camp and from there it's up to him. Again, not to beat a dead horse, but anyone that has half a brain regarding football could see the talent level of OSU drop off drastically the last 5 years or so. You cannot expect to have elite talent by just locking down Ohio with your recruiting. UM obviously knows this. It's a little embarrassing for a football power like OSU to be such an after thought in the past 3 or 4 NFL drafts.

  • Hopefully he can see some positive in this. He can go sign with the team that best fits him now. Spin this into motivation Mike!! I remember meeting Mike & his parents on a flight from Orlando his senior year in high school. He was coming up to visit & watch the Northwestern game. Very nice family! ....... and he paid for his tats LOL

  • But he needs to get his head on straight. He really fell apart last year when we needed him. Not what NFL teams are looking for.....a guy who falls apart when the going gets tough.

I wish him the best. My name is Ballard the Beast because I love a high quality buckeye who ends up making good. Maybe Brewster can end up like Ballard or Sanzenbacker and deliver in the NFL.

Except Brewster is from Florida. I feel dumber having read your post.

i am pretty drunk during the games, but wasn't there a game when he couldn't even snap the ball ..?

  • He performed terribly at the combine. His athleticism was non-existent so he didn't get drafted. I don't understand how the guy was a 5 star recruit but isn't even an average athlete.

guys, i know i remember a game w hen he kept snapping the ball low, high left, right ..

  • Shep, the reason Michigan recruits so many kids outside of the state is due to the lack of talent within the state. Yes there are some talented kids in the state, but it doesn't even come close to Ohio, Florida, Texas, California etc

    buckeyesMJ

  • Sanzenbacher not drafted last year, made the Bears and caught 3 TD's... so there is a chance for Brewster.

    Big Daddy3

  • It's best he didn't get drafted at this point. I'm sure he will get a chance from some team and he can choose the best fit. Good luck Brew!!!

    BUCKTOWNSON

  • not really surprised. I was surprised Posey went so high. I had Brewster as 6th round material. The tape don't lie and he was exposed against big player. Only time he excelled was against smaller competition.

This is just proof these high school recruiting ratings are very hit or miss.

I wish him luck because he does seem to be a good kid and stayed out of trouble unlike the other idiots who embarrassed the school.

But, lets not act shocked that he was not drafted. His play did not warrant it and based on what we heard at the combine, he did not show much of anything.

Brewster was from Florida and was recruited by all the powers in the SEC and the rest of America. But, he will have to get a nasty streak sooner rather than later. It also doesn't help that his inadequate offensive line help expose his weaknesses. I think the fact that our offensive guards couldn't block anything put even more pressure on him.

Well, he excelled in the first 3 years of his career until this whole scandal shit went down. He was clearly the best center in the Big 10 and top 3 in the nation before everything happened. You can even throw in the fact that we lost a couple of talented players on the line, so he had to focus more on the blocking rather than snapping. I think he will be a solid starter in the NFL
