what buckeye player will have a breakout season next year?

I am interested to see what names are thrown out on this topic. I feel like Corey Brown wr is possible breakout player. He is the fastest player on offense and the spread will fit his skill set. Myer will find creative ways to get him the ball.

Reports were last year that Hyde was faster. He's also bigger and has better hands. Plus he doesn't have Verlon Reed, Devin Smith (who's also probably faster than Brown) and Evan Spencer playing better in front of him.
I'm going with Rod Smith though. Just on hope and potential.

I guess it depends on what "breakout season" means. Carlos DID have almost 600 yards rushing last year. I will go with Devin Smith.

I have two: Stoneburner and Devin Smith. We need offensive playmakers. Smith won the state D-I 100m so he is deceptively fast plus i believe he has high jumped 7' so he's very athletic with great leaping ability. He was Mr. Clutch in the Wisconsin game and he tied for the team lead in catches and second in TDs even though he only played in half the games.

Stoneburner is going to have a monster season. When announcing the Akron game, UFM brought his name up on a few occasions as a game changer. Stoneburner is a mismatch waiting to happen. Just needs an offense that uses the tight end as more than just an extra blocker.

Hyde is extremely overrated by many of you. Honestly, he'll start the season as the starter but I expect to see him get less and less PT as next year goes on into the following year. He lacks lateral quickness needed in a spread, has very average ability to be elusive in the open field, and doesn't have very good vision. He's going to be a remnant of the three yards and a cloud of dust era.
As far as a breakout year, statistically it'll be stoneburner imo. But my sleeper pick might be Fragel at a tackle spot. I just have a feeling he'll do very well and make a great transition b.c.

I'm going to say Braxton Miller will put up huge numbers and garner Heisman interest.
My freshman of the year is going to be a true darkhorse: Frank Epitropulous. Helluva punter. Best wide receiver of the incoming class IMO (he was the best player in the USA vs. World game). I bet he makes some kind of splash.

Braxton Miller by far.....
I am also going to say John Simon because of what the supporting cast is going to allow him to do....he had little support last year and was a beast.

I would have to say Devin Smith aside from the obvious Braxton Miller who should absolutely kill it once the opposing defense doesn't know what we're running on every play. Once these kids get adjusted we should be pleased with the results.

As I had mentioned in one of my Posts, I believe Stoney will have a monster year up to doubling his stats from 2011!!!! But all in all, I think the whole team will have a monster year, the rest of the B1G better fear tOSU for some time to come!!!

Even though Shazier had a very solid season last year, when he was given the chance to play, I feel like hes gonna be one of the better linebackers weve had in recent years and next year will really begin his rise to dominance

I agree Stoneburner will be the mismatch they're gonna use constantly.
But I think J. Hall will be the "breakout" player as far as pure Stats (and B.Miller obviously)...their will be a lot of bubble screens and slants to him if he gets that RB/Slot position in the Spread.

I actually didn't read this thread until tonight because I figured it would be Braxton Miller by a landslide, I'm surprised he didn't pick up most of the votes in this thread. He is who I would pick to have a breakout season on this roster by far.

I have to agree with everything you said. Besides Braxton Miller, I am hoping Dunn breaks out and has a monster freshman year that will get us steamrolling into 2013.

O - Miller - coaching staff may know plays that don't have all receivers going deep
D - I hope a LB steps up so I will go with Grant. Also I pray a SS emerges so I don't have to scream at OJ anymore
