Mike Heuerman delays Commit

  • I know we just recieved a commit from one of the best tight ends in the country but just thought some of you may wanna know. I also know some of you may not be able to see this thread im about to post but all it explains is that he is pushing his announcment back to hopefully the 27th he says. All because Oregon has started showing more interest and Alabama has recently too. But for those who can see this link here it is.

  • "Now Heuerman is targeting April 27 as an announcement date so his brother, Jeff, who plays tight end at Ohio State, can be in attendance."

Lets be real. Why would he want to delay it so his brother can be there just to basically say "HAHA the school you go to isn't good enough for me"

It has to be because he wants to but on that buckeye cap and show them together standing strong as buckeyes!!!

  • I like Heuerman a lot. A lot. He's a tenacious and relentless blocker with a nice, long stride. He didn't catch many passes because his HS didn't throw that often but that didn't stop D-IAA Northern Iowa from giving his QB a 4-year ride so his HS program's obviously well regarded.

I hadn't paid much attention to Baugh, hadn't even watched his film even though he was on our radar--he was either the 1st or 2nd TE Urban offered along with Breneman--because scuttlebutt had it down to Heuerman and McNeil. So I watched his film last night. Loved it! He reminded me of Noah Spence when he was on defense, and showed great hands, nice speed and great athleticism on offense. He's not a TE to me because that's a label that limits his potential--he's an "Ath-elite," a guy who can play multiple positions based on need, whether that's TE, H-back, DE or even LB. He also offers good size and speed for ST.

Heuerman I see exclusively as a block first/catch second TE/H-back. I would love to see him in S&G. I think there's room for both of them. Which makes Josh McNeil the odd man out. After Stonie leaves, that will still leave us five TEs for 2013, with Jeff Heuerman as the unit's "elder statesman" and he'll only be a junior. Since 2014 also projects to be a small class and Heuerman will be the only senior, that means TE is a position we might get away with not having to fill again until 2015. By then, we'll be off probation and back to 85.

Read the article at TOS... I pay abroad also - doesn't seem like the Baugh commitment will bother him at all. He is quoted as saying he spoke to Urban and the commitment will not effect him. He also states that he loves the competition.

No worries, if tOSU is the place for him he will be here!

  • I am following Iowa's lead on this.

I want this kid in S&G as well! Think he's gonna be an excellent addition and just another HUGE piece of the puzzle for the Buckeyes!!

He's right on. The kid isn't going anywhere but Ohio State. Him and his brother are very close as true to the reports.

Wasn't Baugh film impressive? I watched 2 or 3 plays and turned it off. That's what coaches say about certain players. That is all they need to watch. The kid is going to play ate the next level for sure. I watched it several months ago before I heard of Heuerman or McNeill, and wanted him back then, but didn't know just hoiw much he really wanted to come here. I am really excited about his upside. He could be the BEST TE to ever come through here. I think he could be better than Stoney, Dudley or any of them. He is just so smooth and fluid. His frame looks as if he could gain more weight without breaking down knees like Stoney did. Stoney was asked to pick up weight to play TE, and I think it hindered him and broke his knees. This kid looks quicker than Stoney too or at least smoother. We'll see. I don't know what kind of a blocker he is.
