Because Gordon Gee saying something stupid is bigger news than OSU rebounding somewhat and being a top ten recruiting class.

ESPN is to recruiting what MTV is to music. ESPN has become more E! entertainment then anything.

espn has always been bad on recruiting. like really bad. this isnt a new thing

I HATE ESPN but forced to watch the network. If I had a million dollars I would give it to NBC to crush that network...they are too big for sports!

Why doesn't someone write a good article about Gordon Gee and what he really does for the University and how's he's ranked as a President instead of always talking about his stupid comments. Many of the colleges have raised their national rankings under him, I know. Plus, there are lots of other things that he has done well. Yes, he's a total Geek but isn't that what you need to be President of a big University. Oh--and be sure to send it to ESPN to the attention of "Assholes."

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. As director of college scouting at ESPN, Luginbill has a boner for Southern and California kids. He grew up in AZ and San Diego. His old man was HC at SDSU. He played JC in Cali, then went to Georgia Tech, and after one year transferred to EKU, which is the closest he's probably ever been to the north. Most of the HS games ESPN broadcasts that he provides color commentary on are in California, the South and Texas. You'd think they'd want to televise some late season northern HS football games, even some playoff games but he doesn't want to be up here in November/December. Haubert, as his sidekick, is a doofus.

Luginbill goes with what he knows, which is the South and California. Since they can't see everyone in person, they go by film but it stands to reason northern kids are going to look slower playing in much colder weather. He moved Adophus Washington up in his rankings because he actually saw him play in person when Taft lost to Friendship Academy in the first game of the season. I think more northern kids might be rated higher if he saw them play in person and that would mean, by extension, northern schools' recruiting classes would be rated higher.

Agreed he clueless he kept raving about Mario Edwards as being the #1 recruit at DE
during the UA game and it was evident that Spence was the best DL on the field by far.
Also last year claiming the Florida QB recruit was better than Braxton Miller was another joke.
Last year best player in HS was Braxton Miller by far anyone with any experience and talent evaluation could see that he would have the biggest impact.
This year is Green -Beckham or Beckman or whatever.Best DL would be Washington or Spence or Pipkin the Mich recruit at DL.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices this and hates ESPN.... lol

The problem is that a million dollars is a drop in the bucket.

ESPN is not an 800 pound gorilla, its an 800 TON gorilla in the industry of sports.

ESPN hates the success of the BTN.

If they had our contract we would get plenty of love from them.

You have to take into consideration the 4 and 5 star recruits that commited to the other schools during the all - star games. We only dropped one spot and i am not worried about it.

Everything will turn out just fine!

Love Dan, and Cowherd is a blowhard. 11W slammed espn last nite in a good article. First heard Dan(Pugh) on Dayton's 104.7 fm- UD's old station(WVUD), as a morning dj. Changed his name later; I heard Cowherd just say ND got the #1 qb recruit-can't think of his name- but I know he is NOT one of the 5 MacDonald All-American qb's listed in last Sunday's paper. How can that be?? He just loves hearing himself talk-so full of himself.
