    Bad Energy, but I'll answer...

I have spent a lifetime explaining to people around this country the difference between Ohio and the rest of the country. Ohio has always been home to me. I have lived in every area of the country except the deep South. I will go to the grave defending the objectivity of Ohioans. I am not saying we always make sense to the majority, but I would say that Ohio has endured its headaches and challenges yet its citizens never overreact. We are truly downtrodden. Despite a nationwide housing or unemployment crisis, Ohio as a State seemed to just absorb the worst and move on quickly. Manufacturing jobs migrated out of Ohio almost as fast as they appeared. We remain a Bell-Weather State in National elections because despite it all, our people stay.

That said, Ohio loves its football at all levels. Be it High School, College, or Pro, Ohio remains a true Hot-Bed of all things football. But I truly believe, despite that Love, we would Love our children more than football. I think we would be advocating what is right and just. I do believe there would exist an outlier population of Buckeye fans that would ignore the obvious with the hopes of preserving the tradition and sanctity of Buckeye Football. They would know in their hearts that it was misguided but they would cling to their beliefs. But the Mothers and Fathers among us would see the horror. I lose sleep at night as a father of 2 children over the scandal afflicting PSU.

I can't appreciate the apologists. But I've never been a soldier, a rock star, or an electrician. There are specific professions that my God knew better than to allow me to pursue. I would have only ended up shooting myself as a soldier. And you would be watching my "Fall from Grace" documentary as a rock star. And if I had been an electrician, I would have been electrocuted on my first solo panel job. But I would hope and trust that despite my shortcomings, I would value the lives of young children above the thrill of winning football games.

Be it related or not, I have always firmly believed that if every state in the USA declared war on one another, Ohio would defeat Texas in the final battle. Alabama would be a close 3rd in the apocalypse but would be forced to align with a more influential power.

The Net-Net of my rant is simply this: I believe Ohio to embody the sentiment of America. Seven Presidents of the United States have hailed from our great State. We never back a loser. Ohio is the 7th most populated state in the union. Almost 50% of America lives within a 500 mile radius of Columbus, OH. We are truly the heart of it all.

I think iowabuckeyes just popped up............lol

I agree. Surely, there would be idiots on here acting like it is not a football matter, but most of us long timers would accept a one year stoppage to create a healing for everyone.....

That was beautiful, but it ended a bit prematurely and I feel like I didn't get that "I need a cigarette" moment.

I think you were leaning toward a yes, but I would love to know if this is true.

I wouldn't see OSU fans acting much different than the PSU fan base if this were to have happened here. We share the football first culture, we would do about anything to protect the program, and would be in denial right now, same as them.

That being said, Columbus is a bigger place and you simply could not sweep something as bad as this under the rug like they did in Happy Valley. That is one big difference between the cultures of OSU and PSU, and I am certain our institution would have acted in a responsible manner and never allowed a coach to get away with this type of crime.
