This team has no heart! They just can't finish!
Soft team for the most part. A disturbing trend really. The 2011 team was soft, last year we were soft and again soft. 21 offensive rebounds for Iowa. Williams had 6 blocks but he and Ravenel are useless once the shot goes up. They get muscled out consistantly and Williams plays like he doesn't care. I'm about ready to start asking for McDonald to see if he will give some effort on the glass.
Do you guys think Matta will look at this amazing stat from tonite's game:
Iowa missed 40 shots from the field and 13 foul shots. That's 53 chances for a rebound.
Amir Williams had ZERO rebounds.
reality ron, No Matta won't. He won't make any changes. No one on this team is getting any better which they should be at this point in the year. What are the assistant coaches doing? Craft is just not the same player without Sully. Scott looks better at times.
I'm really confused as to why this team sucks so bad.
Just glad Thomas didn't go pro. He is the only legit scoring threat on the team.
I never bet on the Bucks, but watching them each week, when the other team is spotting +11.5 pts, I am taking them each and every time.
I hate this from me, but until they show me they can break it open then I am cashing in the money.
Can't really argue with any of these comments. Very disappopinting to see the Hawkeyes come into our house and basically push us around the entire time. Good thing they couldn't hit their free throws. I'd like to see McDonald for sure. Williams needs to hit the weightroom and stop playing like he's 5'11".
I do think there's some truth to the possibility that Craft uses up so much energy defensively that possibly it's affecting him on offense. He had at least 5 turnovers last night and a couple very crucial at the end of the game. He looked tired at the end.
Geeze, what's up with all this negativity? You would think we lost the game by reading these posts. Iowa is a well coached team with some tough young players.
Why did Matta get a raise again??
jag, if you don't think allowing a 24 point lead dwindle down to 4 and then holding on to win only because iowa can't make a free throw deserves some criticism, then i don't know what would deserve criticism. this team played poorly, still has no idea what to do on offense, can't even figure out who should take the ball out of bounds against a press, etc. etc...........
there is very little to praise here. craft is really feeling the pressure and matta can't seem to find anyone to shoot a jumper except thomas. this team, right now, is very, very average.
things could turn around, and i hope they do, but right now i am not very optimistic.
Unacceptable.....If we could get 8 to 10 boards a night and 3 or 4 blocks from Williams you would love that. Sadly that's asking too much apparently. Again, McDonald is undersized and limited athletically but he plays hard when he's in the game. When we are getting pounded and I mean pounded on the glass, some changes need to be made. Matta basically attributed it to the fact there were times when Iowa was playing 4 front court players with just one guard. That's fine to use that as an excuse, but come on, make some changes or get in Williams and Ravenels grill and tell them to hit the boards!

It would be great to win every game by 24 points, but frankly, no team in the BIG is realistically 24 points better than any other team. Again, I was impressed with Iowa's coaching and tenacity and it didn't surprise me that they made a comeback.
There is no team in the BIG or in the nation that is undefeated. It's a long season, teams and individual players are going to have some ups and downs. Right now, our guys are struggling in shooting and rebounding, but they are putting forth a strong defensive effort and are an unselfish bunch. Matta is making adjustments and has solidified an 8-man rotation.
I have a much more positive outlook. We are right in the mix in the BIG. With improvement, a few coaching adjustments, and a little good fortune, there's no reason in the world this team cannot make a deep NCAA tournament run.
