I know I started a negative thread about the refs already, but how about a positive one? Ross played a HELL of a game. Shot the ball well. Was smart on offense. Rebounded well (Offensively). And finished strong at the basket. Defense was ok but as long as we can put him on someone who isn't a strong factor in the motor of the offense he does ok.
I've ridden him pretty hard this season but I think this game shows how good he can be. Hopefully he can keep this up.
I agree for the most part. Thought he played better d than you did. He had a couple of blocks inside and his length really bothered their shooters. I also think Amir played a heck of a game. The sophomores came to play tonight and I for one am proud of their effort.
He played his ass off and if he doesn't take full advantage of this momentum he has nobody to blame but himself. We definitely let a win get away last night.
The finish sucked but we are starting to really look like a contender. If we can knock of IU this weekend, we are right back in the hunt for a B1G championship. What I really like about Ross on offense is he seems to be letting the game come to him instead of forcing shots. His aggressiveness also is paying off. Loved that putback he got late in the 2nd half.
Amir is finally looking decent as well. He still needs some work on hedging ball screens as we got killed by three pointers off those plays, but that will come.
Ross has been slowly building to this point and it appears that the stuff you hear Matta say Q is doing in practice (his attitude, effort etc) is translating on to the court.
He did a little bit of everything last night in terms of scoring and in general we were up by 1 at half with DT only getting 7 pts. which means many of our guys are contributing in POSITIVE ways.
Amir is growing up as well although I didn't like the constant getting beat on pick and rolls but they will have to continue to work on that.
Overall this team seams like they are coming together and finding their identity and playing well at the right time.
I honestly did not expect us to win last night and if you told me we would split this week i would take an L at scUM for the W at home against IU. We need to get that win SUnday......
indiana, unlike michigan, has a great inside player which williams is going to have a real tough time stopping. hopefully he will grab a couple of rebounds and maybe get a couple of put backs on offense. if ross can have another good game and thomas rebounds with a better shooting game we may be able to hang with them. we do need a good game from smith and hopefully craft will not have his hands on the ball too much at the end of the game. if we can put another good game together on sunday we will really be building some momentum for the post season.
Who should have their hands on the ball at the end of the game? Craft has made plenty of mistakes late in games, but I just don't see a lot of other options. Smith is even shakier with the ball, Scott is a poor FT shooter and has also had trouble at the ends of games, and frankly I wouldn't trust anyone else on the team handling the ball. I think Craft is fine running the point at the end of games, but we just really need to look for DT more (and DT needs to really work to get open).
If iu continues not to give zeller the ball we should be ok Sunday.
