I see what your saying. Your saying if we would recruit more CB's than Safeties we could always move the CB's that dont work out to Safety. Its kind of like what the new staff wants to do on the OL. Recruit Tackles. If the player dosnt turn out at Tackle, they move them to Guard because its harder for Guards to move to Tackle. But my question is.................... how are we gona have room for all these recruits? I keep hearing ppl say how we gota take so many ppl at each position but we can only take as of now about 15 or 16. so Meyer can only plan on taking 15 or 16 till something changes like ppl start transferring and leaving. At the moment hes giving out offers like crazy and i dont understand it.

+1 You are absolutely correct, sir!

They have 20 Graduating seniors, and are current at (-3) on the scholies, so they can take at least 20 recruits. If any other players leave or are dismissed they can take more.

    And you are incorrect, sir.

We have 81 on scholarship now, which puts us 1 under our maximum of 82, plus 15 seniors (see attached link to our current scholarship count). That gives us 16 for 2013. If 4 of the remaining 66 leave the program for one reason or another, that's how we get to 20. But signing 25 again means 9 of the remaining 66 (14%) would have to leave. That's some serious housecleaning! There are a few obvious candidates but after the first 4 or so, who's next? When you cut out dead tissue, you risk cutting into perfectly healthy muscle. I have a hard time seeing that happen no matter how much people want to naively believe that "whatever Urban wants, Urban will get!"

well yeah they will always find room for the players they want. but they wouldnt be offering scholarships to them if they didnt want them. so how do you know when to stop taking recruits? lol.

I just made a thread about this topic. http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Board/121/2013-recruiting-class-talk--8718623

i think the big thing is who has a commitable offer and who doesnt. honestly, until urban arrived, i had no idea that you could really do that. i figured if you have an offer you have an offer, unless that means you show up to camp and perform to what they expect you get one, i honestly dont know. wish i did. im sure they offers out to guys they know they have a 0% chance of getting, but this stuff is fluid. coaches know way more than any of us ever will

I haven't see anything that says we're Pocic's leader. I'm not saying we're not, just that I don't recall seeing anything that says we are. Can someone prove a link? Maybe an 11W "Catching Up With" interview?

His brother plays Center for Illinois. I'm sure Beckman's pushing hard for him to come to Illinois.

wow! Huge weekend on the herizon! Big Final Four weekend in Columbus also!! A Big OSU victory on Saturday Night might have Columbus going wild! These recruits might love that atmosphere & want to be apart of it! Hope we can get a commitment or 2 this weekend. Thompson, Smith & Pocic! I hope so!

well based on this one there are 17, so if we are minus 1 then we are at 18 at least

    http://ohiostate.rivals.com/croster.asp

But I read an article that said we had as much as 21, I can't find it now.

  • "Aiding the Ohio State coaching staff in its recruiting efforts this weekend is five-star Trotwood (Ohio) Madison defensive back Cameron Burrows. Burrows will be on campus on Friday to check out practice and will undoubtedly be trying to sell the undecided prospects on joining him in the Buckeye's 2013 recruiting class." - Rivals.com

Good to see Burrows will be there helping the cause!

No that site says 14 seniors. You can only count scholarship players. You need to go look at past recruiting classes to see whos on scholarship.

  • Not sure if Meyer lets Thompson commit, now that Vonn Bell wants to visit. Also Kimborough will not be here this weekend.

    bucknut073

  • . Also believe there is 14 or 15 senior scholarship players.

Heh...no. I have a weird background. Grew up in Toledo until I was 12, was a Buckeye fan. Moved to Michigan, when to UM, became a Michigan fan. So although I am a Wolverine, I still have a sweet spot in my heart for the Buckeyes. Now, I live in Cbus, my wife works for OSU to complicate things more.

For example, totally rooting for the bball team this weekend...no way I want Kentucky to win it all.

lol, it is complicated..i can relate though. Grew up on ohio state football...never watched an osu basketball until I saw redd/penn against st johns some years back. Grew up on UC basketball...never watched a UC football game until matt mauk upset rutgers the year they were in the top 10.

I was watching highlights on youtube and I've gotta say, Im not all that impressed with jayme thompson...doesnt look too quick and he tackles extremely high. I'd rather move cam to safety and go after more CB's...I think tim harris out of virginia is a sleeper for us as well
