Ive been reading on here how some people seem to think Ohio St will have 22-25 commits in 2013..i thought it was 14 scholarships in 2013 ,maybe 17-18 because you always have attrition
i found it 14 scholarships for 2013
Technically right now it is 13 since we are at 83 scholarships as of right now.
We have 14 Seniors on the roster for the 2012 season plus the 1 we are over right now.
So after 14 seniors leave, and the 3 lineman (Carter, Hall, and Brown) may leave after Spring, and Whiting and Hagan are rumored to get Medical Hardships. That leaves us 18 scholarships.
Moore is now rumored, but he is hard pressed because he has a good work ethic.
And there are a few others with injuries, but will probably work through them.
We will be extremely hard pressed to get any were near 25 next year - maybe 20/21.
Here is my question. You list the 3 linemen and Hagan and Whiting. If that happens that puts us at 78 scholarship players. Say there are 2 more that leave, that puts us at 76. Which puts us 9 under the 85 limit. Is there anyway to petition the scholarship ban to the NCAA and say well we are 9 under our 85 limit which is the amount you imposed for 3 years. Can they say this is our 9 for all 3 years and ask to be allowed to go back to the 85 limit starting for next year? Or when the NCAA imposed the ban, they said it has to be 82 limit for 3 years no matter what?
I had read on another board that we "had" to reduce 3 per year and didn't have an option to vary the reductions between the 3 years.
NO --- 82 per year only -- it is set in stone.
