  • This is no shock. He always disappears away from home against decent competition. He is a soft player and there is a reason why he has remained in college for 4 years.

    That is the reason we will go out before the final four this year.

    I don't follow basketball very closely, but if I remember right it was Buford who played about the worst game i've ever seen against Kentucky in the tournament last year, and just kept firing up long range shots, along with shots barely inside the 3 point like (that has always driven me crazy).

    It's Ed Hightower. When you see him in the game, you have to expect some really bad officiating.

  • Sully was getting mugged the whole game, he should have had 40 points with the fouls they missed. Buford is pretty worthless lately, he just looks lost most the time he's on the floor. The refs made this game a lot closer than it ever should have been.

  • And I'm glad someone started a thread on this because I was planning to while I was watching the game. I can't believe Buford gets as many minutes as he does. In many moments during the game I feel like Buford is a liability more than a contributor.

    * Poor decision making
    * Poor shooting
    * Bad passing
    * Turnover prone

    I think Matta really should sit him more and let Sam Thompson get some minutes.

    Absolutely. We had at least 4-6 points worth of possession opportunities taken from us by bad calls and like you mentioned if they called all the fouls on sully, especially the technical foul they didn't call on that kid who elbowed him, we would've likely had another 6-10 points just from that.

    Those are the 4 major issues i have with Buford especially late in the game. I got nervous every time he touched the ball. I just hope he doesn't shoot us out of a game like he did against Kentucky. I remain believing in my view that he plays too soft

    It really seems to be all about him doesn't it. Buford showed up at the end on D, making a clutch 3, and free throws. However the 4-15 or what ever it was shooting and turnovers make you scratch your head. Great win in a tough place

    Your nuts.... if anything he proved he won't shoot the ball 15 times when he is ice cold... he is getting rebounds, assist, playing tough D and nailed the big 3 when it mattered and then hits two big free throws..... Thompson is afraid of his shadow and to see him throw up shots and miss would ruin him early in his career.... hell look at what Burford has to put up with an he is averagin 15 pts a game.... OSU is playing too their strenths now....we were on the road in a place we have not won in 12 years.... Matta had not won... the refs sucked as usual but in the end we pull it off because we had maturity in the last 3 minutes...

    Name one big game Buford has made a difference. Maybe I missed it but I don't remember it.

    You might want to take a look at the stat sheet before you tell me I'm nuts :) ....He shot it exactly 15 times, making only 4 of them. 3 turnovers. Only 11 points, with the last 5 coming in the last few minutes.

    I do agree about the timing of those last 5 points...it was about damn time and I was most certainly jumping around in my living room when he made that 3 screaming "FINALLY! "

    But honestly, he's not playing like a senior should be who's out there for most of each game (40 mins today). Even the commentators noted that and they don't know Ohio State like we do.

    I hate to say it but Buford is a total liability this year and it doesn't make sense. He look's totally lost at times and please don't say he won't shoot the ball 15 times when he is cold. Please go back and look at how many shots he has taken over the past six games and what his shooting percentage is, it is terrible. His passes are lazy passes and he makes dumb mistakes at inappropriate times. Before I go any further, I am a fan of Buford and thought he was better his first three years than how he is playing right now. I live in SC and went to that game and Buford played terrible. I believe Thad is waiting for him to break out but right now he is hurting this team. There is something bothering him, he doesn't look comfortable and I hope he finds it before the NCAA tournament.

  • not playin anywhere near his potential, BUT i will give him this. he is shootin 88% from the line, averagin bout 5 rebs, and 3.3 assists a game.
