I have read posts and saw a lot of video on him, this kid is an elite scorer good looking shot, great release, great size, great body, moves extremely well, can handle the ball. Reminds me of Treg Lee body type but with a shot,
He was rated as the No.1 High School player before he had injuries in High School, how can people say he will fight for a position? His defense must be horrid or bad attitude?
I think he plays the 3 from the start,Thompson is really bad on offense right now,Really bad!
Ross is a bigger Buford with a better shot.
I think he'll be in the mix for a starting spot, but if he doesn't start he'll still play a lot.
We'll need scoring next year, although with DT coming back Ross might be starting out as an instant offense off-the-bench guy, like Thomas was as a freshman.
Thompson (and Scott) need to develop into at least average outside shooters this offseason.
The starting lineup will be:
Williams or maybe Parker C
I think Chris Jent and Matta will work with these guys during the offseason especially on the offensive side of the ball. Thompson will be the sixth man off the bench and this kid is going to be a great player if he works hard in the offseason. This is going to be a young team but it is an extremely talented team with a lot of upside. They will be in the hunt for a Big Ten title along with Indiana and MSU. Wisconsin loses a lot with Taylor. Purdue loses a lot with Hummel, Jackson and Smith leaving for graduation. Northwestern loses Shurna. Michigan could possibly lose Trey Burke along with Novak and Douglass.
Sullinger was a good player but this team had to play slower when he was in the lineup. I like the OSU athleticism and overall speed on the perimeter. Williams is going to be a good player just needs coaching.
Parker isn't coming to OSU!
Give us a source Fred
I like the talent that we bring back, but I would care to see us play some big line-ups from time to time. If we want to win big then we need to have the ability to play big. That is what hurt us last year. We have three guys on the bench that could have all played along side of Sullinger and for what ever reason Matta ignored that option. It hurt us against Kansas and Michigan State and would have hurt us against Kentucky. They all play more than one big man at a time. We choose to play four shooters all the time. In the end small line-ups can only take you so far. Matta will never win it all against the elite teams in college basketball until he realizes that he needs to run big line-ups out there from time to time. We can win in the paint and win on the boards. Three point shooting teams go cold... happened this year versus Kansas and last year versus Kentucky.
My impression is to play big line-ups half of the time and small line-ups the other half of the time.
Smith Jr. G
Seibert to transfer to UD and Parker to Duke... sorry, but that is what I have heard on both...
Again, every college basketball team in the country can run a small line-up out there... but, how many can run a big line-up out there... not many!
I think the look is this and nobody could match up
Pg - craft
Sg - smith jr.
Sf - Thomas (at 6'7") he gonna be a sf at the next level needs to work in his quickness
Pf - Ross a 6'8" 225 bigger than Thomas and is a matchup nightmare at the 4
C - Williams
But we will be the most athletic team in the nation top to bottom we gotta use that to our advantage. I see our possessions per game 10% higher next year
I agree with the line-up, but labeling Ross as a power forward is not correct.
None of these starters, including Craft, should average much more than 30 minutes per game and should never be in more than 35, regardless of circumstances.
Ravenel, Scott, and Thompson all need to be averaging between 15-20 minutes per game. In other words, we need Matta to actually establish a rotation. No more of this BS of living and dying by the 5 guys, it doesn't make any sense.
I see Weatherspoon and Sibert transferring, but should they stay, Matta needs to go full court press for 40 minutes and play these guys also.

I see a solid 8 man rotation next year. I think craft is obviously running the point. Scott gets some minutes at point and SG. Lenzelle starts at SG and gets some minutes at SF. I see Ross starting at SF and getting some time at PF. He's not really a PF, but let's face it neither is Thomas. Sam will be our 6th man and get minutes at SG and SF. Thomas(The Matador) dominates at PF and hopefully some SF with our big lineup in. I think Amir is going to kill it next year at Center and The Raven comes in at Center and PF. I see Sibert leaving, but I think JD stays. That's 8-9 tough players rotating and some great ways to create mismatches without losing much talent on the floor. If Craft, Sam and Shannon improve on their jump shooting I think we are better next year than we were this year. O-H!
so Ross isnt transferring?? I thought there were rumors of a transfer. hope he dosnt!
Starting 5 next year will be
Scott, Ross and Ravenel will also get good minutes off the bench. This is assuming we don't get Parker.
Why would he?
KenDAKY is losing 7 players to the draft, why would he come here and possibly sit the wood for a year?
LOL. How about Tony Parker himself? Ohio St isn't even in his final 4 schools...that's good enough for me.
So thankful that DT is coming back. Wise choice on his part.......and as for the OP wondering why ROss would have to fight for a starting position? Really? It is called working for your playing time....Matta is not just going to hand Ross a starting spot. Thompson is not the best offensively but he brings a lot to the table and Ross, if he does not start, will get significant playing time but as Matta has always stated that to get playing time you need to play your ass off in all aspects of the game but especially on Defense.
Williams and Ravenal should split significant time..........hopefully SIbert does not transfer but if he does oh well. We will be ok.
We will be a much deeper team and way more athletic then we were this season, you have to be excited about that. I think we will be real versatile and be able to play different styles. 10-11 deep if Spoon stays Siebert said he is staying. We will be an exciting team and Craft will be so much more matured as a player and leader ......
Next years team gives me a Baylor type feel to them.
