  • I just watched his highlight reel and wow.....we gotta get this kid. tOSU and scUM are both in the running for his services.

With another 25lbs+ he would be massive.

  • Don't think he will be going to Michigan, just a gut feeling. Think it will be OSU then ND.

Lots of reports that Steven Elmer OL (committed to N Dame) is about to flip to Michigan to play for his family (he lives miutes from Ann Arbor) Elmer is a kid i thought was 100% N Dame (his family went there, sister is there now)
so i think Pocic is now N Dame

  • Michigan certainly has enough OL if that is the case and then Pocic wouldn't want to go there.

True, but think LLT is only true T on our board. Fox can play T or G. His parents favor. Michigan, OSU, and Badgers.

And Elmer's dad shot down rumors of Elmer looking at Michigan.

    Michmania

  • Elmer has been talking with MSU. Mother went to MSU and is an MSU fan. MSU over Michigan if he flips.

  • WOW is this an interesting thread I am glad I opened. I was questioning how Elmer got out of Michigan but who opened the door here?
As if Michigan didn't have enough Bodies now, do you guys really think some of these guys still are interested in servicing themselves up on Hoke's plate?

Of the Five verbals this year, only 2 are OTs, and 3 OGs
    OTs - Tillman & Cox
OGs - Kugler, Dawson and Bosch

And from the class of 2012 3 OTs and 1 OG
    OTs - Magnuson & Braden & Kalis
    OGs - Bars

I say Kalis plays OG but that is just me

    Class of 2011
    OTs - Lewan & Schoenfield & Gunderson (pwo) 3OTs
They have a handful of walk ons and more at OG that play.

How many years in a row do you think they can continue to recruit 3 OTs in a class and these kids will keep verballing to go there and sit behind others and either move over to OG, or transfer out of the program? Have any of you guys sat down with all the commitment lists other the past five years or more to see the rate of attrition at Smellville lately? I dare say any of you. But I have.
It is horrible. Why do you think they have had the ability to have these sizes of recruiting classes the past 2 years. Hoke has turned the whole roster over since he has been there. It is very hard to tell who is on scholarship and who is a walk on without really studying their roster.

    i thought the same thing.
I think no way in hell does Pocic even really consider UM anymore that they pretty much have there OL class filled for 2013 & the chance of flipping Elmer to UM is wow. Would be a great get for UM.
I also think Kalis plays G at UM. Logan TT is a great get for UM would of loved to have him in Columbus but he was always UM bound. If UM would get Elmer, I would see Kugler Dawson Bosch & Fox all playing Guard. Even though thats where I see Kugler Dawson & Bosch playing anyway. I could see Fox playing Tackle. For 2012 class I only see Magnuson & Braden playing Tackle. Kalis & Bars are Guards.

Elmer is solid to ND, according to his dad.

Pocic ship has sailed for Michigan. I think Michigan is set where they are, unless something insane and unexpected (Tunisil?) happens. I don't expect any change in our OL class.

There may be an outside chance at Pocic, but I think this is correct. Barring any unforeseen changes, we are most likely done with our OL class.

Pocic would be a big pickup for you guys. Pair him with Lisle and maybe Montelus out of Massachusetts and you guys will have a pretty nice class yourself.

  • Supposedly TTUN is set for OL in 2013. Flounder was telling their targets that they had 5 spots for OL and that was going to be it.

Actually no they are still accepting one more commit from an elite kid, a Pocic or McGovern.

If that is true what elite kid would want to commit with the # of OL they have taken the past few years? To me it seems the #s would scare an elite player away......curious to get your thoughts.

Seems as if Hoke is successfully selling the idea that the best player will play. These kids, especially those who are elite, are confident that they are the best. And in reality, Tunsil/Pocic are pretty damn good so they have every right to feel this way. Good O-limemen like playing with other good O-linemen, and competing with one another for PT can only make them better. I'm sure there are some who are turned off by our O-line haul these past 2 years, but others are becoming intrigued to join the party. (See Wisconsin)

Hoke would play with 22 OL and DL if he could. His two classes so far have zero balance.

Wait a few months to make that statement. The last class was geared towards the trenches, thats for sure, but Hoke was left with no choice. Those are the biggest two needs on this team, and without good lines your playmakers can only take you so far. He is addressing that yet again this year, however the talent he will gather at the skill positions are coming. He already has shane morris. It is very, very likely that Isaac and Treadwell could commit in the near future. Both of whom have the potential to be lethal at the next level. He has several top ranked linebackers said to be early M leads, a good fullback in Shallman, and some talented TE's to work with.

Slowly but surely, Hoke is building the team for his/borges pro-style offense. I understand you making this claim as for now, but I'm just giving you a heads up on what we will most likely look like in the coming years

Makes sense.....elite players want to play we other elite players.....I see OSU in the same situation with their DE haul from last year.

#1 factor of most recruits: early playing time. They look at the depth chart. They don't want to be with or close behind great players. Understandable. You cannot grow as a player if you are riding the pine.... and who wants to do that anyway.

OSU will have a ton of elite OL recruits to pick from IMO

    JJP

  • I agree. We should have a good amount of talent to recruit. I think a lot of new faces will show up as talent grows in these kids during their senior season. I still think we end up with a top 3 recruiting class.
