He just reclassified to the 2013 class. Listed in the Top 10 nationally in every ranking I have seen. Says that OSU, Indiana and North Carolina are recruiting him the hardest. As a 6'8" PF, would be a great addition to Loving and Williams.
Wouldn't it be awesome to get Noah and B.J. Anya to complete this class? Would have to be top 10 possible top 5.
That would indeed be wonderful but I haven't yet seen much info on where these guys are leaning.
Thanks for posting. I am impressed.
While I would love to have both Vonleh and Anya, I see PF as the most important remaining need in the 2013 class. Ravanel will be gone and Thomas could choose to leave after this season. We have Williams and McDonald at C next year, but no obvious PF if Thomas departs (although they could go "small" with Ross at PF). Matta could then pick-up a top center in 2014 (Okafor?) to play as a freshman while Williams is a senior.
If I remember correctley Mcdonald was recruited as a pf and he is only 6'8" but can probably play a little of both. if Williams has a good season this year he may not be around for junior or senior years that's why I want Anya. NV is a more important get though as Thomas will be gone after this season. If Williams does have a good season and leaves Anya with his size and length may only be here one year so Okafor still be very important.
Good point about McDonald. I have not been to practice, so I do not know if he is playing as a PF, C or both. His height indicates PF may be his better position, as you note.
Certainly possible, but I would be surprised if Williams left. From what I have read, some expect to see Ravenal start at C. Apparently, Amir still has not shown the effort on a daily basis. No doubt he has the size and talent; just needs some motivation. That will be a test for Matta.
Oh, and I certainly would not turn down Anya if he wants to come our way.
I hope Williams turns out to be a good center, but what do you mean by talent? I think i would use the word potential. From what I saw last year, he looked VERY raw. He is about 6 ft 11 which is good so hopefully he has worked his butt off in the offseason bc we need a decent center with sully gone. If Williams shows no improvement then we will be very average with a weak inside game.
Fair enough. "Potential" is a better description than "talent" at this point in his career.
Agree that Buckeyes' inside game will be weak if Williams shows no improvement. Disagree that team will be average if that happens. Even with limited production from Williams, I see this team as Top 25. Of course, that might be 4th or 5th in the Big 10.
If we can get 10 to 12 points and 8 or 9 boards a game from Williams we will be a major factor in the B1G. We will be a better defensive team this year with him playing.
