Thad needs to search high and low for a BiG Man for next year. Dont get me wrong Williams is coming along but how many times will Matta have the chance of having an experience team that has great chemistry. A few Big's is the only thing that is holding Matta from cutting down the nets in April. Look at Michigan St, they dont have great Big Men but they have strong hard nose type players that is not afraid to use their body and rebound, the missing ingredient that we are missing from Matta's teams.
Please explain how you think Williams is "coming along." I fail to see any improvement in any of is weaknesses and evidently Thad agrees because his PT is diminishing.
I blame his development on Matta and the coaching staff, Williams should have played last year to be ready for this year or they should have redshirted him. The coaching staff knew williams was raw and needed to be developed before he step foot on campus and they let him rot on the bench last year as many of the nonstarters do for Matta coach teams. This is the only year Matta has somewhat used his bench and previous teams had better talented bench players. Williams Biggest setbacks this year were inexperience, because we all should know its takes longer for Big Men to adjust to college and that he needs to get stronger and gain weight to play in the Big Ten and stop playing with finesse. But with 2 years remaining this summer will be critical part of his learning curve.
I don't think that you can blame Matta on Williams lack of development. It's not the lack of experience that is hurting him. It is lack of basic fundamentals. Matta would have loved to play him last year as Sullinger moved for the Power Forward position, and certainly if it was an experience thing, then he should have shown improvement at this point in the season.
Williams is lazy, weak, overrated, and if he had half the hustle Rav. has he would be a star.
Williams is more of a MAC player; definitely not Big 10 material. He is regressing as a player. I do believe there is hope for Trey McDonald and surprised Matta hasn't given him more of a chance.
Williams...your big will have his hands full with our monster-improving ZEUS. plus we have Grant Jarrett and Brandon Ashley 6'10" each to contend against. Rebounding will be at a premium. Good luck Thursday.
There are MAC centers better than Williams. Yesterday he couldn't make a easy shot at the rim then fumbled two passes away.
When he is on the floor it is like playing 4 against 5. He is always the worst player on the floor for either team.
Matta is a great coach but no one can understand this stiff getting any playing time at all.

Arizona is a 5 point dog and it will probably go higher.
The line opened at OSU -4.
It is now at -3.5 due to alot of money on Zona.
Most gamblers in Vegas feel it is home game for Zona.
Great post! +1!
