What helps you more at winning a football game "stretching" or selling your own ring!!!??? Roll tide ! That game can't come fast enuff!!

What helps you win more at winning: playing a half-dozen of your best players whom you know are inelligible, or having your entire team practice for 20 minutes extra per week?

i went over to their board cause i like to see what other fan bases talk about sometimes. i never do any posting on any boards other than bucknuts obviously. while scanning through their threads i ran into this thread: http://michigan.247sports.com/Board/59424/Would-you-do-it-the-osu-way-for-10-years-of-success-9065055/1

i honestly am mindblown by how much of a joke they are as fans. maybe i have low morals or something but how would you just trade 9-1 against your archrivals, a national championship, several bcs victories, 2 more national title appearances and all the other goodies that ohio state got through those 10 years for ONE year of a bowl ban? i mean are you crazy? it's a ONE year bowl ban for selling your own shit. i dont know what any of you guys think but i think i can officially say michigan people for sure drink different water than i do

You and many subsequent posters on this thread missed the entire point of the very debate for which you're bashing Michigan fans. It's not about whether your one-yr bowl ban was worth a decade of success. Obviously any fan would take that trade in a hearbeat, if it was in the abstract. But you didn't make that trade-off in isolation, it brought with it a reputation of a "dirty" program, and it forever disgraced an otherwise seemingly great coach. It's those intangibles that the Michigan fans were debating.

No doubt it's just a bunch of losers trying to feel better about losing, but it's an interesting debate nonetheless. I mean, what the hell else we got to talk about, right? Spring game is over.

No doubt the Fab Five cheated. What you don't seem to understand is that every UM fan HATES the fact that our bball team tarnished the university's image like that, so that's EXACTLY why the debate was a meaningful one... whether it's better to suck or to win while cheating & disgracing yourself... because unlike you guys, we've actually experienced both scenarios ourselves.

    huh

How about you stop with your act and head on over to your own board? I think I speak for the masses here when I say that I am a bit tired of you and the picture of your little sister's breasts talking shit on the buckeye board.

How about you go on over to the scUM board or Pedophile state's board and save us the hassle of listening to your bull shat? shrug

Its interesting that obvd facts are brought up that the scum fans don't reply. What a mess they are. I would, and have, invite them to have a legitimate conversation about this. No takers! Runnin scared, butt hurt, idiots. All they have to live on is 1 win. Great. Hang onto that win. Cause it its all down hill from here. Irrelevant! Just like always.

Name one single UM fan you've ever invited to have a legitimate conversation with. In those whole 4 months you've been on this board. LOL You've certainly never invited me to such a civilized soiree.

"Obvious facts"? Exactly what facts are you referring to? The OP said he'd happily crap on his university's public image just so he could be a perrenial 11-2 team that's 0-10 against the SEC.... yet he's mocking UM fans for actually "debating" whether this is the better approach.... are those the "obvious facts" upon which you've shed so much light for all of us "scared, butt hurt, idiots"?

Oh, okay. Soooo... start a thred about delusional Michigan fans, but when one actually debates you on it, just swear as many times as you can and tell them to go away? No, see the thing is, you actually DON'T speak for the masses here, you only speak for an agressively vocal minority, thankfully. 80% of your brethren are sitting on the sidelines wishing quietly that you'd stop making an ass of yourself with your neanderthal remarks, and either let the thread die or engage the enemy on the merits... not stoop to the level to which you so quickly descend.

Wait, hold on bro.... you guys started a half-dozen threads bashing Michigan, I respond to those threads with rational discourse, no curssing or insults... but you say I'm here "just stirring the pot"? I don't know, man. I guess I just don't see it that way.

    Right. http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Board/Message/121/9072759/9090309

That doesn't appear like a trolling / stirring the pot post at all, especially with implying our fanbase is "ignorant" (but not an insult according to you) in your first line, and the picture at the bottom of the SI Article cover which no sources ever stepped forward for, and one "source" actually came out from Youngstown state and said that he had not said what was quoted in the article. huh

Rational discourse. lol The only thing you tried to rationalize in that post was Michigan's 2009 cheating, and really it wasn't even rationalizing. It was an attempt at excuse-making, which was what the OP was pointing out about your fanbase to begin with.

At the end of the day you can "see it" however you choose to. Then there's reality...

