Michael Hill has OSU as Favorite

  • There is a story on 247 but I am not a paid member so I can't read it. But per a rivals article

" Early on it was thought to be a Clemson-South Carolina battle for Michael Hill, the Palmetto State's top junior. But there's been a change in course in his recruiting. The four-star recruit said Thursday he's now ready to name a leader, and it's not either one of the in-state programs. "Ohio State is my favorite school," Hill told Tigerillustrated.com at his high school on Thursday afternoon. "I grew up liking them as a kid." "I don't have a No. 2 or a No. 3," Hill said. "I'm pretty wide open after that."

Kid is #5 DT by rivals and #70 in the country.

Could be a great get to pair with the DL we are getting lately. Good rotation with Schutt, Price, and Him.

Thought it might be good to get him back on the brain since apparently now he is going to come for a visit!!!!

I think this info has been out there for a while. This guy is a beast. I'd love to have him clogging the middle. Our already insane D-Line would move up to legendary status. I just don't know how we can take him with Sprinkle on board now and us getting short on schollies, though. Someone is bound to reply, "This is the type of guy you make room for", but there's a limit to what you can do at some point.

I have a strange feeling they are still going full bore on accepting DL's because they are looking at some possible movements to offense just in case. However, this is just pure speculation on my part. And looking at the talented crop of DL's and DE's I wouldn't even want to suggest who it would be. Any one of them could start anywhere else in the B1G (and beyond).

  • The BIG will have to get use to a lot of three-and-outs when they play this D.

  • It sounded like Munger wanted to commit soon because he knew space was limited. I know we want high quality and high quantity on the DL, but we've got to be pretty full, especially considering we're down 3 scholarships.

2011: Steve Miller, Kenny Hayes, Joel Hale, Michael Bennett, Chase Farris
2012: Noah Spence, Adolphus Washington, Se'von Pittman, Tommy Schutt
2013: Joey Bosa, Billy Price, Tracey Sprinkle, Lewis Neal (possible LB)

Could we fit Munger and Hill both in 2013? That means we'd have 15 DL in 3 classes.

I must admit, every DL in the 2010 class fizzled out except Hankins, who could leave early (Durham, JT Moore, Jamel Turner, Darryl Baldwin) so it's not like we have much beyond the 2011 class. But still, that's quite a few DL for 3 classes.

I've heard the Price rumors, as well, which is what I assume you're referring to? My own personal feelings is that we've got to be as focused as possible getting the ball into the fairway by maximizing true OL recruits for this class, rather than messing around with more position changes to OL, given our lack of depth and switches that still need to be proven on the field. This may result in us not truly maximizing DL potential, but all focus should be on what's best for the OL at this juncture given that's our slow ship. If/when we land Pocic and at least one other strong OL recruit that we can start thinking about those more risky moves insofar as scholarship offers remain available. No doubt the staff gives a lot of thought to all the issues, though.

Nice summary by year. Just looking at the progression, our DL just is going to get better and better every single year. Should be awesome.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you look at the NFL Draft, the most coveted lineman are the DT/DE's and the ever rare franchise LT.
So...if they' have top OOS Blue Chip DT's interested, I think you keep taking HIGH quality DTs.
I think the Coaches are really planning on rotating them from here on, not just a sales pitch.
And when you factor injuries, you need GREAT DTs come Mich, BIG Championship, and now Playoffs in Dec/Jan who are healthy.
So I think it's awesome, cause it makes the LBs, DBs job easier.
Especially in the BIG, what is WISKY or MSU Offense without a run,
Or say BAMA or USC in the Nat Champ game in 2 1/2 yrs.
I hope we get Hill, Hurst, and whoever else is 6'+ , 300+ with Speed.
Future NFLers want to be part of the Urban Plan.
    I love it.
