  • This was definitely a shock. I knew we offered but didn't know much about him and given how often it is that we nab a player from California, I didn't bother to really look into him. But now committing and looking at some vids, this is the type of TE we need. Nice get!

  • Wow. Really great pickup. Never saw him commiting this early..and even later, thought it would be tough to pull him from USC. A real coup for Urban.

  • There you go recruiting doubters!! Got to have faith in Urban. He knows what this Buckeye team needs.
Love getting a high rated kid from the left coast. Maybe more in the future. West coast teams sure are getting a lot of Florida kids.

  • Anyone have any info on him? Blocker? Reciever? Both?

  • Kellen Winslow type, athletic and quick enough to be a big WR at times, and a nightmare mismatch for LB's and DB's with his size and speed. Will do a lot of Aaron Hernandez counter runs as well.
OSU will also get Mike Heuerman April 27th from Florida, Oregon and Alabama just offered him with all the SEC and ACC elites, forget it he is a Buckeye.
What a talented athletic TE duo, no one uses TE's better than Meyer and these two athletes will give slow thick ankled Big Ten defenses fit.
Baugh's defensive highlights were pretty stellar as well, what an athlete in open space.

  • This is awesome. This just shows the kind of recruiter Urb is. We reach all the way out to Cali for a prospect that I didnt even know we were after. Buckeyes are going Nation Wide!!!

Do you know for a fact that Heuerman is a Buckeye lean? shrug

Just saw that he delayed his announcement date. It would be a coup to land both, but I am not sure
what to think with the delay in becoming a Buckeye.

I have seen a few norte shame threads read that they are snooping around trying to land this kid.
What have you seen that makes you think he's a Buckeye all day??

  • here's an honest question, is there going to be a 3 star in this class? i know stars mean nothing, i say it all the time. but legit, will there be?

Yes, there always is one or two 3* players. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a three star player.

Zeke Elliott and J. Thompson are 3* dudes on some sites, and I am more than happy that they have committed to tOSU. Its unreasonable to think that Coach Meyer will be successful at filling the class with 4/5* studly dudes!

    GO BUCKS!!

I think the writing is on the wall here. Baugh clearly rushed to commit before the 2 open TE slots were taken (given he hasn't even visited yet!), so there is an odd man out.

Heuerman delayed his commitment date so that his brother could be present. It seems unlikely he'd reschedule for his bro then whip out a ND hat unless his bro committed some unspeakable crime we're not aware of. Its pretty clear he'll end up at OSU.

McNeil appears to have received a flurry of interest from other schools per his Twitter in the last 24 hours and plans on making more visits. Its pretty clear he's the odd man out.

    That's my read, at least.

This is where the diminished schollies really hurt us. Baugh and Heuerman are proven studs. McNeil, though, arguably has the greatest upside of anyone given his physical characteristics and accomplishments even though he just started playing football last year. I was really looking forward to seeing him in the S&G. Someone is going to get a great one.

Let's now hope and pray that Baugh likes OSU just as much once he visits as he thinks he does now. Its imperative the staff gets him on campus ASAP.... like this weekend!

On the other hand, Meyer is pretty creative. Could you imagine an offensive formation with 1 QB and 10 athletic TEs? Anzalone could continue to play both ways in that case, as well. Defenses wouldn't know what to do!

I follow your logic and think that you are on to something.

Its not like McNeil didn't have time to move first, so I guess that he is out!

Way to go Baugh. Welcome to Buckeye nation!

  • nice and surprising get for you guys. I think both elliot and thompson will both be 4*s next yr. Our class is filling up nicely and may be rated higher than yours, based only on overall #'s assuming we take at least 5 more than you, but you guys are stacking up studs like firewood. We all know what urbs can do, and I have all the faith in hoke, I see 10 year war 2.0 in our futures

This. Heuerman delayed it post the spring game at OSU so his brother could be home.
    Tough for McNeil, stud.
Baugh is an athlete, he could be a big WR. The way Meyer uses his TE's and will add more speed elite players, and his offense that just out out numbers you in space with numbers, OSU's offense will devour slow Big Ten defenses, and that includes Michigan. Michigan has no elite speed now on defense, Miller and Posey made them look like they were running in quick sand with ankle weights.
Their 2012 class and this class to date, no elite speed and no kids with the SEC/USC elite type offers, that includes Gedeon, who is just a 4.6 type and lacks real good lateral movement, his offer sheet with no SEC or other national elties pretty much shows that.
Strap it up OSU fans, the speed and athletes Meyer is bringing in will destroy the Big Ten. People forgot how easily and one side he beat loaded rivals like Georgia and FSU for example, no one in the Big Ten has the defensive speed or athletes Georgia or FSU gets either.