If y'all are too proud or too ignorant to admit there's a huge differnce between accidentally practicing for 20 extra minutes a week because of a misunderstaning about vague rules over whether "stretching" counts as "practicing", as opposed to having your head coach lie to the NCAA repeatedly about his own cheating (knowingly playing inelligible players), then you have no business bashing another fanbase for having a debate over whether they'd rather win while cheating or suck while not disgracing their tradition/reputation/image. Tressell and OSU and Tatgate were a national punchline; RichRod and UM and Stretchgate were a footnoted anamoly with which most coaches and fans actually sympathized.

Look I realize I'm registering perilously high on the douche-meter today, but fellas your anti-Michigan jabs lately are getting laughably baseless. This board wasn't like this a couple years ago. Is it because now the shoe's on the other foot, now you've got the controversial hated coach with baggage trying to run a gimmicky high-school spread offense and dissing his instate recruiting base, while we've got the saintly low-profile figure running the pro-style (err... eventually) who's cleaning-up in the midwestern recruiting region, is it this juxtaposition that's got everyone all pissy and twisted? Is it the nervousnous of the unknown? Is it because you simply lost to Michigan for the first time in several years? Whatever it is, it says a lot about who you are, and how you're handling yourselves as a fanbase during this challenging period.

We will find out in November just how effective that "gimmicky high-school spread" offense will prove to be. And what is your definition of "the first time in several years"? Does several mean ten? Seems to me that your fans are the ones wandering off the reservation. After all, you are a scUM fan here on a Buckeye website making baseless comments and repeating unfounded gossip. And your coach is many things, but describing him as a "low-profile figure" is just not close to the truth. I would suggest you go back to your delusional friends at that other board, have a drink to calm your nerves and then just accept that the next ten years are going to be as bad or worse than the last ten. Sweet dreams, tsun!

What helps you win more at winning: playing a half-dozen of your best players whom you know are inelligible, or having your entire team practice for 20 minutes extra per week?

    Hmm, great question.

~100 players x 20 minutes = 2000 minutes extra practice time per week when you break it down by the benefit each individual player is receiving. After all this wasn't just one player getting an extra 20 minutes. This was every team member and coach. Didn't you guys have extra coaches, too? (not that I care, you guys were still awful in 2009, but in the interest of a fair comparison, it would be noteworthy)

This would equate to 24000 minutes (or 400 hours) of extra practice time over a 12-game season, not including fall camp (did you guys cheat during fall camp, also or just during the season?) or the 2008 season (see bottom of post).

I think TP was pretty darn valuable to the team so at worst I'd say it's an even split simply because TP was THAT valuable to the offense, but 400+ hours of extra practice is A LOT. Especially when you consider that this is your starting offense, defense, and special teams, as well as their backups and coaches getting extra time.

The fortunate thing for your school and fanbase when you guys did all this cheating is that your squad was god-awful anyway and had been god-awful under RR, so there wasn't all that much attention brought to you on a national scale simply because no one cared about Michigan. You were irrelevant. Same reason NC didn't get all that much attention with their violations -- no one cares about NC football. Ohio State had been a dominant force in college football since 2002, an 8 year period, not to mention we have one of the largest, most hated fanbases in college football and the largest sports network on the planet is in bed with the SEC, with the Big Ten Network being one of its competitors so the opportunity to slander the dominant team in the Big Ten when something happened was just too easy for them to pass up. This is why there is a national perception that what Tressel did is worse than Oregon / Miami, etc. It's all about the spin, baby.

Oh and just to add, I did a little additional digging on your cheating ways in 2009 as I really hadn't followed it that closely to date because I didn't care until you posed this question -- like I said you guys were awful even with the cheating so the details didn't really interest me that much at the time. I didn't realize that you guys cheated in 2008 also (http://www.freep.com/article/20090829/SPORTS06/90829021/1318/Michigan-football-program-broke-rules--players-say), so that would equate to even more hours than I listed above. Wow. That's a lot of cheating. Telling quote from the article:

"The players say they routinely are required to work out or practice many more hours throughout the year than the NCAA allows. They also say members of Rodriguez’s staff have broken rules by monitoring off-season scrimmages. "

Many more hours throughout the year than the NCAA allows. Wow. Was it really 20 minutes per practice as you said above. Sounds like it might have been a lot more. Maybe thousands of hours instead of just the 400 for 2009.

Dude you are still a prick and a bitch, so stop with the appearances. Your sorry ass board blocks Buckeyes from posting on the regular, but somehow YOU think that its okay to come here to address any topic and comment as if you belong. I am advocating that we do the same for you.

