In beating nationally ranked and unbeaten St.Edward tonite, Trubisky passed for 478 and ran for another 106. The kid has the entire package. He moves and throws like Aaron Rodgers He was 36-48-5TDs.
Just a tad over his normal production, but then he doesn't play the second half that much like he had to tonite.

He had an unbelievable game BUT, would he be the ideal fit for tOSU offense? Obviously not because Urban didn't offer! I'll take his (Urban) choice and talent evaluation over alot of peoples including yours!
Tough call here. I saw the game too and Trubisky was lights out ! IMO...seems athletic enough to play in Urban's offense. Trubisky is likely a better passer than Barrett and Barrett's likely a bit more athletic...
It's takes much more to being a good QB than stats, hell any decent HS QB could put those numbers up in 50 attempts. He could be the next Tim Couch where the offense is catered to his strenghts leaving much more to be dersired. I will always say a QB is only as good as his wideouts.
No disrespect to Barnett's talent and abilities but his injury only reinforces the reality that QBs are fragile and you can't have too many of them. Look at Maryland, which has lost 4 quarterbacks to season-ending injuries and is now starting a linebacker at quarterback. Going back to Pryor, I used to say we were one sprained ankle from being in serious trouble. Guiton's put me somewhat at ease in that we're now 2 sprained ankles from being in serious trouble. Yeah, we can play Marshall or Darron Lee in a pinch but it's not the same as having a guy practice as a QB full-time.
Both Troy Smith and Guiton were late pick-ups and I wouldn't be surprised to see Urban take a 2nd QB as we get closer to NSD. By then, the roster will have sorted itself out in terms of transfers/defections/medical hardships, and Barnett will be on campus as an early enrollee so OSU's docs and trainers will be able to give Urban a good analysis of his rehab situation. If that prognosis is not encouraging, I won't be surprised to see Urban bring in another QB. I would love Trubisky or Tra'Von Chapman but I don't see them flipping from UNC and Pitt just so Ohio State has a back-up plan if Barnett doesn't pan out. But if not a scholarship, there's got to be a really good HS QB out there we can take as a preferred walk-on.
LA Ramsby from Cincinnati Colerain, Kerry Coombs' old school, led the GMC--which is Jalin Marshall's conference--in passing (1,281 yards), while also rushing for 1,103 yards and 28 total TDs during the regular season. In two playoff wins over Moeller and St. Xavier, he's 16/27 for 254 yards, 3 TDs and 2 int passing plus 42 carries for 329 yards and 2 TDs rushing. On the season, he's got 1,535 yards passing and 1,432 yards passing for nearly 3,000 yards total offense. He's 5-11/195, which makes him Jalin's size, so if he doesn't pan out at QB, he might play RB or WR. He's got zero offers but he was injured for all but four games last year so he's obviously flown below the radar and with the rush by schools and recruits to commit quickly, he's been overlooked.
Every year in Ohio you hear about a QB who is lighting up the boards during the playoffs. This year it is Trubisky. But he has played well for a long time. He throws the ball accurately, but more importantly he throws the ball when it should be thrown. That is the toughest part of QB...throwing the ball so that it not only arrives where it should but also at the right time to allow the receiver do something with it. We have been fortunate to have amazing athletes at QB for the last 10 years. Sometimes that hurts us when kids like Trubisky come along because he doesn't run a 4.4 or can make people miss a tackle in a phone booth like Miller or just run over their butts like Pryor. But he already is a better passer than Pryor or Miller, reminds me of Troy Smith his Senior year. Would love to have him on the squad, but as we are finding out with Cardale Jones...good QB's don't like to wait on the sidelines.
Hope he does well at UNC, because there is no way does he comes to C'Bus just because Barrett hurt his leg this year.
Watched a lot of video on him,he has a very average arm if it's that good.can get away with that in high school.he has average speed and is a long strider really not a good runner at all.
Once again these are not flaws that show up in high school but bigger faster stronger college players expose even the smallest weakness.
There is a reason he is a 3 star Qb (i don't put a lt of faith in stars but they do recognize things like arm strength and speed). He's prob a MAC QB!

siksikaua, I would agree with that with one variation: it's not just that a good QB "throws the ball when it should be thrown" but that he also doesn't throw it when it shouldn't be thrown. How many times do you see guys trying to force it and thrown an INT when they should just throw it out of bounds? It's maddening. Troy was wild stallion who finally learned to take Tressel's bit, i.e., he learned to live to fight another play. You can lose a few battles; the goal is to win the war.

If I'm not mistaken he was offered and chose NC. What do you want UFM to do? No regrets in recruiting. He's batting a pretty good percentage. The only time I look back and say I wish we had that kid is if you miss on a once in a lifetime guy. Not after a HS game.
I don't want two QBs in the 2013 class.
2014 QB (Watson, Barker, Crest, etc)
4 scholarship QBs each year plus at least one walkon QB is fine.

I watched this kid play a lot in HS. I know the common denominator for a QB to throw INT's is PRESSURE. I know Mentor just played one of their best games against a very good Ed's team but Mitch catches the INT bug in a very BIG way when pressured. Let's face it, Mentor is a very good team and Mitch didn't have to face too much pressure but when he does, he doesn't look that great. He is very good HS QB and can win games all by himself but he is not OSU prime time good.
St.Ignatius has beaten him 2 out of 3 times, shortly to be 3 out of 4.
He has looked average at best the last two times they played.
He had an angel on his shoulder Saturday against St. EDs. The angel is taking this week off. Don't expect a repeat performance.
Post again next week after St. Ignatius rips him a new one again. That would make it 3 straight beatings by Ignatius for him. Since you must be related to him, please post his stats in those losses to Iggy. LOL.
Aaron Rodgers (PLEASE ?) try to disguise yourself better. No doubt you're related to him.

