Meyer took it. Im starting to get disappointed with this class. I would rather of had a guy like Bosa or Bower. We set well with both, so why wouldnt we tell Sprinkle to hold out? not a big deal tho cuz I trust Meyer. Just think there is bigger fish in the pond that we have a great chance of landing than guys like Thompson & Sprinkle.
I mean hell, we are loaded at DE & we offer a guy like Sprinkle, but yet we need 3 LB's in this class & we dont offer guys like Kimbrough, McCray? Sprinkle takes up a spot in this class that could of went to a guy like Bosa, Bower, Hill, Smith, Foster, Green, another OL, another LB or another DB.

Urban still has to recruit 3* players in Ohio, particularly those like Thompson and Sprinkle who are likely underrated and have high ceilings.
OSU can never concede the majority of the top 20-30 players in the state to Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc... in an attempt to recruit solely 4-5* players from out of state.
This isn't John Madden where you load your team with 85 5* players and beat everybody 75-3.
Urban is looking for players who will do the most at OSU, not in high school. Based on his recruiting track record one would have to assume that Tracy is a legit OSU DLineman and not someone who is filling a spot that could've went to someone else.

I know. Im not saying there is anything wrong with taking players likes them. Im just saying I just think they were better players, highly rated players, that we have GREAT shots at landing like Bosa, Hill, Bower & the big dude from the East Coast, also Munger before we take a kid like Sprinkle. I trust Urban, and I know his track record is legit. but Im just saying, i think we could of got better players.

JT Barrett just committed to the Buckeyes via text message! Make it #10 for the class of 2013! Welcome to the Buckeyes JT! And make that one correct so far for me! Keep that in mind because there will be many more to come. Mark my words, Joey Bosa will commit to the Buckeyes on Saturday at the spring game and so will Anzalone!

+1 I like Sprinkle a lot. I see him being redshirted not because he can't play as much as it gives him a chance to bulk up so he can slide inside. He runs very well for a guy his size and I think Mariotti can put 30 pounds of muscle on him and make him faster.
But I am still not sold on Thompson. Nothing against him personally, I'm just not sure why Urban felt compelled to flip him now with higher rated DB recruits still on the board (Alexander, Cravens, Bell, Day) and July's FNL sure to attract a lot more. But I trust the judgment of Urban and Withers, who will be his position coach.
This class is filling up fast, much faster than I think any of us expected two months ago. If we hit 20 by August, I don't see Urban taking his foot off the pedal, not with the 2012 high school season still to be played and fall home game visits still to come.
I am becoming more and more convinced Urban's going to make a play for 25 recruits again. That means more housecleaning to clear 9 scholarships between now and 12/31/12 when the guys from Tressel's 2010 and 2011 classes who aren't playing will be encouraged to transfer out in order to enroll somewhere else in time for winter semester classes and still have two years' eligibility remaining.

I would love for us to squeeze 8-9 more commits in. Im just unsure how we do it. If I had to choose players to get rid of (which I don't want to do) the list would look like this
1. Domicone 2. Griffin 3. C. Carter 4. W. Ball
I have nothing personal against any of these guys, I just think we could survive without them. I like Ball a lot, but he's never going to see the field imo.

Yea I am not sure how its done, but I am under no illusions that it CAN be done if the coach desires it.
Your #1/#2 look okay, but W. Ball and Carter are going no where.
Ball will fit in nicely, he has to wait his time and go through a full year's training (practice and weight).Carter is an OL and in a position of need playing on a unit going through repair, so again he's going no where.
This unit is in no position to ask anyone to leave without any hints of a replacement.Just check the roster. There a number of guys sharing numbers with other kids on the roster and I would estimate that one or some of those kids that don't see the field will disappear over the next few months. I would even estimate that there are few others that are on the bubble (i.e. down to their last shot to prove themselves).

While I broached the topic, I don't think it's fair to start singling guys out. I lost count of how many left the team since January 1. I wouldn't have expected Jeremy Cash to leave after lettering as a true freshman. It's not just about productivity. There are injuries, grades, the NFL (Hankins and Roby will both be draft eligible), discipline issues, homesickness, frustration with not playing. I like Carter on the DL. I don't know how anyone can call for Ball's head. There will be attrition. There always is. But trimming the roster to get to 25 recruits means cutting more than fat but good tissue.

I just had a conversation with Donovan Munger. He's still looking and is interested in a lot of schools. But he also said that at the same time, he's trying to lock down his top 5. I asked him if Ohio State would be in there and he said "they are up there and I'm considering them."