Just because most don't speak up about and against your drivel doesn't mean that they are for a bitch ass scUM fan coming to our board to talk shit. So STFU. Feel free to log off if my abrasiveness offends your effeminate demeanor.

You are the only ass here. This is a Buckeye board and your chiming in with the repetitive female comments only shows and confirms that you are the bitch that I think that you are. "Neanderthal" remarks? Really?

No that would be that bitch of a mother that you come from. You have got to have better come backs than that bitch? That one just ain't gonna work.

Bottom line is that you aren't debating you are flaming because you are a typical bitch ass scUM fan.

Like I said skippy. Time to trip on back to your own board prick!!

I can't believe you're still at this. You bitched at someone else for failing to engage you in rational debate, but you just keep coming back with the same uniformed bullshit. This time, you've proven to me that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

You are once again minimizing scUM's violations. Razor already chewed you up on that point so I'm not going to pile on. And as I previously mentioned you have to be pretty fucking stupid to truly buy the bullshit coming out of AA (is a whore). Sure, they only accidentally practiced/stretched 20 minutes too long occasionally and didn't know the rules. I simply cannot believe any right minded person would buy that based on the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. However, if any of us ever tries to defend Tressel in even the slightest way, we are blind, ignorant, homers.

Second (and the proof that you don't know shit about our situation), you (like everyone else desperate to hate on us) dropped the magic number... half-a-dozen. Even accepting that the two e-mails sent by Cicero are proof fucking positive that Tressel knew he had ineligible players, he did not know he had 6 ineligible players. Cicero's e-mails mention Pryor and Posey only. Important players to be certain, but the others were never named. I suppose at that point Tress should've suspended the whole team until a full investigation was complete. However, you citing that magic number is proof positive to me that you've never done any investigating or independent research (or thought) on your own. You come onto our board and happily regurgitate what you've seen on E!SecPN without hesitation. You then accept the bullshit fed to you by your program without question. And then you come onto our board and accuse us of failing to engage in rational debate.

    Holy shit.

  • Alright ya ignorant prick. I've seen enough. Time to talk a little bit of common sense here. I realize its hard for a Michigan man to do but please try for the sake of showing that you can comprehend anything rational. Your going to tell me that JT willingly and knowingly played ineligible players? And that's how he cheated so badly? Let's look at this for a second. Some guys traded their personal items for tattoos. There is not one person in this world that would have ever believed their was anything wrong with that before last year. Not one damn person. And of course you are going to try to tell me that its in the rules and you somehow knew (bullshit). I can totally see how anyone wouldn't see a problem with that. So in other words, Prior is not allowed to sell his basketball sneakers from when he was a sophomore in HS? Call it stupid but I guarantee nobody would buy mine. But his woulda been worth 500 probably. Why is that? Because of his NCAA exposure. Violation! Let's go one step further. What if there was an opening for the front counter at McDonalds? Two people apply. TP, and someone more qualified. Who do you think gets the job? Yup. TP. Why? Cause he could get more customers in. Why? NCAA exposure. Violation! So you are going to sit here and tell me that you have thought all of that through? Just like everyone else in the world has I suppose? Where does the violations end? I'm willing to bet an enormous amount of money that, when looking at it this way, your Michigan team is also violating. The difference is that nobody cares. Why should they? They don't generate crap from a simple news article about Michigan. So something to keep in mind, you can make up every bullshit excuse in the world about your shitty decade, but it still boils down to reality. Nobody thought there was a violation until after the media made it one against us. Nobody! Not one person in this world thought that college football controlled such an indentured servantness to say that a person cannot, earn any amount of money, in any way, shape, or form, during their time period of playing college football. And I mean no way. 20 dollars as a Christmas gift? No way. Nothing. However you knew this right? Because this rule can be construed this way. God forbid if a Michigan player gets a summer job cutting lawns. Especially if there was another person that applied for the job also. Misuse of NCAA exposure! Violation!

Native tsun, I will restate the obvious. "Cheating" is defined as doing something to gain an unfair advantage. Extra practices, for example. Free tattoos and extra cash did not make our players better. Ineligible due to NCAA bullshit yes, but not better. We have payed the price.

Even if Tress had fowarded the e-mail, the tat 2 would have eligible for the SCUM game.. They are lucky we lost to wisky, we would have played Auburn in the the title, with our super gold pants and tattoos.
