  • sorry if posted already but did anyone else see this last night? saying urban to OSU is not a done deal yet but the offer on the table is 5 year/$40 million contract.

  • seems a bit excessive to me for $8 mill a year. I don't think any coach makes that now that I think about it. my friend reported this to me...maybe it was a typo

  • I dont care if they pay him in solid gold! As long as the money is well spent (i.e. wins, locking down the recruits in Ohio, BCS Games, Big Ten Titles, and beating Michigan) it doesn't really matter. Seems like the price for a solid, great coach is gonna go up anyway so we should get ahead of the curve and spend the money!

  • Anyone hear what the mood is like in Florida on this?

I don't really care about Florida at all but have to imagine they are going to feel lied to by Urban if he comes back to coaching this quickly.

I thought about this too..................The Florida Marlins took a championship away from my Cleveland Indians. The Florida Gators took a championship away from my tOSU Buckeyes. The Miami Heat took away my hopes and dreams of a championship for the Cleveland Cavaliers.................The whole state of Florida can KISS MY A$$.

Florida Marlins? What are you talking about?

Jose Mesa got the double play ground ball hit right at Omar in the 9th to end the series for us. I've convinced myself into believing this scenario and it usually works out pretty well for me...

Thats how things go for me, sports wise, in my dreams.................then I wake up into a nightmare.

True indeed, however, we've been a bit more fortunate than Cleveland has. We at least have beaten the basketball Gators three times in the past three years both here and in Gainesville. Plus we beat the Canes for the title coupled with last year's home win over them as well.

But you can never garner enough W's over them and if this (coaching hire) were to come to pass, it still wouldn't be enough! Beat 'em. Beat' em. Beat 'em. Beat 'em. Beat 'em. Now we need to beat the Gators in a bowl game (perhaps this year depending) and FSU three times.

Have faith in Dan Gilbert. This dude knows how to run things and once he figures the NBA out, he'll win.
He's entirely to successful and driven not to.
    Someday Chad, someday. Lol

    Nice!

I would give him $10 million per year if he asked for it and STILL hire this dude!

Hell tOSU program generated +$100M last year and everyone knows that you got to pay the CEO of the franchise sooner or later.
Now you might lose the women's curling team in the process of handing out pay like this, but so what??? shrug

Do whatever it takes to get the program back on track. If the powers that be believe that Urban is the one that can really do this, then they should pay him! I personally won't be mad with going 12-0 in 2012 and trying to figure out where to watch the National Championship game next year!!

Problem with the NBA is that the inmates run the asylum. Everyone want to go play with their friends in flashier markets. Gilbert tried to lure Bosh to Cleveland but he wouldn't come. It's going to be pretty tough to get marquee guys to sign their and to get superstars to stay if/when we draft 'em. I like your thinking, but I think Gilbert's going to have a tough time. At least he's trying. Hopefully he makes enough $$$ to buy the Indians some day.

This is true under the old system, but these players are too stupid to realize they're walking into a 47% league with a hard cap. Once they fix the league, Dan will get it together and be able to hold onto the talent. I really hope they destroy that union for good.
He'll have the casino up soon, then maybe the Indians ;)
