I saw the highlight tape, I think the kid is really good. He is super athletic. From what BN was saying earlier that he just didn't camp that much and out performed everyone at the OSU camp. I think he and JM are going to be the dream team of receivers. That is what I am hoping anyway.

I dont know how many people are able to get on rivals and read the articles but,
"Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell told BuckeyeGrove.com that if Jacobs were a little bit bigger that he could have been in the mix for being a four star but even at his current size that he is a dynamic player and if Ohio State can use him the way that Florida used Rainey or the way that WVU uses Tavon Austin that it could spell match-up nightmares for opponents with Jacobs' ability to change direction and make people miss."
So I don't get why the OP is worrying about this stuff... If this guy puts on 20 lbs before NSD could very easily be a 4 star and be ranked as high as Gibson or Quick or Allen, I trust Urban. He has 2 rings on his fingers that none of us have, and until someone on this board has that accomplishment, questioning his recruiting choices just seems plain silly.

We have several other prospects that are much more important to land than this guy. We still need 1 more solid wide receiver to solidify the position but the staff still needs to focus on pursuing all three options of Foster, Quick, and Gibson. Unfortunately, we can only take 1 of those 3 thanks to Jacobs. I'm so disappointed in this 2013 class. So weak. Even with a limited number of scholarships for the next 3 years, this is embarrassing. With Meyer taking the job in November and taking an amazing class in 2012 with only a few months under his belt, I thought the 2013 class would be even better because then Meyer would have an entire year under his belt with Ohio State.

This is coming from a die hard Mich fan, wtf are you talking about??? This kid makes me more nervous than any other that you currently have in this class, which is far from weak BTW. Wheels like that in urbs offense=potential score every time his hands touch the ball. Cliche' as hell but you can't teach speed like that. Congrats on the commit also to buckeye nation.

247sports has us at #8 Currently. Rivals has us at #9. We are defintely not a top 5 class. And the chances are good we fall out of the top 10 when the class is finished.
I don't think the class is a failure as I had previously said, but its defintely not an overwhelming success either. So many top ranked Ohio kids got away (Trubisky, McCray, Thomas, Zaire, Smith, Gedeon, Love). To make matters worse, many of them went to our arch rival.
We didn't really address our needs at OT or WR either. So, I think it's a fair assessment to say, yes, this class has been a bit disappointing. But the class is not a total failure.

I'm not disappointed with the Taivon Jacobs commitment, but I can't disagree with the OP about the 2013 class being lack luster and a disappointment.
Allot of top Ohio kids that are going north or not coming to tOSU. When I see the top 20 ranked kids in Ohio, and scUM has more verbals on that list than tOSU, the recruiting year was an absolute failure in my book.
Also, would have liked to see us land a complete stud of an O-Tackle. We might land this Finley kid, but he looks far from a stud.
Very disappointing 2013 class. The Tressel years of dominating TTUN are long gone, they may even beat us more than we beat them in years to come. Sad.

Your post makes no sense. Go look at every recruiting services top 100 players- very few are from Ohio. Your obsession with recruiting Ohio players is foolish. The best High School players are from the south. Meyer will get alot of top level Ohio players but to compete for NC he will get speed from all over the country. Meyer will outrecruit Michigan every year by getting elite speed-thats how you beat Alabama and LSU and Florida.

Wow, you are an idiot. Just stop posting and embarrasing youself. You think our class that is ranked in the top 10 on every recruiting site and 5 on ESPN is "embarrasing and weak'? There is 8 months to National Signing Day and we already have a very good class. WTF are you talking about?
Why Would We Accept Taivon Jacobs?
