The Best Damn Recruiting Board

I CAN'T believe I am seeing this NEGATIVE Thread coming out of the Spring Game already.
Tyrone Williams is receiving praise and so was Farris. And Joel Hale was in the two deep as a True Freshmen. WOW WTF Urban is not going to allow any STUDS to quit the team. He made that point very clear. He is not interested in recruiting Big Classes. He wants Mickey to get the kids in great shape and keep the ones he has.
And everyone wants to recruit more OL, and kick Tommy Brown off the team? Why? He is just fine. Leave him alone! How many HS kids out there is better than Tommy Brown at OG, let alone OT?
We don't need him to play Tackle. He was a fill in for Dodson who is not enrolled yet.
He should be playing OG.
As far as Tyrone goes, how often do you find mismatches like this in College Football?
A 6-6 WR setting up in the slot going up against a small SS in Goal Line situations?
Perfect Situations for 2 Point Conversions, Short Gainers, Etc.
Unbelievable Mismatches that those Bozos last year never capitalized on!

And if Carter continues to impress in Gametime situations, then I dont see much talentwise attrition. The only attrition I see is the unforeseen disciplinary, medical, and academic.

Hopefully, everyone here will be in shape, healthy, take care of school, and have a good year. All of these kids were selected by a head coach who won a national championship and multiple conference titles. Seems that asking which ones will leave between now and next spring is way premature.

I dont think anybody is upset at the talk of attrition but rather the callousness in which many on this board speak about it.. There are so many posters who sit on here wishing that so and so will leave so UFM can bring in another recruit. That is where I get upset... I'll never wish or hope for the downfall of any of these players... Let attrition happen naturally lets not root for it to occur with certain people.

In my mind, transferring mainly applies to guys that are buried on the depth chart and will never play. 4th string QB Justin Siems comes to mind, he will never play here.

Correct: Siems is a walk-on. People need to do some research before they start calling for pulling scholarships from kids who don't have one. Run off Cardale as some would like to do and Siems becomes our 3rd string by default...maybe Bauserman has some extra eligibility. Yeah, there's a solution.

Adam Griffin was one of the surprises of the spring game. He had 4 solos, 2 assists and an INT. That doesn't mean he'll play much in the fall but he played exceptionally well Saturday, particularly since Herman was probably picking on him. And I'm sure he's not the only kid on the team from a well-to-do family. Why is he being singled out? Just because his old man works for the University? For all we know, he may have already given it up, taken a hit for the team. In any case, shouldn't that be between him and Urban and his parents?

Brian Bobek was a 4-star recruit, the 2011 class's #1 center. He just finished his RS FR playing behind a 4-year starter. From what I've heard, his #1 issue has been putting on weight (he weighs 275) but he started at center for the Gray team. The Gray OL had only only starter (Norwell) and yet they protected Guiton better (2 sack) than the Scarlet team protected Miller (7 sacks) even though it had four OL starters. The Scarlet team's two sacks were by Shazier and Bennett, who played DE, which means Bobek didn't give up either one of them.

Tanner played OK in the spring game. He got beat by Devin Smith on his TD but otherwise I thought he played all right. Pound for pound, he's supposed to be one of the team's most ferocious hitters.

Attrition will happen, we don't have to name names. And this is still amateur ball, its not wall street. The reason osu is in a mess right now is because some players forgot they were amateurs. No need to be callous about another human being because we "think" we know what the deal is. We dont have a personal relationship with these players and their families, the coaches do. So hopefully all parties end up happy with their decisions to either stay or leave. Let the chips fall as they may.

I would tell my son or daughter this is the way of the world. Hopefully he or she has figured that out living 18 years in this world so far. People have opinions. People set judgement. Even at this very moment judgement is being set on me. What one says, that is outside of his or her situation says, has actually no barring on what they do and how they conduct business. I guess I think superior and not inferior. I wouldn't feel like I need to attack anyone for saying anything because they have opinions. Just like IOWABUCKEYE or anyone else. My son or daughter understand that they control destiny of their own lives. Not message board writers. If he or she does take it to heart......let it become a positive motivation. Also I have a complex issue about a few people calling these players kids. Last time I heard in this country when you turn 18 you become fully responsible for yourself. Which means you're considered an adult. Just because you're an Ohio State football player for the next 3 to 5 years doesn't renounce that.

Bullshit. How can you claim these kids don't pay attention to what fans say when you're getting all bent out of shape by something I'VE said? Who are YOU to suggest 18-23's have thicker skins than anyone else? When your old man played for OSU, technology like the Internet and Twitter and texting that allow people to say anything they want about anyone they want while hiding behind a coward's cloak of anonymity and the good ol First Amendment's right to free speech didn't exist. The only criticism came from the media. But even then, it was hard for young men to deal with being crucified in the press.

If you're not going to have a 3-deep, why do we need 85 scholarships? Do the math, genius: 22 x 3 = 66 - 85 = 19 for specialists and 4th stringers. So why not just draw the line at 50 scholarships and make the rest walk-ons? Hell, why not just pick our 8 best DLs and run the rest of them off?

And by the way, I have a nephew playing CFB. His father played at OSU. I have a brother in law who's an assistant coach at a BCS school so while your "experience" goes back a generation when pagers and faxes were all the rage, these guys are dealing with it today. They care about what people are saying about them. They wouldn't be human if they didn't.

But you don't run up and down the halls telling everyone, which is what you're doing. I have also had to lay people off. That's never fun, either. Bobek is a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN. There is no rule that says a redshirt freshman has to start or even be second string. What about Brown, Carter, Vannett, Hayes, Steve Miller? They're all RS FR and playing 3rd string. Why aren't you calling for them to leave? At least be consistent. Why do you have a woody for Bobek? And BTW, Jacoby Boren has an injured shoulder, had his arm in a sling for the spring game. That makes Bobek second string, not third string--he started for the Grey Team.

And everyone pays attention to critics, even the best athletes. They can say they don't but they do. It doesn't mean you can't use that criticism for motivation but if it didn't bother you in the first place, how can you use it? You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. If you're going to debate me, stop being a wishy-washy pussy and at least pick one position and stick with it.
