Mcray not announcing

  • Seems like now Mike Mcray will not announce this week.Per Josh Hemholdt on twitter. Wonder if the home team made a call.

    atrain420

  • I hope McCray received an offer, would absolutely loathe seeing this kid in the piss colored pants up north.

    bucksandsurfing

  • Still going to end up Blue, he is just announcing tomorrow or Wednesday instead.

    UMGoBlue

  • Our loss your gain.Kid is a very good player.
We have alot of LB's now that have a alot of potential to be super players we will see what happens.

    Spliveman

  • He is visiting Ann Arbor..looks like he is likely to commit tomorrow or Wednesday.

Yep I think you are correct....Im sure he is pissed that his dream school did not offer so he wants to go to Michigan now....also I thinky you guys will get Gedeon too as I read he does not have a commitable offer from OSU. IMO OSU will get Anzalone who has offers from just about every BCS school and Love from Ohio....OSU may also get Smith but my best guess is Anzalone and Love.

    JJP

  • There's no hurry to committ,he should take his time,go to the camps and let more offers roll in....the offer from scUM will still be there no matter what,he should take more than visit, and enjoy the process

My understanding is that Gedeon had a committable offer, but if you are in fact correct, then it makes sense why he is looking north.

I think you definitely get Love, Anzalone I think is a race between you and PSU. Love is an excellent player, dont know much about Anzalone other than what the recruiting sites say.

I don't know for sure if Gedeon has committable offer just read he didn't......both these Ohio guys are good so I think both Mich and OSU will make out good with LBs.....I also heard that Mcray may be to big to play LB....heard he could end up being on DL

  • Top 10 in state kid, going to the TTUN, sickens me. If McCray ends up a stud at scUM, and is an Ohio State killer one day in the big game, please remember that we had our chance to offer him, and he would have been a buckeye. Top 10 in-state kid, he should have an offer from the good guys.

And over the years we've seen our share of Ohio boys in piss colored pants, destroying us in the big game. See Cooper years.

If we strike out on Anzalone and Smith, we may wish we had offered McCray.

  • I really don't get why Meyer isn't offering guys like Mccray. Maybe he's banking on getting 5 star talent at every position, but man, what a huge gamble.

Wouldn't be surprised if McCray potentially outgrowing LB is part of why you guys haven't offered. His size is less of a problem for us because in our 4-3 the SAM LB is basically a small DE, plays close to the line of scrimmage. So he seems to fit our plans on defense better than OSU's, with Meyer perhaps looking for smaller faster linebackers.

Meyer has won two national titles, went 22-2 at Utah and dominated the SEC, he knows what he is doing.
OSU is the big leader for LB Alex Anzalone from Pa. Anzalone is 6'4" and 225 with sub 4.5 speed, he just picked up offers from Alabama, LSU, Florida, FSU, USC and Oklahoma since his tape got out.
Courtney Love is all but a Buckeye, and he will be. He is 6'2" and 225 with 4.5 speed and offers from USC, Oklahoma, Nebraska and MSU amongst a few.
OSU is still there to get Jaylon Smith, a 5 star everyone wants and his brother is at OSU. We are in on 2/3 just elite speed LB's from North Carolina and Virginia as well.
McCray is a tweener, smallish for a WSDE and slow for an OSLB. Wish him luck, but none of the nations elites like LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Bama and those types are chasing McCray, there is a reason why.
At DE, OSU is in great shape with Bower, Bosa, Walker, Muhahmmad, McNeal (kid from NC that loves OSU and has a lot of elite offers) and Daniel, so relax. We lead for Bower, stud. Bosa and Walker coming in for spring game weekend, as is McNeal.
OSU will get a monster LB and #1 player in Ohio Donte Booker to start 2014.
Meyer is going to get better athletes than McCray, bank on it, he has the national cache to pull kids in from the south, Texas and mid atlantic in larger numbers than Michigan can dream of.
Go check out Josh McNeil, 6'5" 235 TE with 4.6 speed that is blowing up with offers from Georgia, Miami, Clemson, South Carolina and more SEC/ACC offers expected this week, OSU got in on him early and he will be a Buckeye.
Speed kills, Meyer is building a SEC defense fast, McCray is not a SEC LB or DE, it is what it is.
There is a reason Urban Meyer did not offer the WR Dukes, TE Butt, DE Chartlon and now McCray, he is going to get better speed/explosion/power athletes, that is fact.

I would have to agree which is why Meyer is going after LBs with more speed

  • All we can hope is that if he goes to Michigan he doesn't have the success that kids like Woodson & Howard had.

Now we have to say if every Ohio kid comes back to haunt us we could have had him? That's BS! If he wants to be a Buckeye he can wait to be evaluated during camp. We have 82 scholarships, not everyone will get a early offer. We can't overreact every time another program offers a kid. Our coaches have to trust the evaluation of film and talk to the coaches. At the end of the day some slip thru the cracks, but I trust our staff.

  • OSU has 14 seniors. Even if someone like Hankins or Roby has a monster year and goes pro, because we're limited to 82, we'd have to lose about 10 more guys to attrition to sign 25 guys again. I don't see that happening. By my count--and I will defer to a Blue fan to dispute--scUM has 17 seniors. I believe they also only have 82 guys currently on scholarship, which means they're 3 under the 85 they're allowed. That takes them up to 20. If Lewan goes pro, which is a strong possibility, that's 21. Allow for 4 more for attrition, and they can very easily sign 25 again. We'll probably be lucky to sign 20. So as the #s go, I expect scUM to have a "better" class based on sheer volume. Time will tell if the quality is there, but so far, I'd say Hoke's done a very good job signing 4/5-star quality players. But with the exception of OL, their needs and ours are very different, partly because of depth (with our DEs, we just don't have room for Charlton or Butt) but also because of the systems. i.e., Morris is a 5-star QB but if RichRod was still there running the spread, he's not a good fit, which means he's not someone Urban would have recruited, anyway. So he's better for Hoke's system. But the 5-recruit variance between our 2013 class and theirs could be Ohio kids we might have wanted to but weren't have been able to sign, either because we're already loaded at their position (Charlton, Butt, McCray, Gedeon, Dukes) or we just don't have the margins to add bulk to what we've already got.