A couple things... Colerain has beaten X and Elder in the playoffs.. not Moeller.. they play Moeller next Saturday in the regional final. Next.. LA Ramsby is no where near his listed size or close to as big as Marshall. Ramsby is all of 5'10" 170 while Jalin has bulked up and is around 6' 200. Rambsy is a better passer and is a good HS qb but he is in no way shape or form blessed with the physical tools to be even a back up QB at OSU. BTW if Miller and Guiton both went down with injuries(god forbid) and Jones can't step up.. LB Ross Oltorik was Originally a walk-on QB.. He quit to play baseball.. but now is back as a LB. He was actually a verygood QB in HS but was limited by a bad Offensive Coordinator.
Let me know in 2014 who our qb will be for 2015. Geez, all these guys could wash out and we be starting some freshman phenom for all we know!
Marshall's coach at Middletown, Troy Everhart, said in an interview a month ago that Jalin's now pushing 220 pounds. Here's a thread I started on Marshall 24 days ago that quotes Everhart: "He's got an uncanny knack for taking things and moving forward. He's got such a tremendous package of size and speed. He's 6-foot. He's probably close to 220 [pounds] now. He's a big mama jama. He's got explosive speed, yet has the ability to stop and cut and regain that speed almost instantaneously. To me in that regard, he has more physical tools than anyone I've ever dealt with." http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Board/122/Jalin-Marshall-13244566/1
If you're basing Ramsby's size based on eyeballing Jalin, then you need to add 25 onto your 170. I guess we'll find out this week what kind of quarterback he is when Colerain takes on your Crusaders.
Also, while I appreciate you're a Moeller fan, there's no way that Ross Oltorik would play QB over Justin Siems. If he was worth playing QB even as a walk-on, he'd be at QB, not LB. I think Orhian Johnson has a better chance of playing QB in a pinch than Oltorik.
So what do you do if Jones transfers and you're down to three scholarships and one's on a rehabbing knee? Suppose Barrett's rehab doesn't project to have him game ready by fall camp? Do you give Levi Ratliff a scholarship? He didn't have a single offer. Not even from an FCS team. According to his UnderArmour profile, he runs a 5.03 forty. We have linemen who can run faster than that. Or do you tell Jalin Marshall or Darron Lee to take practice reps at quarterback? Or maybe hold open tryouts?
As I said, "Both Troy Smith and Guiton were late pick-ups and I wouldn't be surprised to see Urban take a 2nd QB as we get closer to NSD. By then, the roster will have sorted itself out in terms of transfers/defections/medical hardships, and Barnett [sic] will be on campus as an early enrollee so OSU's docs and trainers will be able to give Urban a good analysis of his rehab situation. If that prognosis is not encouraging, I won't be surprised to see Urban bring in another QB." Smith and Guiton both committed on NSD.
Under Armour - Levi Ratliff - Quarterba
What happens if Jones doesn't transfer and Barrett's knee is fine? Having 5 QBs is only going to force some to transfer. If Jones does transfer, we'll still have some time before NSD to go after a former 2013 target(which I see as doubtful, I think we'll roll with what we have)
Moeller's defense isn't very good so I wouldn't base it off of that.. in fact defenses in HS football all across Ohio D1 are down this year. Ramsby is a good player but he isn't 190 or close to it.. his real name is Alfred and they call him LA because his nickname is Little Alfred.
This isn't Hooterville Div 7 type stats, this is the top few teams in D1. Mitch was offered by OhioSt, Alabama, Tennessee, etc etc....he is 4star dual threat, big arm at 6'3 and runs 4.6 and shifty. When OSU said he was behind the Texas kid, he chose NC where they said he was the guy. They run the same spread offense as Mentor..
I grew up in Cincinnati. I saw Moeller play when Tim Koegel was QB, before Gerry Faust, Koegel, Crable, the Francisco brothers are going to Notre Dame, back when they wore garish uniforms covered with Dallas Cowboy-like stars on their pants, socks and jerseys. I have a nephew who played at a GMC HS and now plays in the MAC. I have cousins who played in the GCL and college. I have a college buddy who's a coach at another CGL school. My dad went to St. X and XU, my mom to Seton and Mount Saint Jo. I have a brother in law who's a BCS coach and recruits the Tri-State area. I read Cincinnati.com daily. There's not a lot about Cincinnati HS football I'm not familiar with, including the origin of Ramsby's nickname.
I said IF Jones transfers and/or IF Barrett's knee ISN'T okay, we may need another QB. If Jones leaves and Barrett's rehab prognosis isn't good, we could be in a world of hurt with only Braxton and Guiton on scholarship. That would force Marshall and/or more likely Darron Lee to practice at QB. That might be good for Lee, who could end up redshirting as they try to find him a position, but it's not where we want Marshall. Even then, it still leaves us with only two scholarships and a band-aid at QB.
I grew up in Cincinnati as well and have had family attending GCL schools since the 1930s. I just disagree with the option of Ramsby being able to play at OSU even in a major crunch... Maybe there wouldn't be any other options though.. def not more than a preferred walk on. I don't think he'd ever see the field at osu.
Aaron Craft! ;)
I wonder how quick and fast he would look on the field? Too bad he isn't 6'7" 270.. not for basketball reasons or QB reason but will the quickness, toughness, and strength of his hands he would be able to shed blocks with ease. Maybe bulk him up to 230ish and put him at LB.. we could use help there.
